What's Good in the Hood
Well I'd like to tell you that the Jetplanes had a relaxing weekend snuggling my the fire (we finally figured out how to use our gas fireplace) and watching the Colts beat the Jags...but sadly I cannot.
Friday we high tailed it up to Boise to pick up our final interior doors for the house. The linen closet door the smallest and the most expensive, had to be custom ordered...BOO. The pantry door, thank goodness, was stock. We also purchased the baseboards for the living room, family room, kitchen, and hallway. We purchased contractor packs, they aren't the glamorously tall and detailed baseboards we originally wanted but hey...things add up so somethings are sacrificed. I am loving my new appliances though:)
After that we met up with a couple from our squadron and ate all you can eat sushi at a new sushi place. Since they just opened (without a liquor license yet) we headed over to Cheesecake factory for drinks and of course desert, yeah I'm a fat ass so what.
Saturday morning bright and early we got up and hung the doors. Be hold all new doors (minus the closet doors on the side those are for the laundry area and our utility room)
We then headed back up to Boise to enjoy the NIU v Fresno State Bowl game. Mr Jetplane is an NIU alum and I got us 1/2 off tickets on Groupon. Mr had a couple of frat brothers in town as well so we partied it up at the NIU alum reception and then had great seats for the game. We got to watch NIU beat up on Fresno, much to the surprise and anger of a couple Boise State fans that were chatting it up around us. We were rolling deep with some Chicago Southsiders so I'm not sure they knew what could happen if they kept running their mouths.... oh well.
We had a great time. So much fun that we ended up skipping our squadron Holiday party.
After the win we got on the field and them BAM it started crazy snowing!!! It was awesome!

Sunday morning I awoke to the sound of rushing water and then drip, drip, drip. Our roof is leaking...our NEW ROOF. The NEW ROOF that we had put on in order for us to purchase the house. It was dropping water right by Milo's bed and he was freaked out and lil pissed off. Needless to say, we are not happy and the roofer was out here a couple of months ago to fix the problem...obviously its not fixed....mmmm.
Mr decided to open up the ceiling...oh joy!
I refused to sleep in there last night so we're kickin it in the guest bedroom. Thank God our houseguest left on Thursday...I washed the sheets and threw away the pillows he'd been sleepin on. Mr didn't want to sleep on them either.
Anyway - the rest of yesterday Mr. measured and cut all the baseboards. (Yeah trim...we've lived without since August). We'll start installing tonight.
We installed the chair rail for the kitchen bead board yesterday. Its crazy how different the house is looking. Its been a lot of work, and we still have more to go, but its really been a rewarding experience seeing the changes the house is making.
Next on the list - PAINTING, we have more coats of white for the stairway, trim, bead board, new doors, and then onto the kitchen cabinets....
We are trying to get as much done as possible before Mr deploys in 2011. Its coming up and no matter what I can't wish it away. When he gets back from the desert we will be totally renovating the 2 bathrooms, so that's something to keep my occupied while he's off doing God knows what over there :)

Hello Smurf Turf!!! I still find it crazy to see mountains in the background. I'm not used to it yet.

I GO BACK
Do you have songs that take you right back to a certain time in your life? I listen to these songs and go me right back to hanging out with my girls or a certain someone in college... Here's a little trip down Memory Lane with Mrs. Jetplane this morning...
Burn one Down - Ben Harper
My ex in college introduced me to him back in 1998. He was his favorite person in the entire world and had met him several times. He was borderline obsessed with the man. He is now my go to long-distance driving music and has phenomenal live shows.
Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer
I distinctly remember junior year of college the first time my (same) ex (Mr. Baseball) played this for me in his is apartment. He said it made him think of me. Yeah...that's all this girl needed. My ex also wrote poetry...yeah I know. He once referred to me in his poem as his girl with coffee and 2 creams complexion (I was tanorexic back in the day). I don't know why but that has always stuck with me.
One More Time - Daft Punk
Oh yeah... Mrs. Jetplane was hardcore lover of techno music. I would rock out with the best of them at my college's dance clubs.... no doubt. I still enjoy listening to it while working out... mr and I might be driving home from a night out...we might pop it in and shake our groove things on the way.....Oh who likes to party...we like to party!!!
Some of the music may have even been busted out at our wedding.... see here is proof!!
Glowsticks and all... I bought them at the Dollar Store. The best $3.00 I ever spent.
It got crazy up on the dance floor... and yes that's my maid of honor...don't worry... she's a Doctor.
Gravel - Ani Defranco
One of if not my favorite singer/performer is Ani Defranco. This song reminds me of my friend K and I rocking out to it in her green Cavalier and screaming out the words..."You may keep me from ever being happy but you're not going to stop me from having FUN!!!" No truer words were ever spoken..or so we thought.
If I had a million dollars - Barenaked Ladies
This song automatically takes me to living in the sorority house driving around campus, perhaps skipping class, in Lou's red Acura, sun roof open and singing our hearts out... you want to stare at us...go right ahead!!
To quote my sorority's song...
"These are the days you'll remember. Never before and never since, I promise, will the whole world be warm as this. And as you feel it, you'll know it's true that you are blessed and lucky. It's true that you are touched by something that will grow and bloom in you."
That song is a perfect way to explain my college experience.... oh how I miss you...

Oh Baby...
This is a post about babies... NO! I repeat NO! The Jetplanes aren't pregnant but it sure feels like everyone else is.
And just to make myself clear.... I am over the moon happy for them. But its still a weird conversation, because as I've stated before, I'm still a little immature about the situation (even though I am 29 yrs old). And I still feel like in some ways we aren't old enough to start having babies yet...even though I totally know that we are. I never said I was rational in my thought process about this...
Its just crazy because we've went through years of people NOT wanting to get pregnant and now you are in a time where people are wanting/trying to get pregnant.
Here's how the convo went down...
Lou: "I'm pregnant!!"
Me: "OMG! Really! Seriously! I'm so... wait are we excited? We are excited, right?"
Lou: "Yes! We're happy! It wasn't planned but we're happy!"
Me: "Great! Because I'm totally crying over here! I'm so happy for you guys!"
Its still strange because I feel like, even though we've all been out of college for going on 7 years now...wow 7 years... I still feel like we're those young college girls in our black minis, backless shirts, and knee high black boots...going out hitting the town, doing shots, and dancing to techno music until 5 in the morning...
But (un)fortunately we are not... Our alcohol tolerance has decreased and our skirt lengths have increased but our love for one another has always remained the same.
Now...when are the Jetplanes going to have a baby? Not for some time...

Mrs. Jetplane loves Ruffles..

To address some of your questions..
Yes it is BCBG. I purchased mine at my local Dillard's on Friday while they were having a 30% off EVERYTHING sale. I went in to buy some make up and came out with makeup and a dress, oh well. I really like the dress but here's a couple of issues.
1. It is very low cut in the front. I don't have much of a chest, but was concerned about the bra I would wear.
2. The cut is a little low in the underarms... also a concern with a bra.
3. While is it not "see-through" and has a liner, the fabric is still very thin and luckily I packed smart and bought several pairs of underwear and spandx if necessary.
But all that being said, I still love the dress. And I'm so glad you all did too.

Here's part of our crew with the bride. Everyone, excluding Mr. Jetplane, attended the same college. Please excuse the water spots on my dress, someone dropped her fork into her lap during dinner and her husband was rushed to the bar to bring some water so she could clean it. No worries... crisis was averted.
** Disclaimer** Pictures were stolen from someone's Facebook.
And finally.... THANK YOU to all who have recently given me awards. I promise that I will post them soon. I'm sorry, I'm a bad lil blogger. I love you all and I deeply appreciate any and everyone that reads and actually like my lil blog.
XOXO

These are the days to remember...
This weekend one of my lovely friends is getting hitched. And I am beyond excited for her and for me.... because I get to see everyone.
Lou and I have been friends since freshman year of college. We were in the same pledge class and lived in the same dorm. I attended my 1st 'frat' party with her, met my 1st 'college' boyfriend with her, and got into all sorts of fun and trouble with her. I love her to death and I'm beyond thrilled for her and her soon to be hubby.
Now I'm not the most southern person she knows.... that's an inside joke b/c I'm from Southern Illinois and she's from the Northern Suburbs of Chicago. She always told me I'm the most southern person she knew... well know she's married a true southern man, graduate of UGA, and has southern accent and everything... ha ha.... I think its too funny and I remind her of it all the time.
Can't wait to see everyone this weekend. Jill... if you are reading this, I am bringing my laptop and video from my wedding. BP is hilarious and you have to see it.
Enjoy your weekend... I know I will...

*Pics are from our Vegas adventure in celebration of The Jetplanes' impeding wedding... It was a crazy fun weekend.
**These are the Days- was our sorority song... extra special shout out there...

I got myself an M.R.S. degree...
Well that's what Mama Jetplane always referred to her education as, she never had the opportunity to go to college. She got pregnant with me and then married my "biological" father.
She was so proud of my achievements throughout high school and college, and was delighted that I got a great paying job right out of college. She was sad I moved away, but happy for my independence. I would never "need" to count on a man for survival, the way she felt she had to when married to my dad. I could and would provide for myself.
But I totally digress. The Jetplanes' are going back to college. Well, Mr. Jetplane is going back taking some online courses, and Mrs. Jetplane feels like she is too. I'm going to be there (in spirit) with me, step by step, reviewing all his papers, giving him advice, etc. We have our 1st paper due this week. He's totally stressed out and thinks he's taking on too much which he very well might be (EWO school, physical therapy, 2 grad school classes, and wife to tend to). I think he's going to drop one of the classes, I think its a good idea. He's going to keep his Ethics class, he says he can BS his way through that.... (yes, that's my hubby)
Why is Mr. Jetplane going back to college - well in order to make Major (which won't happen for a long ass time) he has to have a Masters degree.
Will Mrs. Jetplane go back to school... I'm not sure. I entertain that thought A LOT. I think about going and getting my MBA or even an M.A., but I don't think I could do it right now. We'll see what the future holds and I'll keep you updated on Mr. Jetplane.
Oh, and Mr. Jetplane has agreed to answer all your questions. So keep them coming... Fair warning... he's extremely sarcastic, as noted above, and I'll be posting him responses word for word.
XOXO

These are the days to remember...
To quote the song, which was my sorority's song by the way...
So Facebook has become somewhat of an addiction for Mrs. Jetplane and last night my friend Amy posted some college photos.
Ignore the time stamp, I was not in college in 1994.
Here's some of the crew in front of our duplex senior year. We lived very close to the Zoo, which was a house that a bunch of Pikes lived in. At EIU we had beer breakfasts all the time. Which basically meant, you started partying at 8 or 9 am, or you stayed up all night to keep partying. This day was out of control and totally fun.

And here is Mrs. Jetplane at her college graduation in 2002. I can't be believe how tan I was back then. I was some what addicted to tanning.

Oh college, I miss you so much...
