So THIS happened this weekend

He's okay. He and Charlie got into a lil fight on Friday night. He has a small cut under his mouth which then oozes onto his legs which he then proceed to lick constantly and then would have a hacking cough. So needless to say we needed him to not touch...hence the poor lil guy was in a cone. He's out of it right now and very happy about that.
Just another weekend round here...

Pug Friday - Milo Update

Happy Pug Friday everyone... Since its Pug Friday I thought I would give you an update on my lil hunk of pug lovin. Isn't he just the cutest puggie you've ever seen? Well yes I might be a tad be biased, but hey what's a puggie mama to do right?

We have WONDERFUL news! The hard lump on his leg has reduced in size by probably 75% if not more. We received the pathology results on Wednesday night, its not a fungal infection which we thought it might be. It appears to be misshaped red blood cells, but we don't know exactly what caused them. I think it might be from his falling which he does on occasion rough housing with his big brother and jumping all other the place. I'm so happy, but we'll keep an eye on the leg. He's going to go in for a visit with the vet in a few weeks to see how its going, but it looks like we're in the clear.

Milo turned 8 earlier this month and this crazy pug mama gets worried about everything little thing. Thankfully even at 8, Milo is at an ideal weight and extremely active...pretty sure we have Charlie to thank for that one.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Scenes from this past weekend

Its Monday folks...yeah that's just about as awesome as it sounds.

I don't know about you but I had a great weekend, I was sad to see it go.

Friday we have a ladies night with the squadron wives group. We had a lovely light dinner at a local nursery where they also gave us a demo on container planting. They also happily answered loads of questions about gardening.

Saturday I headed up to Boise. A fellow wife and I hit up a free concert in town. We had the pleasure of enjoying the sounds of these 2. We had a great time, even though it was warm and there is about zero tree cover in the area. It was a free concert and people watching was more interesting than the music.

Oh, let me add that I caught this lil gem while we were looking for parking. I couldn't help myself.

Sunday afternoon it got HOT, we're talking supposedly 103. But the wonderful thing about the weather out here is that there is no humidity. I decided to bust out the $10 Walmart special kiddie pool for the back yard. I finished the Help and the dogs enjoyed taking a dip as well. I apologize for the paleness that is me. I swear this is the palest I've ever been in my whole life at this point of the summer...I guess that's what Idaho does to you.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

On a more important note...I took Milo to the vet on Friday. I discovered a hard lump on his leg. The vet did a needle biopsy. It is not a tumor, but we don't quite know what it is yet. It was sent onto a pathology and I hope to know more by Tuesday or Wednesday. Milo is in wonderful spirits and he doesn't seem to feel any pain or favor one leg over the other. But I'm praying hard for my lil hunk of puggie loving. He turned 8 this month. My little old man...

Well stick around this week. I hope to be a lot better blogger.

xoxo

Pug Friday - TGIF

TGIF - Ain't that the truth. This week has been difficult and I'm missing the Mr. real bad right about now. I'm proud to say that I have handled the deployment so far pretty well...that was up until this week. But we're getting through it, don't really have much of an option right?

So what did we learn this week....

1. Sugar Free is toxic to dogs.

2. A $1 pack of gum can cost you whole lot more.

3. I love my lil puggie more than ever.

4. I no longer chew gum...well at least not for a while.

5. Deployment still sucks.

Happy Pug Friday Everyone. I hope everyone has a lovely Easter.

Milo Update

HE'S HOME!!!

I got to pick him up last night. He is on meds and we'll get his levels checked tomorrow night. But we're looking good. His blood sugar got into the 100s yesterday afternoon after a 2nd IV. The lil guy appears to be back to normal around here.

Thank you all for your love and support. Dealing with this, especially while Mr. is deployed makes things suck on a whole new level.

p.s. they are both on preventive liver meds since we know they both ate the gum.

Yesterday was...a no good very bad day

Yesterday started like any other crazy, manic Monday. Unfortunately I was booked solid with work calls from 10am until 3pm so the dogs were chilling in the house on their own. I keep my door closed while I'm on the phone.

Generally they are pretty good, they sleep, look out the windows, and sleep some more. I got off a call and went into the family room to the let them out. They usually go outside from around 12:30 - 2:30 or so. I let them out around 1:30 due to my calls. Once they were out I saw something on the floor. It was what was left of a packet of Sugar Free Strawberry Orbit gum. The gum had been in my purse and someone (I assumed Milo) had jumped up on to couch and got in my purse. But to be honest I didn't really know which one had done it.

I didn't think too much of it and I mentioned it on Twitter. Thankfully later that day I received tweets from people warning me how dangerous Sugar Free gum is and that it contains Xylitol. Xylitol is toxic in dogs and can cause their livers to fail. I had absolutely no idea.

I called the vet, who at first didn't seem to concerned (she later admitted she hadn't seen much of this before). I brought both of them in. They both were made to throw up and got their levels checked. They had both ate some of the gum. Charlie's levels were fine but I had to feed him charcoal when we got home and he's on preventive liver meds.

Poor lil Milo is a different story. His blood sugar dropped from 82 to 65. He had to stay over night and be put on an IV. Vet called me around 9:30 last night, his numbers were back up to 82 and she was going to give him the liver meds around 11pm.

Needless to say I was and am still a total mess. Milo is almost 8 and has been with me through everything. I got him when I was living in Indy after college. He is my lil buddy and it breaks my heart that he is going thru this.

Mr. Jetplane called this morning around 3am before heading out on his mission. We talked yesterday afternoon and I told him about the gum before I knew we were in any danger. So when he received my 5 emails from yesterday and could tell I was really upset he called. He knew I wouldn't care if he woke up in the middle of the night.

I'm hopeful we caught it all in time and this episode will have a happy, albeit expensive ending.

Thank you to the wonderful world of Twitter and my fellow pug lovers out there who made me take action yesterday.

Love you all more than you'll ever know.

I've become the WORST type of blogger

The kind that doesn't blog :(

Its upsetting to me, but its become a fact of life at this point. I have a ton to write about but unfortunately zero motivation to do it. I'm sure ever blogger goes through a similar rut. I feel like my rut is life induced. I have a feeling this blog will once again become a refuge for me like it was went I first started.

Right after Mr. Jetplane and I got married we lived apart for almost six months while he attended T-38 school and EWO training. I stayed in Pcola during his stays in MS and TX to continue to work.

I have a strong feeling you'll be seeing me more often in the coming months as we head into the deployment.

So I know its Pug Friday and I have been a very bad blogger so I leave you with a picture of my most favorite puggie....Milo and his (big) lil brother Charlie, my 2 loving companions while Mr. is gone.

Picture was taken before we left Pcola and before I traded in my sweet Jeep Liberty. I loved that ride.

Hey there...

Its me...Mrs. Jetplane. Remember me? I have a blog!

Yeah I forgot too....nah not really, but I've been crazy crazy busy and this blog has taken a back seat to everything, and as it should I suppose. Lots of things have been going on in our lives for the past month.

We've been working on the house and I hope to post some pictures soon.

We attended Octoberfest in Boise this past weekend. It was fun even though totally overpriced..yeah I said it.

But we had a good time...we both like us some beer :)

Unfortunately this week on the dog front has been crazy. The dogs some how got out of the back yard. Luckily for our nosy neighbor, he alerted me to the issue and I proceeded to run down our busy street in the rain shoeless to get our 2 damn dogs back home. Honestly I think they were scared, their faces light up when they heard me call them.

Then on Wednesday we had a bigger issue. Milo and Charlie got into a fight. They get into from time to time, Milo can hold his own surprisingly and has never thought of himself as a small dog. Needless to say, they got into big fight Wednesday morning after they ate breakfast. Milo got bit and needed stitches. Poor little guy :(

He's doing ok now..thankfully.

Sorry I've been MIA lately, hopefully I'll be a better blogger soon...

Happy Pug Friday!

Pug Friday - my most favorite puggie

Happy Pug Friday! I've had a very busy week and was unavailable to get everything together to feature another pug rescue and do it the justice it deserves.

So instead I bring you my most favorite puggie in the whole wide world....my own puggie, Milo. Yes I know what you are all thinking...yes Dan and Gorgina did steal my pug's name to name their baby... no worries I ain't a hater :)

Happy Pug Friday!!

Into the great wide open...

Today is the last work day before the move. The packers/movers were suppose to be here today...Haha...but that appears to not be happening until tomorrow...gotta love Military moves.

So I'll be hitting the road mid day tomorrow to head to Illinois and Mr. will get on the road when the movers finish packing up the truck. Its not ideal, nor what we want, but its the best solution. We'll be staying in Illinois for a few days, so he'll meet me at my parents house.

I remind myself over and over again that very soon I'll be calling this place home...

I'll be able to see the mountains every day...to me that's alittle surreal. I'm a Midwest girl, it took me a while to get used to seeing the water everyday when we lived in Pcola.

See you all on the flipside...I hope to be able to blog alittle over the next 2 weeks, but no promises.

XOXO

Pug Friday - Couch Potato Edition

Well hello there... Sorry I haven't posted Pug Friday recently, it makes me sad because to be completely honest, its probably my favorite post of the week. As it is totally apparent, I love me some puggies... But this week's is going to be a lil different.

Over the years, Milo has become my television watching buddy. And when I say he watches television, I am not joking, he gets into it. If there is something dramatic going on, he sometimes starts growling and if a chase scene comes on, he's been known to run barking to tv. So I often leave the tv in the living on for the dogs during the day while I am in the office, Milo enjoy watching the Today show (especially Hoda and Kathy Lee) and later in the day HGTV.

With Mr. Jetplane gone until the weekend I have been working at cleaning out my DVR. 'We' were watching RHONJ, obviously one of Milo's favorites...since those bitches be crazy....

As you can see - he is totally watching, he sits there intently the entire time, even through commercials. He has been known to get pissed and go to the other side of the room if you are talking too much or block his view...yeah he's quite a lil diva.

But last night, I was watching and twittering about the most intense Greys I think I have ever seen, he definitely wasn't interested at all... He slept through the whole thing.
By the way, those pillows aren't his. Since this is the 'man cave' of our house and we have ONLY reclining furniture, I like to lay on the floor and watch tv sometimes. He thinks those floor pillows make a great bed...good thing I only pay $5 a piece for those...

Happy Pug Friday Everyone!!

OH Baby!

Spring has sprung and baby fever is in the air...

The Jetplanes have been discussing babies alot lately. But with Mr. knee deep in flight school and a potential deployment occurring in December (yeah that's right, I said December), right now its not in the cards.

Earlier this week Mr. asked me the following question that was sort of off putting, "Why do you want to have a baby?"

Why do I want to have a baby....hmm...

I want to start a family with this man that I love more than anything in this world.
I want to have a baby because I turn 30 in June and I have totally irrational fears that I won't be able to have a baby.
I want to bring something into this world that is a combination of the two of us and our love.

And DAMN IT I just want one... but I'm scared to death, I'll admit it. SCARED TO DEATH about having a child. Scared about how I would handle the load of a child with everything else in my life....especially with future deployments that lie ahead.

Sometimes my crazy mind drifts into the nightmares of seeing myself at home trying to work full time like I do now, with 2 kids, 2 dogs, housework, cooking, etc. all by myself when my husband is deployed...and that causes me some serious heart palpitations.

I know plenty of women do it, heck I may work part time or none at all, who knows, but the fear of that unknown shakes me to my core sometimes...

I know I'm not the only one out there. And I know there are plenty of women, mil wife and non-mil wife, that juggle and struggle through the day to day of having kids, work, home life, heck even a social life...I know I'm going to be looking to them as my role models.

Pug Friday

Here's my own lil hunk of puggie lovin Milo. Milo has had a rough week or so. Turns out he was bit by some kind of spider last week and let me tell you it was gross.

He's been on his meds for a week tomorrow, and he's feeling good.

This picture is when we're on our way to the vet. He hates the vet, but loves the car ride.

Happy Pug Friday everyone!!!

Seriously People...he's a pug

So we had noticed before Christmas that the For Sale sign on the house next door had been removed. Then during the time between Christmas and New Year we saw a car parked there, but NEVER saw people. Well yesterday all that changed when we noticed a young couple and their child moving in.

Mr. Jetplane was in the front yard playing catch with both of the dogs and when he saw them, he decided to put Charlie up (since well he's a big ass dog, and some people are scared of him) and I see Milo take off next door to say hi. He runs up on the porch and is greeted with full on screams of terror...by all 3 of them...

The little boy (and I mean probably atleast 6 yrs old) screams at the top of his lungs and is bawling hysterically. I run over and grab Milo assure them that he's not dangerous, he won't bite, and he just wanted to meet you all. He's very friendly and really just wanted to play with you.

The mother said.."I thought he wanted to run into our house.."

To that I replied, "Well to be completely honest, he probably did want to. He doesn't know a stranger and would be happy to run in and sit on the couch with you and watch tv. He did do that to our old neighbors before."

So Mr. Jetplane ran over once he heard the screams, we introduced ourselves, re-assured them about 50x Milo was safe, and I waited till they could bring the boy out of hiding from the house so he could meet Milo.

We walked back to our house and Mr. Jetplane said, "Can't believe that lil boy was scared of Milo." I said, "Oh no honey... ALL 3 we're freaking scared to DEATH of Milo. Just wait to they see Charlie!"

Now I understand that a lot of people confuse Milo's breathing for growling so they are concerned, but seriously people, when you scream and jump at a dog, they either get excited or nervous which makes the situation even worse. Its pretty obvious these people have never had a dog or been around dogs before...ugh...

Welcome to the neighborhood!!!

Pug Friday - Snow Pug Edition

Happy Pug Friday Everyone.... Sorry I've been MIA on Pug Friday for a couple of weeks, with the holidays, things got a little hectic.

So in honor of the frigid weather and snow that most of the country is feeling...I give you today's Pug Friday.

Isn't that adorable...Milo would NEVER let me put shoes on him...NEVER!!

When the cat's away...

So Mr. Jetplane left early yesterday morning for Illinois. He hasn't been home since last year. I unfortunately couldn't go with him for the week because my recent 2 weeks off to be with my mother.
So needless to say I miss him... I miss him for all the standard reasons...its lonely in bed at night, I like someone there that can reach top shelf of cabinets, someone to unload the dishwasher, take out the trash, pick up the dog poop in the yard...you know the usual.

But its always nice to get a little alone time, don't you agree?? That's when your Secret Single Behavior comes out...

What's mine... well some of it is not all that exciting

1. I make all the food that Mr. Jetplane hates like Tuna Casserole (which I LOVE)

2. I will watch endless hours of Bravo and MTV and lay on the couch...ALOT

3. I will eat junk food...Mr. Jetplane prefers we don't have junk in the house

4. I will sleep on Mr. Jetplane's side of the bed

5. I will let Milo sleep with me in the bed (like the good ol days)

6. I may even let Charlie lay on the bed

7. I will go shopping and buy home decor items that Mr Jetplane thinks we don't need and will tell him we already had those.

8. I will go shopping and purchase wallpaper for the master bathroom and then talk him into putting it up when he gets back.

9. I will take long baths and blare music throughout the house. 10. I will drink copious amounts of champagne...out of red wine glasses.

11. I will work on crafting projects that Mr thinks are crazy (that's until he sees them all done).
What do you plan on doing when your significant other is MIA for a few days...

All our PRETTY presents under the tree..

Well not exactly! Since the Jetplanes are staying home in NC this year, we'll be away from all our family...:( But that means the UPS man (and postwoman) and I are getting acquainted again..oh how I have missed him..and he me I'm sure.

So these are some of the presents that we have receive thus far...Yes I know that is a box with an office chair, its for Mr. Jetplane from my parents. He has a horrible one upstairs in his man cave. I won't let him open any of them, even the ones from his mother, which he picked out.

I'm pretty sure one or more of the boxes have doggie treats in them the way Milo was interested in them...

Can't believe Christmas is Friday!! I wish we had our gas hooked up so we could have a fire in the fireplace on Christmas Eve...Yeah for our 1st Christmas in our first home... Last year Mr. Jetplane had knee surgery in Texas on 12/23 and I spent the next week taking care of him...this Christmas will be much better.

I know this is a recycled picture, but its one of my favorites... miss my lil monkey...

Pug Friday - Home Sweet Home Edition

Happy Pug Friday to you all... I hope this Friday morning is treating everyone well, especially all you Twi-Hards that stayed up late last night (this morning) to watch New Moon.
I'll admit even though I enjoy being well rested, I am alittle jealous. The Jetplanes are going to a 9pm viewing tonight!! (FYI- I got Mr to read all of the books. He was at T38 training at the time, so he was a little bored. Its good because we can talk about everything, even though he didn't 'love' the books). I'll be totally honest though, New Moon was my LEAST favorite, I actually had to force myself to read it. Bella whined WAY TOO MUCH. But I need to see the movie either way.

Anyway...moving on....

Today's Pug Friday is dedicated to my own lil hunk of pug Milo. You see, I'm leaving (on a jet plane) tomorrow morning to be with my family. My mother is having her reconstructive surgery on Monday and will be in the hospital the entire week of Thanksgiving. The following week I will be staying at my parents' house, helping her recover. Unfortunately, Mr. Jetplane has class and can't take leave. So he'll stay with the boys...and I miss them greatly!!!

So here's to my lil hunk of loving Milo...I'll miss my cuddle buddy...
And here are the boys playing with their dad.

Unfortunately they both like to lay on the couch with me... Here we are enjoying the Vampire Diaries. And here's lil Milo playing video games with Dad. Happy Pug Friday!

Dogs - 1 Mrs. Jetplane - 0

(Front Porch prior to yesterday) Scene: Wednesday afternoon around 4:45pm

It is cold and raining, the dogs needed to go outside and I heard my office phone ringing. I was expecting a phone call, it should only last 15 minutes. The dogs will end up going onto the backporch to get out of the rain. Plus they have some internal clock which tells them to start flipping out around 5pm because they know its time to eat.
I'm on the phone and I hear Charlie barking from the right side of the house. Nothing unusual, we have the houses to our left and our right for sale. People are constantly looking at them, workers inspecting things on the properties, etc. Yes, I'm sure our huge, white dog is a great selling feature...no matter... I hear his barking and just assume someone is next door. I continue with my call and its finished around 5:05 and I head to the kitchen. Charlie is at the back door and eager to get in the house. He is barking...no worries...he's just hungry. I get their food from the garage and open the door to the back deck. Charlie runs in and wants to eat..nothing new. I yell for Milo...he's not coming in... I yell "Time to Eat Dinner!" (FYI - He runs for the words Dinner, Food, and Treat no joke). Nothing. So I put my slippers on and go out to the porch and see the side gate is OPEN.

Mama Bear goes into a panic...its pouring down rain..I run to the front of the house...nothing...and I'm screaming... MILO! MILO! MILO! nothing. I run into the house, put on a coat, grab an umbrella, and throw Charlie's food into his bowl. I think to myself...do I get in the car? (Thoughts of the squeaky toy dog commercial are running through my head)

Then I look 3 houses down and through the rain I see a lil dog peeing on every in a yard...that's my Milo. I scream at him and he turns around like...What? Are you talking to me?

Yes I am you lil shit! I most certainly am talking to you. He then proceeds to go into the yard of the house for sale directly to our right and run up on the porch...during this time I see an older gentleman at the house standing in the driveway...he's been watching this whole episode for the past 5 minutes...did it NEVER OCCUR TO HIM that a lady who is screaming in her front yard with an umbrella and wearing slippers...might be looking for a little dog that is wandering around the neighborhood? Evidently not!

I pick up the lil pain in the ass and walk us back to our house. Letting him know what I think about him the whole way. Then I see something in the front yard that resembles a bird...but not really. Then I look up onto the porch and see a crow missing from my porch... I know Milo didn't do this...

Looks like the 2 of them had quite a party in the front yard while mama was on the phone... They both got put in timeout for awhile after this latest adventure...
Here is what's left of the crow...

FYI-Mr. Jetplane left the gate open... he has been punished and will be buying me a new crow from Michael's.

Lord help me when we have children...
