3 Years Ago Today...

I married the man I adore, the man that makes my world go round, and the man that brings a smile to my face.

I am so thankful that he is my husband and I am honored to be called his wife. Mr. Jetplane is a man's man and I love that about him. He makes me feel safe and cared for. He is dependable and reliable. He is honest and trustworthy. He is a hard worker and never sees a limit to what he can do.

He is a big kid and will never grow up. He is a go-getter and helps make me want to be more everyday. He is a true partner in my life and I so grateful that he wanted to spend his life with me.

This isn't an easy life. But its our life and I'll walk hand and hand with this man through any and every challenge that could stand in our way.

There is not another man in this world that knows me, the real me, the way Mr. Jetplane does. Its refreshing to be married to a man that knows everything about me - the good, the bad, and the ugly and loves me anyway. There is no sugar coating with us. We're real with each other at all times. We are partners in crime and are truly each other's best friend.

Happy Anniversary Babe. I love you more today than yesterday and I can't wait till you're back home where you belong.

xoxo

Paula can't ruin this day...

Better late than never, right? Well as promised here's a follow up post from the Jetplanes' Mexican Adventure. Even though we had a hell of a time getting down there, it was worth all the trouble.
Mr. Jetplane, as always, had a great time...As you can see by the picture he decided to join in with the band during the cocktail hour...oh yes I was ever the proud wife...

The first day we were welcomed by the Bride and Groom and had a fabulous Cocktail Meet and Greet. We had delicious food and drink, and broke it down at da club....
Let's just say...there was alot of fun being had by all. After a travel nightmare its good to let loose with several adult beverages...right?
The next day was the wedding and after all the drama from Hurricane Paula, it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day in Mexico. I had always envisioned Jill getting married on the beach. There is only 1 thing that you have to worry about when getting married on a beach resort... Guys in speedos...Thankfully my drunk husband liked to take pictures of the randoms walking by and gawking at the wedding. I'd like to say this is the only one...but I can't :)

Here is the lovely bride walking down with her father.

The whole wedding party as they exchange vows...I may have cried. Look at that sky...seriously wasn't a hurricane supposed to hit? Maybe it did...in the form of our friend that ended up in the pool. This picture is of him fully clothed...thankfully we don't have pictures when he wasn't :)
Here are a few additional pictures from the photographer. I think you can really see how truly happy they are. I love these pictures.

Here we are getting her together before the I do's.
Here's the whole crew that attended the festivities. Screw you Paula!
And just for fun... Congrats Jill and Billy....we love you. xoxo

We're Back...

That bitch Paula and U.S. Airways ain't goin to keep me out Mexico for wedding...

I promise to fill you in on all the juicy details from the wedding weekend which included

1 drunk husband and 3 orders of room service club sandwiches that he passed out before he ate

1 jump into the pool during the reception (perhaps not fully clothed...this was not drunk husband)

1 fabulous couple who got married on a beach (with 2 beautiful dresses)

1 hell of a day before the trip trying to get down there after my flight was cancelled

But it was all worth it!!

p.s. due to trip, previous flu before trip, and laziness I fell off the fit train for Project Get Sexy...I ran today, it was NOT PRETTY!!! Mr told me that for every week you don't run you lose 2 weeks of training...well I've been bad for 2 weeks so you do the painful math there :(

Friends till the End

Its not just a great Lifetime movie starting Ms. Shannen Doherty, it exemplifies how I feel about a certain friend of mine.

Tomorrow the Jetplanes are heading south to enjoy the wedding festivities of one of my best friends in the entire world, Jill. Jill is getting married to her long time beau and I am thrilled to be able to partake in the ceremonies and be one of her bridesmaids.

I cannot say enough kind words about Jill. She is and always has been this positive ray of energy that makes everyone happy around her. She has an amazing sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She's a true friend and will have your back no matter what.

I met Jill freshman year of college. We were in the same rush class. We were suite mates in the sorority house. We hung out every single weekend and most days during the week. We had a lot of fun crazy times...some which we might not always remember :) or some we wish we could forget.

But on top of all of that, Jill is truly a walking miracle. Right after graduating from college I moved to Indy and Jill stayed in her hometown (our college town). She was working at a clothing store in the mall during the time right after graduation. We had all planned to converge back at college for Homecoming, which at my school was a weekend of pure debauchery that wasn't beat the entire year, and believe me WE TRIED.

I don't recall who called me, but I got a call letting me know Jill was in a terrible car accident. She suffered some pretty severe injuries including breaking neck. She broke the same vertebra as Christopher Reeves, luckily hers broke the opposite direction that his did.

Yes, she was "this close" to be paralyzed. "THIS CLOSE" to being paralyzed. I remember getting to see her for the 1st time. I saw her right after she got out of the hospital. She was sitting in her mom's car, in a Chinese food restaurant parking lot and I can honestly say I was scared to see my friend. I was happy to see my friend alive and believe it or not, still smiling, but I was sad to see my friend in a halo. I wanted to give her a hug but couldn't, really. Over the next few months, I tried to visit her as much as I could. Luckily, living in Indy I was only about 2 hours away from her.

She had a rough road ahead of her but she went through it like a champ. She battled through her recovery and came out on the other side a hell of a woman. As I said before, she is truly a walking miracle and I'm lucky to have her in my life and honored to call her my friend. Every single time I see her, I thank God for keeping her in our life and allowing her to walk. I honestly think about it every single time.

I love you Jilly Bean. You are a wonderful woman and I'm so completely thrilled to watch you marry your best friend this week. You deserve all the happiness in the entire world.

Need a Vacation from my Vacation

The Jetplanes headed back to Illinois on Thursday afternoon and got back on Monday afternoon. Let me tell you, while the trip was great...it went by way too fast and I am totally exhausted from it.

Sadly we had to put our 2 furbabies in the kennel, and let me tell you they are still tired lil boys, and probably still a lil pissed off at us. I hate putting them in a kennel, Milo hasn't been boarded in almost 4 years and last time Charlie was boarded he cried and didn't want to eat....yeah needless to say we were worried.

Thankfully, it looks like all went well, except the kennel owner kept calling Milo by the wrong name....he kept calling him Otis. Yeah...I know. But enough of me being the crazy dog mama that I am.

The trip was jammed packed with family, friends, and tons o' fun. I got to see my mama, Mr's grandma, our newest nephew, my grandpa, and tons of friends. We got to attend a fabulous wedding at a gorgeous venue, drank too much champagne and danced our booties off.

I seriously love attending weddings, especially those of my friends. I miss my friends so very much and its wonderful to get to see them at these important events. I love breaking it down on the dance floor with my friends and feel like we're taken right back to senior year of college...perhaps... dropping it like its hot on the dance floor.

You want to know what song takes me straight back to college days partying it up at the college parties, afterhours, beer breakfasts, etc....

Within the next year, all of my best girlfriends will be married ladies. Its so amazing to see us all growing and becoming wives and mothers. I love meeting and developing relationships with their husbands and babies.

Sadly my camera was D-E-A-D at the wedding...but I do have 1 picture. Thanks to my cell phone which was ALMOST dead.

Hope to steal some from others off of Facebook.

Side note - I was in desperate need of an eyebrow waxing so I got mine did at a Mastercuts near Mr's brother's house and he decided he'd get a haircut. Poor guy the woman brutalized his hair...he is still livid. Just because he's in the military people doesn't mean he gets a buzzcut...poor guy :(

2 Years Ago Today....

I became a wife...2 years ago today I became the wife of Mr. Jetplane. I'm not going to lie to you all and say that these past 2 years have been easy peasy, because they haven't been. We've had plenty of struggles like any young couple do, and plenty of hiccups along the road thanks to Uncle Sam and the great USAF. But I love this man.
This man is cheesy, handsome, lil cocky, and a deep down a softie (don't tell him I said that). This week he graduates from the B-Course, his final section of flight school, and I don't think I could be any prouder of him.

So thank you Mr. Jetplane for making me...the crazy, messy, neurotic basketcase that I am, your wife on that fine June afternoon 2 years ago.

I love you....always.

What's YOUR Song??

The Jetplanes have plenty of songs that are special to us. Songs that take us back to a special time in our lives individually and together. But there is one song that is very special to us and I like to credit as the reason we are together today.

For those of you that don't know the story of the Jetplanes, well that's a long one and will not make it all in this post...sorry. But let's us stay, the military wasn't initially part of the plan. Falling in love with a man that was going into the military was never a future this 'career' girl had in mind when she met Mr. Jetplane for our 1st date at the TGIFridays in Indy (that is now a Crate and Barrel).

But all those things happened and caused a lot of tension between us when Mr. Jetplane found out that he'd been accepted into Officer Training School, and would eventually be traveling all over the country (and world) for the next 20 years. Where did that leave me with my career and life, at that time in Indy. He didn't know if I was 'the one' that he was going to marry and I didn't know if he was "the one" either. But he knew he didn't want to me to resent him for changing my career and possibly my life goals, for him.

So what did he do, well like any scared boy, he broke up with me....Yeah he sure did, and he tried to do over email while we were both at work...yeah he sure did...

But I wouldn't let that happen, and I forced him to come to my apartment that night and break it off if that's what he wanted to do. I questioned his reasonings and I could tell he definitely wasn't firm in them. I could tell he was shaken and upset by this decision he'd made.

Well little did I know then (what I know now) that he got in his truck to drive himself home that night and put on this song...

And he proceed to listen to the song the entire month we were broken up...

It made him realize his feelings for me and whether or not, we were supposed to be together forever, he knew he didn't want to lose us...

Obviously we did end up back together, thanks to ME, and that my children is also another tale for another time...

So needless to say, this had to be the Jetplanes wedding song, right???

To all you lovely readers...what is your song? Any story behind it?

Its You & Me...

Well folks here she is...

My Kitchen Aid Mixer that I HAD TO HAVE during the registry time. My mom bought it for me prior to the wedding for a shower gift. I love it, its my favorite color. I love to cook but I'm not the best baker, which is even funnier but since I'm anon I won't go into that...

This is my 2010 Resolution #7. See list below...

So its You and Me, Ms. Thang... this year we're going to tangle. We're gonna mix sh!t, as Ms. Kate has so eloquently put it before. Its gonna happen. I've had you since Spring 2008...I think its about time I tried you out.

Pray for me... so far I'm the lady that buys cookie dough in the pre-cut squares or buys the bags of blueberry muffin mix where you just add water...

2009...Can't Say I'm Sad to see YOU go...

Wow!!! 2009 was a hell of a year, full of really high highs and really low lows. I had the best of intentions putting together a fabulous post full of pictures and details of our year.
But then I have to admit that I am lazy (something I plan to work on in 2009) and then I got a little depressed about 2009 and stopped. Then I restarted and the stopped... also a running theme for 2009.
So I decided to leave you with pictures from our year and little bits of info here and there.
Unfortunately these are not in chronological order...accept my apologies...

Hit up ATL for the wedding of one of my lovely friends and bridesmaid, Lou. We had a wonderful time, and I drank way to much. Someone may have mounted a statue in the lobby, there were pictures but my computer crashed and those were lost.

We went up to Chicago for a long weekend. Visited friends and attending a Cubs v. Cards game.
I ran into this HOT MESS outside the Cubby Bear... i.e. what not to wear to a Cubs game. FYI it was cold that day.

Celebrated our 1 year anniversary with a short trip to Biloxi. Where I learned that I love Black Jack almost as much as I love Mr. Jetplane. We attended a wedding in STL and got to go to another Cubs v. Cards game in STL. Notice me and Dr. A are supporting different teams?? Yeah! I also got into an agrument with a fat, drunk Cardinals fan at the bar that night... I think I won... We went on a week long boat trip in Kentucky with several of Mr. Jetplane's frat brothers.
Mr. Jetplane became SCUBA certified and we learned to sail (I attempted to learn how to sail)
The Jetplanes moved to NC and Mr. started flying in the F15e. Oh and we BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! And I started working from home.
This year has been filled with a lot of heartache too... I lost my step-grandmother (my only grandmother left) and my great aunt. Mr. Jetplane lost his grandmother.
But there is good news. My mother reconstructive surgery was a success and she is recovering nicely.
The 2 weddings I mentioned above...both of those girls are pregnant one due this month and the other due in May.
Its been a year of ups and downs...
What's up for 2010? Hopefully alittle more of this...

And this...

Happy New Year!! My 2010 Plan is forth coming...

Pug Friday - Vegas Edition

In honor of the Jetplanes recent Vegas Vacay I thought we'd have a themed Pug Friday for all you lovely readers.

Enjoy!

Sorry I haven't given you a post about Vegas. The Jetplanes are leaving on Sunday for a weekend long lake vacay and needless to say, I'm a busy bee at work.

But here's a brief rundown.

1. I am currently nursing an injury that I gave to myself sober, when I fell in the middle of the MGM Grand. Wearing my very cute white/purple dress (didn't wear to the wedding).

2. Someone I was with took their shirt off at a blackjack table...2x.

3. I had to call my hubby to come get me. I had NO money and didn't bring my debit card out on purpose.

4. I did shots.. I never do shots. (reason to follow)

5. I didn't get to bed on Saturday morning until around 5am. Wedding at 2pm on Saturday.

6. I got us on the guest list for Wet Republic, couldn't go.. (reason to follow)

7. I had the 2nd worst hangover of my entire life. reason I don't do shots!

8. I dry heaved in the limo to the wedding, with Mr. Jetplane's family in the limo. The A/C was seriously blowing out hot air, and it was already 105 outside. **I start crying when I dry heave..TMI...maybe.

9. I had to have the limo drop me off at the hotel after the ceremony so I could throw up and sleep.

10. Met up with the crew 5 hours later at Slots of Fun with $3 tables and played black jack for 5 hours on $40. Came out $6.50 ahead.

11. I wore my blue shoes to the wedding, and got a lot of compliments. Too bad my ankle was/is bruised and swollen and I had to walk around in 4 inch heels.

12. I have like 3 pictures from the entire trip.

13. I was seriously a HOT MESS. Not proud of myself and Mr. Jetplane says his sister and I are even.

14. I did apologize to her and her husband like no more than 10x. They supposedly didn't care. Their MOH was wasted at the wedding and hit on the limo driver (man) and the minister (woman).

Vegas Baby! Vegas!

Pug 1 found here

Sorry I don't recall where I found Pug 2

The Jetplanes are soooo money...

The Jetplanes are heading to Vegas this afternoon. Normally, I would (and should) be very excited about this trip, however I'm not.
#1 I really don't have the bandwidth at work right now to take a vacay, especially since I'm going to be out all next week for our real vacay that we have planned for like 6 months.

#2 Its for Mr. Jetplane's sister's wedding. Which we found about it last month. We aren't besties by any means and certain things happened at my wedding which I still hold a grudge about. Even though Mr. Jetplane had a long talk with me during our dog walk last night, begging and telling me I seriously need to let it go. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can.

That being said, I'm not going to do anything to ruin her day, I wouldn't do that.

But I have packed 3 dresses - the white/purple one and 2 black ones. I'm also bringing my new bright blue shoes...

So I'm going to pre-apologize for my lack of posts in the coming days.
I'm sure I'll come back with all sorts of 'good' stories.

You want a little backstory

Well you can feel free to learn a little more about the past with my sis in law here.

Let's us say that we are VERY different people. She has decided to get married next month in Vegas on a Tuesday the week before the Jetplanes are going on a week long vacation. We found out about this last week and I had to beg to get time off. We're flying out late afternoon on a Monday and back on Wednesday morning. Yeah! Vegas for like 48 hours, maybe.

Due to the time frame and the distance from all of her family and friends, very few people will be able to be in attendance. In total maybe 10 people including her and her fiance will be able to make it out.

She made my wedding process and wedding day at times extremely difficult. Not to discuss it too much, but she basically threw a fit the entire length of our engagement knowing that she and her son were going to be in the wedding. She complained about everything from having to get a dress, being asked to attend the shower (which she didn't do), rehearsal dinner, getting her hair did (which I paid for), the brunch the next day (which she threw a fit in front of all our family and friends), and let her child pee in my parents back yard next to the pool. Oh yeah! Good times all around. I'm not even going into detail here... it was so out of control that I nearly lost my freaking mind.

Mr. Jetplane says I need to get over it... I don't think I'll ever be able to accomplish that... sorry I'm not that big of a person...

Newest Addition to Mrs. Jetplane's Closet

So I went to the mall to take a look at the BCBG sale since I had mutliple coupons. Unfortunately I didn't see anything worth buying but I did find this lil number... of course NOT on sale.

Click the picture for info on the dress.

Now the question is, it is ok to wear this to Mr. Jetplane's sister's Vegas wedding next month?(that we just found out about...btw...total side story...really annoyed....will discuss later..)

Your advice is needed sweet readers...

Looking back... a belated post

Good Morning to All... I hope you all enjoyed a great weekend, the Jetplanes sure did. As you know we celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. We can hardly believe it, it has been one year already. An anniversary weekend post coming up, but since I didn't have time to do a post yesterday and since a number of new readers have joined lately, I thought I'd take you down memory lane with the Jetplanes.

I love this picture. To me he's like "We're going all in right??". Of course we are honey!! All in for life!
And this picture shows the mishap that happened during our vows. Mr. Jetplane called me his AWFUL WIFE instead of his LAWFUL WIFE. It was hilarious and he felt so bad. It was funny, and I wasn't mad at all. To be honest, I had a feeling he was going to get caught up in his vows.

Another funny story about our wedding. Mr. Jetplane winged 3 weeks before the wedding and had his final PT test the week before the wedding (this allows him to get his 'hard' wings). The day of his final flight he went to the beach on base with some friends. He jumped off of one of the platforms that they in the water on the beach on base and broke 4 bones in his foot. He had to wear a boot for 3 weeks.
** I informed him that day, he would not be wearing that boot in our wedding.
The week before the wedding, in order to get his actual wings he had to pass his PT test, normally not a big deal for him. However he had to run a 2 miles in his boot in order to pass and get his wings. If not, then he'd have to wait 4 weeks for the next class to finish so he could take it with them. Well, he was determined that he was going to wear his wings on our wedding day. So he ran 2 miles in his boot, I would have paid money see him hobbling along for 2 miles. He did actually pass 1 person.
FYI- he also went on his bachelor party in Chicago with his boot on. Ha Ha... serves him right.
