Residing in a Construction Zone

Casa de Jetplane is in various states of disrepair or repair depending on how you look at it. Its exciting but its annoying at the same time. We hope to be getting gloriously dark, hand-strapped hard woods throughout the main living areas installed next week. But before that could happen we had to pull up the 20+ yr old thick-as-hell carpet, carpet pad, tack strips, and countless staples. Don't even get me started on the stairs leading to the loft...
So needless to say, we've been walking on backer board for about 2 weeks and everyone is annoyed, including the dogs. So much so, that they have agreed to lay together in the living room, which rarely happens...
Last night we began tackling the installation of the 1/4" plywood and I got to try to the air compressor staple gun that shoots 1" long staples. UMMMM....it was awesome and I loved it. So much more fun the job that Mr had, measures and cutting all the wood to fit...boo.
But as with any home improvement tasks, us Jetplanes prefer to stay hydrated with adult beverages. Guess who's is who?
Doesn't everyone drink lil cheap champagne and a Tall Boy of Coors Light while installing plywood...no just us? Oh well... We're saving ourselves over $2,000 by doing this ourselves, that deserves a drink, right?
Wish us luck, we're installing the kitchen, living room, and hallway tonight and this weekend....

my future brother and sister in law just re-did their floors and it proved to be quite an adventure- sure does teat your marriags =) Good luck!
Can't wait to see the finished product! I'm sure it's going to look awesome!
And, think of all the money you're saving by not drinking the good stuff...
Oh you're not the only ones...we have been tearing off wallpaper and painting this week. You better believe we are refreshing ourselves with some ice cold Bud Light :)
It looks like your dogs are feeling right at home though!
girl i drank an entire six pack while painting out living room last year. that's the only way i'll paint, slightly intoxicated. otherwise it's just plain boring!
Aww poor dogs, I bet they're soooo sad to have to deal with moving where they sleep due to floor work! LOL!
I WISH I had some cheap champagne tonight! Sounds great!
Your dogs are adorable!! Good luck with installing the floors!
