Oh CRUD...

Being a military wife is not always that different from being the wife of a banker, a fireman, or salesman. You attend 'company' functions, be mindful not to make a total ahole out of yourself, and always make nice with the boss's wife. Its pretty much the same in any line of business your spouse is in, right?
So when you're at a squadron function and the commander's wife asked you to join the officer's wives team for a game you've never heard of...of course you say...yeah why not. And then when she announces....don't worry we're not that violent...you think to yourself, what the hell have I gotten myself into and proceed to scan youtube for videos of this game.
So today I ask any and everyone out there.... Have you ever played Crud?
Mr told me I would have fun and it will be a great way to meet other wives. I agree but I'm uber competitive and if I suck at something...well then I prefer to not do it...yeah that's a sad fact about Mrs. Jetplane. I won't really try to get better, I'll just quit...ask my pretty pink golf clubs in the garage...
So while I was looking for videos of CRUD this popped up...OMG its funny...you'll get a lil shot of the game.
(Back story - classes always put together a video usually making fun of themselves, others, the squadron, whatever and its shown to the class...alot of these are posted on youtube and they are really funny. Most of them make fun of how ridiculous fighter pilots are... and I can speak from experience...alot of the stereotypes are true which makes it sooo much better).

We are blocked from You Tube but I am dying to know what this game is!
I've never played crud, but I'm the same way about things I'm not good at. I find it very frustrating to be bad at something and I play games for FUN, so if I stink... then I just pack up my ball and move along :)
I am totally the same way with things that I'm not good at. Ugh. And especially if I have to do it in front of other people.... and to make it worse - people that I either don't know well or don't want to look bad in front of!

I'm the same way! If I'm not really good at something, I usually don't keep doing it either. Uber competitive.
just found your blog! very funny about the things you aren't good at. I will usually tell people I'm not good at something, then secretly train and get good, so next time it comes up I look like a natural. sad....HA!
I have never played crud, but I've watched it be played. It is a combo of pool (without the pool cues) and just crazy drinking. I hear it can be fun.
I knew I used to play that game in college! I guess I learned it with military people or something. My dad was an AF pilot and he definitely made fun of himself!
We play that game a lot in YoungLife but we call it PIG. If the person ahead of you makes a shot, you get a letter (just like in basketball). 2nd round order is the reverse order of who got out first.
We have broken a few windows with the cue ball popping up unexpectedly so be careful!
I love Crud! It's a classic O'Club social game. I'm totally bad at it, but it's fun to play. Good to learn it early on. Crud, bunko, and wine- the things that make a good military wife!
