Fake it till you make it...
That's a common motto of the Jetplanes...
As a young married couple (yes we still consider 30 yr olds very young) trying to save money and remodel their 2nd house, fake it till you make it is something we do on the daily. You see I am one that you would call having...champagne taste on a beer budget...that comes to clothes, shoes, and home decor.
So when it comes to the living room we needed something to use as an entertainment center. I had my eye on something similar to the PB option below.

Which can be yours for a cool $3k. ummm yeah not gonna happen at all. So what's a girl to do with oh about zero dollars to spend on this.
Well I decided to pull into 2 book cases that I used in my office in the previous house...
ala Walmart for around $99.00 a piece. Mr. Jetplane successfully mounted the television on the wall between the bookcases but we still needed something to go in between.
We needed found a black tv stand at Target.
In order to bring it up a notch we added a lil hardware from Lowes. FYI these will also be used on our cabinets in the kitchen (when we get around to that). We purchased the tv stand for under $40.

So my entertainment center might not be as awesome as PB's option, but its under $300.00.
Not too bad if I do say so myself... oh sorry for the craptastic pictures, they are all taken with my blackberry...someone has lost the charger for the camera :(

More Pottery Barn Inspiration
I had you take a peek at the buffet that I am interested in so I thought I've give you a look at something else I've been kicking around.
I have a love of interesting artwork, but unfortunately I have no funds for it. And seeing how we're still renting at the moment, I'm concerned about buying too much and it not working in our future home.
The Jetplanes style modern classic, well at least that's what I called it. Its not overly feminine, minimal flowers, dark woods, etc. I take a lot of inspiration from Pottery Barn.
Case in point this:

Okay, this is just inspiration. I love that this piece is made of wood (or atleast looks like it is). However, I'm not loving the colors, its a little too country for me but the concept I love. So instead of the painted distressed wood, I'm thinking staining the wood in different light to dark stains.

Now you're thinking.... Mrs. Jetplane how are you going to accomplish this? Well, enter Mr. Jetplane. He has passed his certification and can use the carpentry shop on base in Randolph and since he's totally bored out there I'm going to ask him to make this for us. **He has no idea right now...
But on base he has used of every single carpentry tool you could think of and he desperately wants to start making stuff, so what I better first project, right? And its definitely a lot cheaper than the $399 it would cost us to buy it from Pottery Barn.

Pretty lil things
Oh how I love you Pottery Barn. You make me day dream about being the Hostess with the Mostest. You make me want to buy everything.
I find these Art Nouveau Double Old-Fashioned glasses adorable. I can imagine have cocktails and appetizers with friends with the lovely glasses. They sell for $39.00 for a set of 4.

Wow, its probably a little too early for a drink, right? Its 5 O'Clock somewhere....
