Ode to Facebook

Oh Facebook

Thank you for making this world a little smaller.

Thank you for re-introducing me to my high school love and his illegitimate child, she's very cute. He offered to take me and Mr. Jetplane out to dinner when we're in town... that's weird right?

Thank you for re-introducing me to my ex college loves.... the recovering druggie, the non committal hot guy, the jerk, the what the hell was I thinking, and the you'll do for now.

Thank you for letting me see inside the world of people I went to high school and college with. The girls in high school that thought they were so hot... are now divorced, fat, and with multiple kids. The hot guys in high school are now... fat, balding, unemployed, with kids.

And surprisingly the eccentric, nerdy, funny guys I was friends with in high school are the hot ones these days. I adore the irony of it all.

Thank you for making me feel better about myself and Thank you for allowing me to reconnect with people I haven't talked to in years.

But... people seriously I don't need you to update your profile every 2 hours with what you are doing... TMI people, ever heard of it???

UPDATE: OK before this gets out of hand.
1. I don't look down on people that are divorced. FYI I was raised by a single mom and have no relationship with my biological father. So please don't assume I look down on divorced people. However, I do take marriage and bringing children into marriage, very seriously.
2. I made that comment, b/c said girls/guys acted as if they were perfect and everyone else was beneath them.
3. You are correct the post was judgemental. I am judging them, I'm not perfect and never said I was. But I'm human, and I judge people.

I have MySpace and FB. I'm seriously debating deleting the MySpace account or leaving it there, but deleting everything and putting up a blurb that says, "Go to FB to see the goods." I can't keep up with both anymore. Everyone's on FB, but I hate it. I can't keep up.

why is someone that is divorced with multiple kids such a bad thing? she may think something is wrong with you that you have none...not trying to be rude or anything but the post does seem a little judgmental. :(

I LOVE Facebook. I admit it, I'm a stalker, I love being able to get a sneak peak into peoples lives!

Oh Facebook...it is a great way to keep in touch...but sometimes a little too close! I could really care less about 1/2 of my "friends." :)

I totally understand....I had to delete my Myspace after all these odd people from my past were finding me! TERRIBLE!

Ha isn't it funny how all of that works out. The popular, snobby, "I can get any guy I want" girls are now moms, single moms, divorced and remarried. It's crazy how it works out like that! I was just going through mine and thinking the same thing! The prom king and queen that were once married are now divorced, dude has remarried his ex's best friend and the chick is preggo living with some dude?? Not judging, just think it's ironic....

I just laughed out loud! I'm serious. I recently deleted everything but my picture and contact info on facebook and within hours there were comments from "friends" saying they miss my profile info... Seriously. They were creeping that much!

Love it! I loving seeing when certain people are getting fat but obviously don't realize it yet!

I'm not even going to pretend like I don't do the same exact thing. I used to be on MySpace to keep an eye on a younger cousin, but now I use it to see what people from my hometown are up to. I am on FB a lot more though because some of my bffs and I all message each other using that. I check MySpace like once a month, maybe less.

Judgmental isn't the best thing to be, but hey, I am! One of my favorite quotes from Sex and the City is when Stanford tells Carrie, "We all judge. That's our hobby. Some people do arts and crafts; we judge."

I judge like it's my job. :( Sadly. But hey, everyone else on fb is doing it too. holla.

I have to agree with you, I really like seeing what people have done with their lives and it seems like a recurring theme... those who were sooo popular and sooo b*tchy have amounted to nothing (not all of them, but a good amount, at least where I'm from)

But I can't keep up with everyones updates and their "gifts" they send and the groups and applications, etc. I just don't have the time.

Oh, so agreed. FB is such a guilty plesaure, yet so annoying at the same time.

Ashley said...

I totally understand you. Agreed!

Totally agree! And here's to being judging ... if they put it out there, its fair game to be judged! :)

It's like all of those things our mothers told us (while we were struggling with high school) would come true - did.

Oh how I look forward to reading your blog with a nice cup of coffee! While my Lexie runs around screaming she wants to see pics of milo & Charlie and ask a dozen times why you still live in FL.

I love this current blog, its priceless! If people really claim to not judge people, their lieing!

Love you & love your blog...

Thank you for your comments! Honestly blogging is about who we really are and a lot of times I know I am really judgemental and it's nice not to be the only one. Oh I am so sick of all the Anon out there. Grow a pair people!

I love how it worked out like that. And I guess every high school is the same! I don't have as much similarity with college friends, but a lot of the high school people have not done so well! And you know they always thought they would do great. They never finished college and got married too young, got divorced too young, and still only hang out with high school friends. Ugh. We're here to judge ;). But... it is annoying that you (and me too) feel like we have to justify our blog posts to get people off of our backs.

I hope that my children believe me someday when I tell them that those popular kids who are so mean to everyone won't amount to anything in the long run!
