Project Get Sexy

We all are guilty at one time or another of letting ourselves go and gaining weight. It could because we get 'fat and happy' or 'sad and fat'. We could have just had a baby, switched medications, or developed an unhealthy obsession with Rocky Road ice cream....it happens to us all.

And when we gain this weight we start to feel it, not just feel it in our body but feel it in our soul. We start to feel bad about ourselves. We feel less like the woman we thought we were and less attractive. Well, at least I do.

I have gained some weight since we got married June 2008. Some will say that I haven't gained 'a lot of weight', but enough for me to notice and enough for it to hurt my self esteem. I'm only 5'2" so every lb is painful.

I want to lose some lbs and more importantly I want to look better in my clothes. I want to be toned. I want definition in my legs. I want to feel good in a sleeveless shirt. I want to feel like this picture again...

I felt good in this picture. It was a month after the wedding and I took them for Mr's birthday present. I had lost weight before the wedding and felt good about my body. I want to feel good about my body again.

So what am I gonna do about this?

I've started Couch to 5k and I am doing this plan. There are a couple C to 5k plans out there, or at least it appears to be the case. I chose this one, because let's face it....I loathe running and starting at running 2 minutes 1st workout, just ain't-a-happenin. This plan starts with the 1st 3 workouts - jogging 60 seconds and walking 90 seconds. I do my 3rd work out tomorrow morning.

Mr. Jetplane is doing this with me, not because he needs it but for moral support. After the 1st 'run', we got home I was exhausted and he went on a 7 mile run. Yeah this is the type of guy I'm dealing with.

Surprisingly I'm excited about this...and that is saying a lot for someone that regularly says the only time you'd see me running is if I was being chased... Yeah, a runner I am not. But I do seriously hope that this program can change my opinion on running and in turn help me get back into shape.

I will keep you all up to date with my progress. I will also be integrating some new and healthy recipes into our diet.

Project Get Sexy is in full effect...

Good for you! I'm in Project Get Sexy mode, too. It's only been six months, but I've gained 20 pounds since the wedding. I felt fulfilled, happy, energetic, and strong. Now I feel fat and lazy. Last week I started walking again...I was doing A LOT before (c25k and training for a triathlon, but now I'm starting with baby steps.

Good luck!

P.S. That picture is hella sexy!

Kettlebells, strength and cardio all in one. Find a RKC certified instructor in your area to train with, buy some bells and you're on your way. It works, I am living proof!

I did Couch to 5K last summer and ran my first 5K last September. I trained with a girlfriend (competition!) and we signed up for the 5K at the start of the program and then told everyone we knew about it. THAT, my friend, is good motivation! There was no way in hell I was going to NOT run that 5K, if I had to crawl across that finish line.

I am NOT a runner. In fact, I hated running. I wouldn't say I LOVE it now, but I like the way it makes me feel when I'm done. And running 5K's is addictive. I always think I could have done a little better, so I have to do another one to prove it!

Anyway, good luck, girl! I'll be rooting you on!

Sounds like a good plan!

I can totally commiserate on the gaining weight thing and have been working to get back down. So far, I'm down three pounds, which isn't much, but it's a start! :)

That picture is gorgeous!

Woohoo! Get Sexy! I've heard great things about the C to 5k programs. Stick with it - you'll do great! I too gained some weight after my wedding, and I'm now doing Crossfit to get back into shape. I want to do a boudoir photo shoot to get the pics for my husband's birthday in January - so that's keeping me motivated!

Ugh- I need to do this too! It always creeps up on me. I need to start weighing everyday. . .I'm 5'4" with shoes on, so it shows every bit.

Good for you! I love the title "project get sexy" much more motivating than "I need to lose some weight." The couch to 5k is a great plan. I have been doing Crossfit for a while, and it is really a great way to see results quickly. Check out the website - www.crossfit.com

I hear ya about the husband thing... we do CrossFit and my husband blows me out of the water on every stinkin' WOD.

First, that sexy pic rocks! I'm sure Mr appreciated that birthday gift.

I'm in "Get Sexy" mode. Got a 4 month old little boy so that's where my weight came from. The hubby and I run together several days a week. I love working out and getting a good sweat going. I'm 10 lbs from my "pre baby weight"... want to lose 15-20 to get to my college weight.

Good luck! :)

About 3 years ago I did the exact same couch to 5k plan.

Now, I have run 3 half-marathons, a few 10 milers, many many 5k and 10k, am currently training for a marathon, and even write a running blog!

And I still hate running. But when I don't run, I miss it. And when I'm done with a run I feel so damn good, that I keep going back for more. It kicks my butt every time, and that's good!

Good luck on your training, and let me know if you have any questions!

Yay ... I'm getting ready to go and run my second day of the same plan. I hope I don't melt. Its seriously 108 right now. Ugh. Good luck!

I feel your pain! I have three years and 3 babies of weight on me (one twin pregnancy and one single)! But I did start this past July walking 30 min a day and cut back on my food and carbs. So far I've lost 10 lbs. And I've transitioned from walking to running almost half my total workout time. I want to do more so, I'm gonna check out the C to 5K, too.
You'll be photo ready again in no time! Good luck!

Love this post! And I am so there with you. Project Get Sexy is going on at my house too. I'm afraid the Couch to 5k might kill me though, since I'm not a runner either. But, this one looks a bit more do-able.
