Sad days...

Our strike fighter community lost one brave warrior yesterday. My heart breaks for the young family affected. Its a very sad time around these parts.
We toast our hearty comrades who have fallen from the skies, and were gently caught by God's own hands to be with him on high. To dwell among the soaring clouds they've known so well before, from victory roll to tail chase at heavens very door. And as we fly among them there we're sure to hear their plea, "Take care my friend, watch your six, and do one more roll for me."

Happy Pug Friday Everyone. Enjoy your weekend.
Mr is flying home tomorrow and will be home for a few days. I'm pretty excited about it. Hope I get some snuggle time in while he's around.

Its been one long road....

Today Mama Jetplane has her final procedure in the long road that has been her breast reconstruction. She was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer in October 2008. Due to our family history and the atypical form she had, she chose a double mastectomy which happened in November 2008. She chose to put off the big procedure until November 2009. She wanted to enjoy her summer. Since that 14+ hour surgery, she has had numerous procedures. Its been a long and tiring process and she has moved through it all with so much beauty and grace.
Thankfully she has only had 1 infection and that occurred in August 2010. She had to have one of the implants removed and then inserted again. It was a rather scary situation since her breast tripled in size in a period of hours.
But today is the final procedure. The cherry on top of her sundaes so to speak. She has also found out that she has carpal tunnel in one of her wrists/thumb so they are going to be doing a procedure to deal with that while she is under.
I wanted to comment about the wonderful care that she has received Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. Her plastic surgeon is an amazing man. I've had the opportunity to meet him a few times. I am so thankful she has had such a wonderful team helping her through this tiring process.

Thank you all for your support, thoughts, and prayers over the past couple of years. I have greatly appreciated each and every one of them.
If you have it in you for one more today, I should would appreciate it.
Thanks again and much love to you all....

Woohoo its Friday people. Anyone else excited for the weekend or at least the end of the work week....
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the horrible devastation that has hit the Midwest recently. As a girl born and raised in the Midwest, Southern Illinois specifically, my heart goes out to Harrisburg and the surrounding communities. Stay safe out there everyone.
Feel free to take a look at this great and informative post by Mandy at House of Rose

Today is the 1st day of March. Do you know what that means....
Its the 1st day of Mustache March. This is the only good part of Mr. Jetplane being gone all of March. (Praying he's shaved when I head down to Vegas next week.)

Its the 1st day of Mustache March. This is the only good part of Mr. Jetplane being gone all of March. (Praying he's shaved when I head down to Vegas next week.)
You can read up on Mustache March here and the great fighter pilot, Robin Olds, that inspired it. I highly suggest reading his book Fighter Pilot, its amazing.
It would be a great gift for any guy or gal if you're interested in fighter pilot history. Olds was quite a character. I've listened to it on CD twice, since my husband was so obsessed. And Mr. Jetplane received a signed copy of the book by Robin Old's daughter as a gift from his commander while he was deployed.
We've been lucky enough to meet and speak with someone that knew and fought side by side with Olds. It was an honor and a privilege to hear his old war stories about people and events that you've only read about and he lived right through them.
Anyway...I digress
So tell me why would a guy with a face like that want that nasty thing on his face :(
