Makes me happy...
Do you ever have those songs that just make you happy? Songs that put you in a good mood?
Sure I have songs that makes me want to dance, lift of a glass, or sing along (or maybe even cry) but some songs just make me happy. They lift my spirit and sometimes we need a lil lift, am I right?
You may have seen a portion of this on the Super Bowl. Its a great song but the video is pretty darn cool.
And this song makes me delirious happy for some reason. It makes driving to the grocery store or typing up my 5th report of the day so much more enjoyable.
What songs are making you happy right now! I can always use a lil more cheer in my days!
And if those songs don't make you happy how about this....
MAD MEN IS COMING BACK!!!!

It creeps up on you sometimes...
I like to say I'm a pretty strong brawd. I can deal with alot and you'll never see me sweat. So far during this deployment I've taken some pretty strong hits and stood my ground.
I haven't broken down and cried very much and think that's a pretty big accomplishment. But I'm not too proud to admit that I randomly cry while I'm driving. I don't cry at the thought of him being gone but I cry at the thought of him coming home...is that weird? I start daydreaming about his homecoming and the tears start to flow. I allow myself to fantasize about what its going to be like to see him and running to him. I start thinking about what it will feel like to be in his arms again and feel his kiss on my forehead... and I lose it.
You know what else gets me going...music and this particular song.
I seriously felt like this song was written just for us...songs do that for all of us right? Mr. Jetplane tells me I'm crazy all the time so its only fitting.
On top of that we often say to each other "I miss you like a crazy person" or "I love you like a crazy person". I know it might not make sense to you, but it means something to us. We're both kinda weird and thankfully we found each other, no one else might be able to deal with us :)
But the good news is there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Our homecoming briefing is scheduled for next month...hot damn that excites me to no end. Can't wait to have my man back where he belongs... Mr got delayed getting into country, so I'm pretty sure he'll be one of the last guys back. Sadly I might have to attend 3 or 4 homecomings before I get to enjoy my own. Such is the life...

Truths...
Here are some of the latest things I think I should tell you...
1. I literally clapped my hands and squealed like a lil girl when this happened.
Do we think we'll get to see Eric's "gracious plenty" sometime in the near future...a girl can hope can't she?
2. I have a new love for this song thanks to all the Shark Week...

3. I have been obsessed with these pictures since seeing them on i suwannee blog. They are photographs from Life Magazine. (originally posted here).

I just recently got it matted and framed...Hello Michael's 60% off coupon for custom framing :)
4. Weight Watchers is pissing me off. There I said it. I've been following the plan and I have been going back and forth with the same damn 1.5lbs for 4 weeks now. Its insane. Saturday I weighed myself and I was down 4lbs from Monday of last week. Yesterday...somehow I had gained it all back and remained the same weight from previous weigh in. OMG OMG OMG.... Why must my body refused to drop this weight.

Scenes from this past weekend
Its Monday folks...yeah that's just about as awesome as it sounds.
I don't know about you but I had a great weekend, I was sad to see it go.
Friday we have a ladies night with the squadron wives group. We had a lovely light dinner at a local nursery where they also gave us a demo on container planting. They also happily answered loads of questions about gardening.
Saturday I headed up to Boise. A fellow wife and I hit up a free concert in town. We had the pleasure of enjoying the sounds of these 2.
We had a great time, even though it was warm and there is about zero tree cover in the area. It was a free concert and people watching was more interesting than the music.

Oh, let me add that I caught this lil gem while we were looking for parking. I couldn't help myself.

Sunday afternoon it got HOT, we're talking supposedly 103. But the wonderful thing about the weather out here is that there is no humidity. I decided to bust out the $10 Walmart special kiddie pool for the back yard.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
On a more important note...I took Milo to the vet on Friday. I discovered a hard lump on his leg. The vet did a needle biopsy. It is not a tumor, but we don't quite know what it is yet. It was sent onto a pathology and I hope to know more by Tuesday or Wednesday. Milo is in wonderful spirits and he doesn't seem to feel any pain or favor one leg over the other. But I'm praying hard for my lil hunk of puggie loving. He turned 8 this month. My little old man...
Well stick around this week. I hope to be a lot better blogger.

The Ridiculousness of my Marriage
Is that we get into full on arguments about the dumbest things. I mean REAL dumb sh!t. We'll argue about whether the actor in a movie was in another movie or television show. We'll argue about whether or not we have chicken nuggets in the freezer. We're argue about where we we're going to eat dinner.
You see these aren't life or death issues here... well to be honest we got into a HUGE fight right after Hurricane Katrina and we were driving to a wedding in St Louis from Indianapolis. Let's just say that I didn't speak to him for almost the entire drive. But other than that, we agree on most 'big things' and create WW3 on seriously stupid crap.
So what's our LATEST fight....
This sh!t....I thought for sure we'd be on the same side of this issue, but sadly we are not. I'm uber pissed off that Will Smith has a big enough head to think that he and his young son can remake a CLASSIC. I find it appalling and will not give them ANY of my $. Mr. thinks they might be able to remake it and it be good. Oh and he insists on seeing it...insists!
I mean this is a classic don't mess with a classic.... FYI - this song played on our pre-wedding video shown at the rehearsal dinner for Mr. Jetplane's section of pictures. That's how much this man loves some Karate Kid...

I find that incredibly hard to believe...Jackie Chan people....Jackie Chan is no Mr. Miyagi and Jaden Smith is no Daniel Son.

We're Locked and Loaded People...
The offer is accepted.... I'm a mix of excitement, nerves, smiles, and anxiety.

Wackadoo Wednesday
Hello there... Anyone else flipping out this week? Or is it just me?
Work is insanely busy, probably the busiest its ever been and I am flying out to Idaho on Friday. Yeah, great time to take 2 days off...in the heat of EVERYTHING!!! But alas, it must be done. So today's post is...well...scattered to say the least...the very least.
1. This came out yesterday. And I am pissed that I am too busy to read it all right now. But happy that I might be able to save some of it for the trip to Idaho.

2. My dress arrived yesterday evening...with an ink pen stain on it. So back it has to go and guess what...its BACK ORDERED until 5/21. SWEET!!!! Luckily graduation isn't until June 11th. Look who was planning ahead for once...this gal!
3. Our property management company is coming out to look at our house today. They are getting pictures and evaluating the house to make sure we are pricing the rent correctly. They are trying to get us to list the house...not in this market. We'll see in a year where we stand and where the market stands. We saw this house as an investment, so we're not really interested in selling for a few years.
4. Since I'm going out to Idaho this week, I felt it only natural to listen to the Crazy Heart Soundtrack on repeat. I can just tell you, if I wasn't married to Mr. Jetplane, Ryan Bingham would have to watch out. I love that man's voice with a passion. Don't take my word for it.... take a listen...and a look!
Happy Hump Day... and Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

What's YOUR Song??
The Jetplanes have plenty of songs that are special to us. Songs that take us back to a special time in our lives individually and together. But there is one song that is very special to us and I like to credit as the reason we are together today.
For those of you that don't know the story of the Jetplanes, well that's a long one and will not make it all in this post...sorry. But let's us stay, the military wasn't initially part of the plan. Falling in love with a man that was going into the military was never a future this 'career' girl had in mind when she met Mr. Jetplane for our 1st date at the TGIFridays in Indy (that is now a Crate and Barrel).
But all those things happened and caused a lot of tension between us when Mr. Jetplane found out that he'd been accepted into Officer Training School, and would eventually be traveling all over the country (and world) for the next 20 years. Where did that leave me with my career and life, at that time in Indy. He didn't know if I was 'the one' that he was going to marry and I didn't know if he was "the one" either. But he knew he didn't want to me to resent him for changing my career and possibly my life goals, for him.
So what did he do, well like any scared boy, he broke up with me....Yeah he sure did, and he tried to do over email while we were both at work...yeah he sure did...
But I wouldn't let that happen, and I forced him to come to my apartment that night and break it off if that's what he wanted to do. I questioned his reasonings and I could tell he definitely wasn't firm in them. I could tell he was shaken and upset by this decision he'd made.
Well little did I know then (what I know now) that he got in his truck to drive himself home that night and put on this song...
And he proceed to listen to the song the entire month we were broken up...
It made him realize his feelings for me and whether or not, we were supposed to be together forever, he knew he didn't want to lose us...
Obviously we did end up back together, thanks to ME, and that my children is also another tale for another time...
So needless to say, this had to be the Jetplanes wedding song, right???
To all you lovely readers...what is your song? Any story behind it?

Pug Friday
Happy Pug Friday everyone....
Everyone excited for the weekend? It appears we might have a chilly, icy, and perhaps snowy weekend ahead of us. I hope we get some snow tomorrow. I haven't seen snow in years.
This week's Pug Friday photo reminds me our our dogs. They are all about trying to lick the dishes in the dishwasher as you're loading it. And all your hear from me is..."No!" "What did I just say?" "No! No! No!"
And since we might be in for a cold weekend I thought I'd leave you with a song that always makes me think warm, happy vacay thoughts....
Happy Pug Friday!

Current Obsession
I find this song amazing....and it is probably 50% of the reason I'm going to see Dear John. I read (actually listened to book on CD) driving between Illinois and Florida sometime the last couple of years. I loved the book and I bawled like a baby at the ending. Now that I think about the fact that Mr. Jetplane will be deploying within the next year or so, it means so much more.
Anyone else out there going to see Dear John? Do you think it will be as good as the book?

Totally Random Tuesday...
Disclaimer: This post is totally and absolutely random...you have been warned.
1. I made Stuffed Shells yesterday (while working..good thing about working from home). Here is a picture of the finished product.
Mr loves them, hopefully the young A1C's family I made them for love them too. She just had a baby that was 6 weeks earlier. The recipe can be found here. This time I did use Reduced Fat Chive and Onion Cream Cheese. I thought it tasted the same.
2. Work, while kicking my booty is going surprisingly well so far for the year. I'm 2 projects above my goal for January and I still have a couple of days to get my number higher.
3. We have found out if we stay in NC, Mr will most likely be deploying in September...yeah holy crap. I might actually be rooting for Idaho. He will then deploy in the Winter/Spring of 2011.
4. We have more new neighbors. The houses in our subdivision are filling up fast...yeah!! And these neighbors saw Charlie last night and weren't scared...good thing.
5. I'm rocking out to this, this morning... It just puts me in the best mood...

Soundtrack to my day
Well Happy Eve of Christmas Eve to all you lovely readers of mine..if I still have some, since I've been quite the crappy lil blogger lately.
I do apologize, the Jetplanes' lives have been a little crazy lately and my workload, well...my cup runneth over to the nth degree.
So what to blog about today on a day such a this...well music of course. I love music and have a pretty eclectic taste. But this song evens me out and I go into a very relaxed mode...hoping it will do the same to you.
I believe the 1st time I heard it was on 500 Days of Summer but I'm not sure. (FYI-Really liked that movie)
But then last night I heard it again on a Rhapsody commercial when the guy said "This reminds me of the song"...and it really did.
I love how music can change your mood, take you back in time, or just get your party started.
So for the lackluster posts lately, I promise I'll get better.
Enjoy this lil diddy for your morning jump start!!

Alittle something about Mrs. Jetplane
I unfortunately am not a fan of Christmas music. I do love classic, church Christmas music, but I can't stand all the rest of it. Sorry to disappoint you all. But I do have 2 favorites...
#1. All I Want for Christmas by the one and only Mariah
I love this song and it automatically makes me want to watch Love Actually.
#2 The Christmas Song by Alvin and the Chipmunks
This song reminds me of my Grandmother's house. We would like to listen to this on her huge record player/sound system. I also sing this song to get on Mr. Jetplane's nerves... hahaha

I GO BACK
Do you have songs that take you right back to a certain time in your life? I listen to these songs and go me right back to hanging out with my girls or a certain someone in college... Here's a little trip down Memory Lane with Mrs. Jetplane this morning...
Burn one Down - Ben Harper
My ex in college introduced me to him back in 1998. He was his favorite person in the entire world and had met him several times. He was borderline obsessed with the man. He is now my go to long-distance driving music and has phenomenal live shows.
Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer
I distinctly remember junior year of college the first time my (same) ex (Mr. Baseball) played this for me in his is apartment. He said it made him think of me. Yeah...that's all this girl needed. My ex also wrote poetry...yeah I know. He once referred to me in his poem as his girl with coffee and 2 creams complexion (I was tanorexic back in the day). I don't know why but that has always stuck with me.
One More Time - Daft Punk
Oh yeah... Mrs. Jetplane was hardcore lover of techno music. I would rock out with the best of them at my college's dance clubs.... no doubt. I still enjoy listening to it while working out... mr and I might be driving home from a night out...we might pop it in and shake our groove things on the way.....Oh who likes to party...we like to party!!!
Some of the music may have even been busted out at our wedding.... see here is proof!!
Glowsticks and all... I bought them at the Dollar Store. The best $3.00 I ever spent.
It got crazy up on the dance floor... and yes that's my maid of honor...don't worry... she's a Doctor.
Gravel - Ani Defranco
One of if not my favorite singer/performer is Ani Defranco. This song reminds me of my friend K and I rocking out to it in her green Cavalier and screaming out the words..."You may keep me from ever being happy but you're not going to stop me from having FUN!!!" No truer words were ever spoken..or so we thought.
If I had a million dollars - Barenaked Ladies
This song automatically takes me to living in the sorority house driving around campus, perhaps skipping class, in Lou's red Acura, sun roof open and singing our hearts out... you want to stare at us...go right ahead!!
To quote my sorority's song...
"These are the days you'll remember. Never before and never since, I promise, will the whole world be warm as this. And as you feel it, you'll know it's true that you are blessed and lucky. It's true that you are touched by something that will grow and bloom in you."
That song is a perfect way to explain my college experience.... oh how I miss you...

My REAL Man...
I'll admit before I met Mr. Jetplane I dated a lot of guys....ok dated might be a strong word, but you get the point. I dated a lot of different types of guys some were most definitely boys, one had a better shoe collection than I did, one had better hair than I did, some were assholes (pardon the bad language) and some were just toolboxes. But I am happy to report that Mr. Jetplane...to quote R. Zoe...shuts it down!!!
He's a guy's guy and he enjoys doing guy things...thank the Lord. He is all about building things, digging in the dirt, mowing the yard, lifting heavy objects, and killing bugs. You don't really know how great that is until they are gone for 6 months at training (or deployment) and realize that you are going to have to find a way to do it yourself (or pay someone or beg your big strong neighbor).
I realized this last night while I was watching Mr. Jetplane mow the backyard. I was being the good wife and reheating leftovers for our dinner in the kitchen. He's a good man and I probably don't tell him enough.
So to honor Mr. Jetplane (my HERO) today... and his day off before the B Course starts and I don't see him until 10pm every night during the week...
I love you Mr.

Pug Friday

Hello all you lovely readers.... Well its been rough week, not only in my own world but the whole as the world as a whole.
We lost some great people this week, Ed, Farrah, and Michael.
I loved MJ, no matter how crazy he appeared or actually was, his music always moved me. For most of, if not all, of my early years, I was heavily involved in dancing and performing. And I had plenty a dance routine to a MJ song or it incorporated some MJ moves. He was truly an amazing singer, song writer, and dancer.
In college my sorority's Greek Week Air Band Routine (which is a lip syncing/dance routine competition) we did are routine to all Michael Jackson, it was great and we placed 3rd I believe.
So today, eventhough to its Pug Friday... I felt it required me to share this day with someone else.

Making me SMILE today...
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
Back in action.... Mrs. Jetplane adores No Doubt. Back in the day, we're talking 1994-1995 here, Mrs. Jetplane was hardcore into ska, punk, reggae and a little bit of everything in between. I WANTED to be Gwen. In 9th or 10th grade, I had tickets to the No Doubt/Bush but unfortunately someone got grounded and had to give her ticket away... :( It scarred me for life...

Its Britney Bitch...
Here's a link to her new Video for If You Seek Amy. I'll admit I had heard the drama awhile ago and had listened to the song a lot but never picked up on the issue.
But I listened to it again this past weekend walking the dog and I hear it. Very crafty those Britney Spears song writers are...
Loves it....
