So THIS happened this weekend

He's okay. He and Charlie got into a lil fight on Friday night. He has a small cut under his mouth which then oozes onto his legs which he then proceed to lick constantly and then would have a hacking cough. So needless to say we needed him to not touch...hence the poor lil guy was in a cone. He's out of it right now and very happy about that.
Just another weekend round here...

Long Weekends are NEVER Long Enough

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We sure did :)
Mr. Jetplane may have gotten this emailed to him this weekend. These 2 like to send him pictures of themselves all the time. They have quite a lot to say to their daddy. They miss him alot.

I can't believe its July, it felt like it was just Memorial Day weekend. Time is flying by, thankfully. But I do kinda feel like I wishing this summer away. With the husband deployed and not coming for a while, I just want to get the summer over it. Yes, I know it kinda makes me sad too, because I really love the summer time. But the truth of the matter is, the summer just isn't as much fun without Mr. Jetplane.

I went to a great lil BBQ yesterday held by a family in our sister squadron out here. I had a great time, but it made me miss my honey. I happy to see guys getting to enjoy time with their wives and kids, but it makes me soooo jealous. Luckily he did call while I was there. Poor guy sounded exhausted. I miss him terribly, but we're getting thru it.

Don't forget to keep entering my giveaway....the winner is selected on Thursday :)

Need a Vacation from my Vacation

The Jetplanes headed back to Illinois on Thursday afternoon and got back on Monday afternoon. Let me tell you, while the trip was great...it went by way too fast and I am totally exhausted from it.

Sadly we had to put our 2 furbabies in the kennel, and let me tell you they are still tired lil boys, and probably still a lil pissed off at us. I hate putting them in a kennel, Milo hasn't been boarded in almost 4 years and last time Charlie was boarded he cried and didn't want to eat....yeah needless to say we were worried.

Thankfully, it looks like all went well, except the kennel owner kept calling Milo by the wrong name....he kept calling him Otis. Yeah...I know. But enough of me being the crazy dog mama that I am.

The trip was jammed packed with family, friends, and tons o' fun. I got to see my mama, Mr's grandma, our newest nephew, my grandpa, and tons of friends. We got to attend a fabulous wedding at a gorgeous venue, drank too much champagne and danced our booties off.

I seriously love attending weddings, especially those of my friends. I miss my friends so very much and its wonderful to get to see them at these important events. I love breaking it down on the dance floor with my friends and feel like we're taken right back to senior year of college...perhaps... dropping it like its hot on the dance floor.

You want to know what song takes me straight back to college days partying it up at the college parties, afterhours, beer breakfasts, etc....

Within the next year, all of my best girlfriends will be married ladies. Its so amazing to see us all growing and becoming wives and mothers. I love meeting and developing relationships with their husbands and babies.

Sadly my camera was D-E-A-D at the wedding...but I do have 1 picture. Thanks to my cell phone which was ALMOST dead.

Hope to steal some from others off of Facebook.

Side note - I was in desperate need of an eyebrow waxing so I got mine did at a Mastercuts near Mr's brother's house and he decided he'd get a haircut. Poor guy the woman brutalized his hair...he is still livid. Just because he's in the military people doesn't mean he gets a buzzcut...poor guy :(

Bit of This & Bit of That

This post is going to be all over the place, so apologies all around...

1. Ummmm, how freaking good was Mad Men on Sunday? I'm so happy its back. I adore how Peggy has come into her own, Joan has her own office, and Betty is dealing with a b!tch of a MIL. (didn't have that with Don since he had no family) Even though Don is now dealing with the consequences of his actions, you still like him, you still want him to come out on the other side...which I totally believe he will. Don Draper is a Big F'in Deal people.

2. Now True Blood - Its picking and choosing parts of the books it wants to follow. I believe in Alan Ball and all but seriously - why wouldn't Bill heal after being cut? I hate Cooter, but love how trashy Debbie Pelt is. Talbot is wonderful and Franklin is a total freakshow. And this dog fighting ring....YAWN. Ummm hello - only 1st born can be a WERE, duh! And let's get to saving Pam, she's awesome!

3. The state of our current house - CRAZY. We're walking on backer board over here... We ripped up all the flooring ourselves in the living room, hallway, kitchen, entry way, family room and stairs to the loft. Yummy dark hardwood is going in its place. Tearing it up ourselves saved us almost $1,000. We are planning on putting down the plywood ourselves too, which saves another $1,000+. I'm excited for the new floors, but not excited for the bill or having to work through all the noise its going to cause when they install.

4. My garden is growing and I have harvested several summer squash, 1 spaghetti squash, and 1 tomato.

5. We saw Inception at IMAX the weekend it came out. Amaze-balls. Seriously.

6. I have learned that there are more VW bugs in Idaho then anywhere I have ever been. Mr and I are constantly hitting each other "Slugbug no slug backs".

We went on a walk around the hood yesterday evening - 4 of them. How is that even possible?
By the way - we ONLY do it for VW Bugs.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Pug Friday

Happy Pug Friday everyone....

Everyone excited for the weekend? It appears we might have a chilly, icy, and perhaps snowy weekend ahead of us. I hope we get some snow tomorrow. I haven't seen snow in years.
This week's Pug Friday photo reminds me our our dogs. They are all about trying to lick the dishes in the dishwasher as you're loading it. And all your hear from me is..."No!" "What did I just say?" "No! No! No!"

Image found here

And since we might be in for a cold weekend I thought I'd leave you with a song that always makes me think warm, happy vacay thoughts....

Happy Pug Friday!

When the cat's away...

So Mr. Jetplane left early yesterday morning for Illinois. He hasn't been home since last year. I unfortunately couldn't go with him for the week because my recent 2 weeks off to be with my mother.
So needless to say I miss him... I miss him for all the standard reasons...its lonely in bed at night, I like someone there that can reach top shelf of cabinets, someone to unload the dishwasher, take out the trash, pick up the dog poop in the yard...you know the usual.

But its always nice to get a little alone time, don't you agree?? That's when your Secret Single Behavior comes out...

What's mine... well some of it is not all that exciting

1. I make all the food that Mr. Jetplane hates like Tuna Casserole (which I LOVE)

2. I will watch endless hours of Bravo and MTV and lay on the couch...ALOT

3. I will eat junk food...Mr. Jetplane prefers we don't have junk in the house

4. I will sleep on Mr. Jetplane's side of the bed

5. I will let Milo sleep with me in the bed (like the good ol days)

6. I may even let Charlie lay on the bed

7. I will go shopping and buy home decor items that Mr Jetplane thinks we don't need and will tell him we already had those.

8. I will go shopping and purchase wallpaper for the master bathroom and then talk him into putting it up when he gets back.

9. I will take long baths and blare music throughout the house. 10. I will drink copious amounts of champagne...out of red wine glasses.

11. I will work on crafting projects that Mr thinks are crazy (that's until he sees them all done).
What do you plan on doing when your significant other is MIA for a few days...

Its the Monday before Christmas & all through the house...

Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.... HAHAHAHA

The mouse is back y'all...and its fat as hell. Someone may have had an encounter with it this weekend. I screamed and yelled, attempted to beat it with a broom, and scared the crap out of my dogs...

I was yelling at the dogs..."Its a mouse...Its a mouse damn it... get it!"

They looked at mama like she had lost her damn mind, swinging a broom, and jumping around and in and out of the pantry like a crazy person.

I don't get it...these dogs will chase bugs, birds, whatever...where are animal instincts when you need them...

Well you can find there lazy butts on the couch...that is when dad's not home!!!

For those of you keeping score - Mrs. Jetplane 0 Mouse 2.

To be completely honest, I think this is a new mouse, we were mouse free for 2 months or so. We live out in the country and its not uncommon for mice around here we've been told. I cleaned out pantry and didn't find any holes where he could be coming in. I think he might be coming in from the laundry room, but still haven't figured out where...

Random Weekend Ramblings

1. Friday we attended a Brief at the Squadron to discuss what will be our lives after Mr. Jetplane completes flight school. We can stay here, go to England, or go to Idaho. We learned pro's and con's to all of the bases - QOL (Quality of Life), Geography, Flying, Deployment cycle, etc. Mr. Jetplane will get to rank his choices - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. His grades and the needs of the AF will make the decision. We'll know next spring where we are off to and then we'll decide if we're ready to start trying to have a baby or not.

2. Here are some samples of paint colors we've selected for the kitchen. I have paint swatches on a couple spots in the kitchen. I'll post one next to the kitchen cabinets later this week. I prefer the middle. The colors are Limeade, California Roll, and Green Apple.

3. This weekend we took the dogs to the vet to get their shots, got lost in the middle of nowhere because my GPS doesn't even know where we are when we're at our house (since we live in BFE)...just to find out that Mr. (my navigator in life and in the jet) took us the most round about way. We showed up 20 minutes late...FYI its only 7 miles away from the house.

4. We went and saw Couples Retreat on Saturday. It was funny...it wasn't OMG I'm going to throw up because I can't stop laughing funny...but it was funny. Now that we're married you start to think about things differently so the movie touched a cord with us. And we'll always go to Applebee's together... (topic from movie)

5. Out to the movie I sported my new Warriors In Pink scarf I blogged about early this month. *I might be giving one away on this lil blog later this week*6. The Jetplanes took their first time to Sam's Club together this weekend. We bought Gatorade, Garlic Bread, Lunch Meat, Hand Soap, Protein Drinks (Mr.), Granola Bars, Fruit, etc. On the way home Mr Jetplane turns to me and asks... "What happened to us?" Ha ha.

7. Sunday I had to return things to Target and TJMaxx. FYI- my TJMaxx isn't a Home Goods...yes please feel sorry for me. I stopped at JCP for their Friends and Family Sale. I haven't shopped inside a JCP in years. I did my office desk online, but that doesn't count. I have been looking for blue/navy pillows for our living room. JCP was having buy 1 pillow for full price and get the other for 88 cents. Plus I had 20% off coupon. The striped pillow is normally $40 and the navy velvet pillow $25. I got them both for under $30. Success!! 8. The parental units are coming tomorrow. I have to pick them up from the Raleigh airport tomorrow evening...

Happy Monday. I have a busy day in the office today thru Wednesday, I'm taking Thursday and Friday off to spend with the parents. Have a great week.

Dogs - 1 Mrs. Jetplane - 0

(Front Porch prior to yesterday) Scene: Wednesday afternoon around 4:45pm

It is cold and raining, the dogs needed to go outside and I heard my office phone ringing. I was expecting a phone call, it should only last 15 minutes. The dogs will end up going onto the backporch to get out of the rain. Plus they have some internal clock which tells them to start flipping out around 5pm because they know its time to eat.
I'm on the phone and I hear Charlie barking from the right side of the house. Nothing unusual, we have the houses to our left and our right for sale. People are constantly looking at them, workers inspecting things on the properties, etc. Yes, I'm sure our huge, white dog is a great selling feature...no matter... I hear his barking and just assume someone is next door. I continue with my call and its finished around 5:05 and I head to the kitchen. Charlie is at the back door and eager to get in the house. He is barking...no worries...he's just hungry. I get their food from the garage and open the door to the back deck. Charlie runs in and wants to eat..nothing new. I yell for Milo...he's not coming in... I yell "Time to Eat Dinner!" (FYI - He runs for the words Dinner, Food, and Treat no joke). Nothing. So I put my slippers on and go out to the porch and see the side gate is OPEN.

Mama Bear goes into a panic...its pouring down rain..I run to the front of the house...nothing...and I'm screaming... MILO! MILO! MILO! nothing. I run into the house, put on a coat, grab an umbrella, and throw Charlie's food into his bowl. I think to myself...do I get in the car? (Thoughts of the squeaky toy dog commercial are running through my head)

Then I look 3 houses down and through the rain I see a lil dog peeing on every in a yard...that's my Milo. I scream at him and he turns around like...What? Are you talking to me?

Yes I am you lil shit! I most certainly am talking to you. He then proceeds to go into the yard of the house for sale directly to our right and run up on the porch...during this time I see an older gentleman at the house standing in the driveway...he's been watching this whole episode for the past 5 minutes...did it NEVER OCCUR TO HIM that a lady who is screaming in her front yard with an umbrella and wearing slippers...might be looking for a little dog that is wandering around the neighborhood? Evidently not!

I pick up the lil pain in the ass and walk us back to our house. Letting him know what I think about him the whole way. Then I see something in the front yard that resembles a bird...but not really. Then I look up onto the porch and see a crow missing from my porch... I know Milo didn't do this...

Looks like the 2 of them had quite a party in the front yard while mama was on the phone... They both got put in timeout for awhile after this latest adventure...
Here is what's left of the crow...

FYI-Mr. Jetplane left the gate open... he has been punished and will be buying me a new crow from Michael's.

Lord help me when we have children...

Hopefully he didn't bring any friends....

We have a mouse in our house. I thought I saw him early Saturday morning while I was sitting in the living room. I saw something, a small dark shadow out of the corner of my eye, scurry across the kitchen floor. I told Mr. Jetplane, who was still asleep, and he didn't believe me.

So the entire day and night goes on without incident. I am sitting in the living room, cozy and comfy, in my leather chair playing on the computer and watching Inside the NFL and I a see a lil mouse run in front of the fireplace and into the closet. My ever close watch dogs (Milo & Charlie) are passed out on the couch, snoring, and not paying attention at all.

I run upstairs to tell Mr. Jetplane...we have a mouse... I knew I wasn't making this up. He then asks me what do I want him to do about it.... Catch the damn thing!

We tried and were unsuccessful. (I may have been standing onto of the coffee table) The dogs are deathly afraid of the broom for some reason so they were not a help at all. They ran into the bedroom and hid. The mouse is still in this house and looks like I'm going to be buying some traps today.

I haven't had a mouse in my house since I lived with my parents in the country...and then we had a cat... I guess I have found the one bad thing about living in BFE surrounded by tobacco, wheat, cotton, and corn fields...

On The Move... Again

Such is the life of a mil wife... on the move, making adjustments, and just plain sucking it up and dealing with whatever life (aka military) throws your way.

Lesson #1
Learn to Deal

Sure you can bitch and moan, get really pissed, yell at your husband, etc. etc. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter, you nor he can change it.. 2 sayings that are very common in our household... "It is what it is" and "The needs of the military supersede your own needs"

No truer statements in my book. But it isn't all bad... I might bitch about it, but its doable and it is what you make of it...

Well with all that being said, WE'RE MOVING ON TUESDAY! We close on our house a week from today. And this girl could not move without sending out a moving announcement and the moving announcement has to have a picture of our children (aka our dogs).

The announcements are going in the mail tonight... So for those of you that will be getting one... this is a taste of what's come. Don't spill the beans to anyone else.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent...i.e. ME.

(Milo is gonna drive, Charlie is gonna hold the map...cross your fingers we get there!)

Thank you to Nina for all help and special thanks to Mrs. Newlywed for helping me be creative and witty, when it felt very hard to come by.

Nina is very easy to work with and does a fabulous job, so if you're in the market for a holiday card, moving announcement, etc... check her out.

Pug Friday - Vintage Milo 2

Happy Friday Y'all (yes I may have been in the south long...)

Toddy is an exciting day, I'm leaving work early and the Jetplanes are heading to Biloxi to begin the celebration of their one year wedding anniversary. I'm so excited to just enjoy and uninterrupted fun for a couple of days.

But we will miss our boys, we have a friend staying at our house weekend so the boys are happy.
But today is Friday and Friday around these parts is always Pug Friday. And since I have located some oldie, but goodies, of my lil muchacho Milo I had to share them with you .
Look at that lil face, is it not the cutest thing ever. And finally, he is my favorite picture of Milo EVER. I know some of you have seen this picture posted before, but I just had to do it.
This is from the first time I took him to my parents house. He loved sitting in our family dog's (Honey - Yellow Lab) dog bowl. I have no idea why, but its the cutest thing in the world to me.
Happy Friday.

All Dogs Go To Heaven

I saw this today on Made by Girl and I knew immediately that I needed to support this organization by purchasing the book.

I am reposting a portion of her post here...

Audrey & Eldad Hagar never imagined that when they began photographing the hundreds of fostered dogs (and other creatures) who came through their home, that they would actually create a book. They just wanted to remember the animals they had shared great memories with.

Below is their short story about a little dog named Bradley...

"We rescued Bradley from the shelter last night, and today I took him to a neurologist. The doctor had only sad news for Bradley...We agreed he should go to sleep and not suffer this severe hydrocephalus. (as you can see, his head is weirdly shaped due to a lot of fluids in his head / brain).

I didn't want to let him go yet, so from the vet I took Bradley to the beach, I sat with him, played with him, and I fed him many cheeseburgers and fried chicken.

We sat there for two hours, and after that I took him to the vet's office right on the beach, and he went to sleep forever :-(It was such a sad day... I cried like a baby for this little guy.

Even now when I am typing these words, tears are coming to my eyes..." (The end)

Please visit their website and if you can purchase the book for only $9.95.

The weekend that was...

The Jetplanes had a great weekend but unfortunately it started on a rather sad note.

Friday afternoon we attended a memorial service for the 29 yr old wife of one of Mr. Jetplane's former instructors in his training wing. Mr. Jetplane and said instructor have been working together closely since he came back from Texas. Mr.'s stash job is sort of the IT guy for the training wing, and the two of them are to keep all the computers up and running.

It was a beautiful and heartbreaking service. I had never met this young woman but I felt the pain and grief that was radiating from everyone. Her friends had beautiful things to say about their friend, a young mother with 2 small boys. And two of her friends even held it together to sing two very moving songs. Her husband stood before the large gathering of military officers dressed in the uniforms of their branches, be that Navy, Marines, and Air Force and spoke from his heart about his wife and his gratitude for all his family and friends.

You see, the Jetplanes are stationed on a Navy base, so there isn't a large population of USAF on the base, but I'm pretty sure all of them affiliated with the flight program showed up. But to make it even better, the NC base (where most of the people who finished are located and where we will be soon enough) brought two planes over filled with the instructor's past students. It was such a wonderful gesture.

I cried like a baby, I always do. I felt for this young family and made me think about our young family how we need to appreciate everything we have.

After the service we met up with Mr.'s friends in town for the wedding... I'll do a post about this hopefully later tonight.

P.S. Thank you all for the lovely comments on our family photo shoot. I ordered the pictures and hopefully they will be soon so I can get them in the mail to our mamas.... They may get an IOU card for Mother's Day.

P.S.S. We have decided how to celebrate our 1 yr anniversary and Mrs. Jetplane will be blogging somewhere else as well... news to come...

XOXO

As promised... Charlie Loving...

As promised Charlie Jetplane gets his own post. Charlie is an American Bulldog and is almost 2 years old. Mr. Jetplane asked me if we could get him less than a week after he proposed.
I never wanted a big dog, but how can a girl say no after she's been proposed to...Charlie is about 100lbs and is pretty sure that he is a lap dog. He is convinced that he and Milo are the same size.

Charlie loves his daddy, Mr. Jetplane, more than anything in the whole world. And nothing makes him happier than playing with his dad.

He is quite a handful but I have grown to love that big ol goofy dog.

Hope this post could brighten your weekend alittle bit.... Hope you all have enjoyed the Jetplanes family photo shoot pics. Once again, they are all from Oeil Photography.

Jetplane Loving Round 1

We're gonna have to break this into a couple parts because, #1 I'm totally lazy, #2 blogger takes FOREVER, #3 I'm already bored... sorry I guess I should get a point for honesty.

These lovely photos were taken by Michelle at Oeil Photography

We have been lucky enough to work with her on our engagement pics as well as my boudoir pics. She is a fellow mil wife and currently stationed in Jacksonville, FL. She travels back and forth to Pcola for shoots, so if you're in the Pcola and/or Jacksonville area, check her out, you won't be disappointed. She will travel for weddings.

This first section of pictures are mainly of the Jetplanes. Mr. Jetplane thinks we have enough pictures of yourselves, I think we can NEVER have too many pictures of us.

All the pics were taken on NAS Pcola. Since we are getting ready to move to NC later this summer, I wanted to pics taken here.

Yes, we had a family shoot with our doggies, Milo and Charlie. We don't have any real kids yet, and these lil (or big) guys mean the world to us.
The purpose of the pictures were for memories, but also these pictures will be used for most 2009-10 cards, Mother's Day gifts, etc. We'll need moving announcements, Christmas cards, and V-day for next year. (which maybe Ms. Nina can help me again with???)

Yeah here's my shout out to JCrew with my bright yellow bag.

Hope you've enjoy Round 1 of the Jetplane Loving.... stay tuned for more...
XOXO

Killing you with pure cuteness..

I received this from my MIL and it sure did make my crazy day a little better.

Happy Thursday to you all...
