More of Mrs. Jetplane's Craziness....

Ok, are you ready for more of my totally irrational worries about having a baby? Are you ready, because this one is really, really ridiculous.

I look incredibly young for my age. I'm going to turn 29 this year and I get carded on a regular basis. A couple of years ago, I was sick one weekend and went to the video store to rent some movies. One movie I rented was a foreign film and unrated, I got carded for it. I was 25.

One time I was getting my nails done, and the very sweet lady that been doing my nails looked up and asked me if I was getting my nails down for the prom that was happening that night? Uh no, I was 22.

When I was going through the airport in Chicago a couple of weeks ago, the TSA woman looked at my ID and didn't believe that I was 28. She thought I was in high school, granted I looked like crap since I was hung over as all hell, but still.... high school, are you serious?

Ok, so here's my totally irrational worry... If and when I get pregnant will people look at me and think that I'm some young, unwed mother? Granted I do wear a wedding ring, but still... will they think that I look too young to be pregnant? Will they pity me, worry about me, or just plain think that I'm a young, little girl who got herself knocked up.

Yes, I'm totally weird and crazy, but these are the thoughts that go through my head...

The one thing about good about looking young, I always joke to Mr. Jetplane that he won't have to trade me in on a younger model for a long time....

I have the EXACT same worries! I feel like I look 13. My hubby and I joke about it but I have those same thoughts. About 2 months ago, we ran into one of my husbands cousins at the mall. She has a 1 yr. old baby and we offered to push him around the mall in his stroller while she shopped. That was the first time that I have ever pushed one of those big, fancy, nice strollers around and it almost came up to my boobs! haha (I'm 5'2") I felt like everyone at the mall was looking at us like that was our baby and I felt like people were thinking we were too young. In all reality, no one really seemed to pay us any mind. I don't think that anyone would look at you like you are some knocked up child. If they were really that concerned with you then they should notice your ring and two and two together. Don't feel bad though.. I'm sure there are plenty more out there like us who feel the same way.

I have the same worry! I'm asked what high school I go to all the time. At the hospital patients tell me I look like I'm 19. I'm always the one to get carded. Even the tricare lady once made the mistake of putting down that I was my hubby's daughter, and he's only 2 years older!

OH MY GOODNESS! I fear the same thing!!!! I look young and I'm so short it doesn't help. I am totally scared people will judge and think I am some teen mom! HAHA! I'm glad I am not the only one.

I look tres young as well.

When I was 22 I was carded for a rated R movie, but I didn't have my license.

I was NOT ALLOWED IN.

Not kidding.

I was on the younger side (and looked it) when I had dash-1, 23/24 but for the most part with my wedding ring, which I never ever ever took off and since a fair amount of time is spent on base I wasnt looked at that too strange. I did want to lamenate small copies of both my degrees and put them on my forehead but thats neither here nor there...

Your worries make me smile. I'm sure you will be fine, and I'm sure you will love the fact that you look young later!

But if your really concerned, you could always get a mom hair cut when you get pregnant. ;P

Don't worry about what anyone else thinks! Having a baby when you're ready is the most wonderful thing in the world. Be thankful you're young and won't have to worry about so many things that could go wrong if you were older. You should feel blessed and celebrate your youth. A word of advice-use that sunscreen or your youthful appearance will begin to fade sooner than you think.

Oh, that's funny! I wish I had this problem - I think I probably look my age & that's that. I'm sure that when you are pregnant, people will not think twice - maybe then they'll finally think that you are older.

I have looked almost exactly the same since I was 10 years old. I am now nearly 28. It used to bother me a lot but as I get closer and closer to 30, I'm thinking maybe it's not so bad after all!

I left you a little love over on my blog. Check it out!

Don't worry. I'm turning 29 this year too, and I am always getting carded. The flight attendant on my last flight pissed me off so bad b/c she kept saying to everyone, "Doesn't she look so cute with her earrings and jacket? She is just all dolled-up." I was furious by the time my plane landed. Of course, I am dressed-up with a jacket (it's snowing), earrings (I never leave home without them) and heels (I always wear heels). I am not a friggin 15 year old playing dress up you dumb woman!

You make me laugh. For someone who is not sure about having a baby now.... you are concerned about being preggos and already picked out rockin nurseries!!

But like you said.... your hubby won't ever have to "trade" in for a younger version. You already look young!!

And there's always people out there willing to judge. don't sweat the small stuff!!

The same thing happened to me! I went on a trip with my mom last fall, and everyone asked if I was in high school!

But I guess better to look young than old?

I feel the exact same way. I got carded to enter a rated-R movie last month (I'm 27). I have a feeling people will think I'm a high-school mother and pity/worry/judge me. So I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has these same thoughts!

PS - you looked like a natural holding your friend's baby :)

OOoooh, I know exactly what you mean! With my braces I think I could pass for 16. Haha! Luckily those will be coming off in a few weeks.

When I was pregnant I never took off my wedding ring even though I was seriously swollen because I didn't want people to think I wasn't married and pregnant. I mean, how silly because that't not really that big of deal these days, but that was my fear: people thinking I was an unwed mom.

It's funny the things that we all worry about. At least people won't be like, "Wow! A pregnant grandma!" :)

Don't feel bad! I went to the dermatologist a few months ago. I went to check out, and the receptionist asked if I needed to get my parking deck ticket from my dad so that she could stamp it. She didn't think I was old enough to drive. I'm 23.
