So sad to see you go...
My Christmas decorations that is....
Last night I started taking down all the decorations. Here are a few of my favorite things from his holiday season.
I love these mercury glass ornaments that I found at TJ Maxx.
I was so excited to find these at Hobby Lobby for 1/2 off.
I also filled at footed vase with Martha Stewart glitter ornaments. I really liked this, but I feel it needed to sit higher.
Finally, I have a new love of tree toppers. I bought a new one (big blue) at TJ Maxx when visiting Mr. Jetplane it was 70% off. Is it weird to want to keep them up all year? Maybe at least until Spring?
I also made low fat Beef Stroganoff last night. It was pretty good, no butter, reduced fat sour cream... I'll post a recipe later today.

Random Bamblings....
1. Its 70 and sunny on Christmas Eve, too bad the Mr. is laid up on the couch.
2. No more vomiting.... nice
3. I love HEB, never been to one. I bought awesome Spring Rolls from the sushi counter.
4. I love that in Texas you can buy 3 Liter bottles of soda.
5. Tonight for dinner I'm making the Mr. one of his favs - meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
6. I totally forgot to tell you all that I chopped my hair off on Friday.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas.

Happy Holidays <3 The Jetplanes

I wanted to use black envelopes, so I needed to lighten them up. I doubt our family and friends are receiving black Christmas cards from anyone else. They are different, but I adore them.

Once was Blind, but now I SEE...
Well, not really. I'm pretty much blind, but I did finally bite the bullet and bought new glasses. I blogged awhile ago about my desire for new glasses. I've had the exact frame of glasses for seriously 10 years. But not now, with the help of trusty optical insurance, my new Vera Wang glasses didn't cost me too much. Here they are, they are dark green and fade to a lighter green on the ends, don't think the pic is too good (sorry done with the web cam).

Sorry for the sad hair, today it rained all day in P'cola and my hair is kinda gross.
Also, I have finally finished the Christmas decorations for the house and I promised to show you some more. (again pics from web cam)

This is my $8.00 wreath from Big Lots. Its on my door to the back yard.
Here is the lovely mantle. I'm pretty happy with it. Check out my cute stockings for the Mr., Charlie, Me, and Milo. Yes I bought stockings for the dogs and yes the Mr. and Charlie aren't even going to be home this year for Christmas, I don't care.

I used my 9 ft pre-lit garland that I've had for several years now. I add $1 ornaments that I bought from Walmart, silver and blue glass balls from Hobby Lobby that were 1/2 off, and silver springs from Hobby Lobby (1/2 off as well). I bought 2 glass tree toppers from TJ Maxx 1 silver and 1 lime green, I adore them, I'm going to buy more when they go on sale at Target (I'm not paying $16 for them). Finally I added my glass apothecary jars from my wedding. I put glass ornaments in them. I also placed another one of the coffee table, and used a Martha Stewart place mat that I got for like $2.

This is my centerpiece for my kitchen table, I want a different table runner, but I'm not going to buy one right now. I'll just deal with it.
This is my table behind the table. I have my lovely polka dot Kate Spade Vase filled with ornaments, a cute silver reindeer, and my lovely blue candle holders. These generally sit on the mantle. As you can see my theme is most definitely silver, blue, and green. But I've added little pops of color here and there.
Last but not least, Milo is really excited about the decorations, can't you tell....

Can you keep a secret?

Well the Mr. can't. Maybe a point of clarification, he can't keep a secret from me. He tells me everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything. I don't ask and sometimes I really don't want to know.
The main point at issue for me here is with gifts. I like to open a gift, that is wrapped on the day I'm suppose to receive it - be that a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, etc. The Mr. can't wait to give me my gifts when he buys them. He actually likes to buy them while I am with him and give them to me there. Case in point, over Thanksgiving he bought me a Colts Jersey (L Kids size). That's one of my gifts, sorry if that's a weird gift to some of you. I love football - GO COLTS!
Another example - proposing to me. No he did not have an elaborate plan, he didn't wait long enough. He drove up to Illinois to supposedly visit his family. He actually drove up to meet my parents get the diamond and then go to his family and put it in a setting. A few days later he then drove back down to P'cola and got home around 10:00 pm or so. He had the ring in his pocket and wanted to give it to me right then, but held back. He gave it to me the next night when I got home from work.
So yesterday I get home from work and there is a box on the porch, its my Christmas present that he bought from Amazon. He told me to go ahead and open it. NO! Don't ruin my Christmas, its our first Christmas together as a married couple, I want to open it on Christmas. But I did shake it. Its either a new camera or a watch, maybe both.... it sounds like 2 things in the box.
He says that I can't hold back and not open the box. Well Mr., watch me.... But I may shake it a couple more times.

Friday=Pugs
Hello all... Its been quite a difficult week getting back into the groove of being back to work. But I'm making it, luckily I haven't been too busy. Even though I only have a 3 day work week, this week feels like its lasted forever. I think maybe not having my Sugar-Free Red Bull the past couple of mornings has made it even worse. (I desperately need to go grocery shopping)
TGIF most definitely!!!
Well, since its Friday and I've been decorating the house this week I felt it only right to give you a picture like this....

Okay - I've gotten a couple of questions and statements on my Pug Fridays and I wanted to address them.
1. Yes I do love me some pugs.
2. No, not all the pictures I show are of my pug, Milo.
3. No, I only have 1 pug :(.... Blame the Mr. for that, our 2nd dog Charlie was his choice.
Enjoy and Happy Friday.

A First Date I'd Rather Forget
Well here the post I was talking about yesterday....
I had moved to Indy and had been there a couple of months. I met this guy ( I don't remember his name) at a bar downtown with a friend of mine from work. He seemed nice enough, we hung out for a couple of hours, and I gave him my number. He lived in Louisville and was in Indy for a friends bachelor party. We talked on the phone a couple of times. He was coming up to Indy the weekend before Thanksgiving to visit his younger sister that went to Butler. So we planned a date. He was all excited about the date because he insisted it be a total surprise.
FYI - I'm not a big fan of surprises. I felt the need to tell him that a couple of times. I was warning him, more than anything.
So that Friday night, he comes to my apartment to pick me up. He gets to my place, and we decide that we're going to head over to the Cheesecake Factory and then off to my surprise. I'm thinking... so far so good....
It was cold out so he had left his car running. He opens the door for me and I'm overcome by first how freaking hot the inside of the vehicle was but also the horrid Christmas music that was blaring. Ok, what is a 27 year old man doing listening to Christmas music.
I'm begging him to tell me was this surprise is. He says "I got us tickets!"
"Tickets, what kind of tickets?" I say. "Are we going to a sporting event, the movies, a play?"
He says, "No not exactly..."
"Ok, well can you please turn off this music. I honestly can't stand Christmas music."
"Oh, really?", he says. "Who doesn't like Christmas music?"
"Me I guess."
We get to dinner and start to order. I'm still begging him to tell me what the surprise is.
"Well, I got us tickets to the Rockettes Christmas Special. Don't worry its going to be great!" he smiles.
I quickly shot up my hand... "glass of Pinot Grigo please".... (keep em coming.... I thought to myself)
So we headed to the Murat, a theater in downtown Indy. I was half drunk and sat through the whole ordeal, counting the minutes till its over. Granted I do love musicals and plays, but not a Xmas show, especially when it wasn't even Thanksgiving yet...
So needless to say, that relationship didn't go anywhere from there.
If you want to impress a girl like me, definitely don't take me to a Christmas Special.
But... the first 3 guys I dated in Indy all took me to Cheesecake Factory on our 1st dates... now that's a way to this girl's heart...

Its beginning to look ....

a lot like Christmas.... every where you go....
And I do love me some Christmas. I love shopping, decorating, eating, visiting with family, the snow (:( none in FL), etc, etc.
But I do have to come clean, there is one thing that I HATE about Christmas. Christmas music, I hate it, I loathe it, I down right can't stand it.
Now, I do like Christmas songs at church, or a little here and there, but I will not and cannot listen to them in car, I will not cannot listen to them in a bar (ha ha... Dr. Seussin' there)...
Sorry to all you lovers of the songs, they make my ears bleed. With the exception of a couple of songs that bring me straight back to my childhood and to my grandmother's house. (I loved the Pound Puppies Christmas Album and Alvin and the Chipmunks, but that even has its limitations.)
It probably comes from my mom, who plays Christmas music all the time. I think it may have had the opposite reaction for me.
I will post a hilarious story about a horrible first date I had when I had first moved to Indy. Believe it or not, it involves my hatred of Christmas music. To be Continued....
