Coming home...

We had our 1st wave of homecomings yesterday and it was glorious. I was moved to tears numerous times....driving to base...walking in the hanger...feeling the 747 fly over us...watching the door open to cheers...and seeing these families reunite. It was beautiful and it made me so proud. Only a few of our squadron members came home yesterday but it was wonderful to see them back on U.S. soil. Our squadron color is red. Our wives group has decided to try to wear red dresses when our spouses come home. These ladies were looking good yesterday :) Here is the plane arriving. Everyone anxiously awaiting their loved ones. I didn't know the majority of the people coming home yesterday but it didn't make it any less emotional. I was standing behind this family. The deployed father surprised them from behind. It was so cute...and then I cried some more :) This lovely family had their 2nd boy while daddy was deployed. He is meeting his new lil boy for the 1st time. This couple is close friends with Mr and I. We came to Idaho together and he flies with my husband alot. It was beautiful to see them reunited. We've shared the pain we've been going through without our husbands. Only a fellow milwife can really understand what you're going through.
The fun (and tears) are just beginning folks. We have a lot more homecomings coming up. Who's ready???

Guess What?

Its almost end of the summer...

While most of the world is probably sad about that fact I am not. I'm freaking happy the summer is almost over. You know why? The end of summer means my hubby will be heading home. Its all classified so I can't tell you anything specific but in the coming WEEKS (WEEKS PEOPLE WEEKS, NOT MONTHS! WEEKS) he will be packing up and heading back to America. WOO HOO!

Hey sexy hubby....get your fine ass home ASAP :)

The Jetplanes have been discussing a lil post-deployment vacay and we've finally booked it. We're going to Hawaii!! Honolulu to be exact. Mr has been once but I haven't been before. Now that we live on the western side of the US it makes the trip a lot easier and less expensive. We'll be staying at Hale Koa Hotel . Its a military resort on the island which we've heard great things about.

I'm so excited! Thank you so much for those of you that have provided help and advice for this trip, I really appreciate it. Anyone else have any recommendations for things to do and see while we're there, I'm happy to take all the suggestions I can get.

But keep em' PG. My mother busted me out on Facebook letting me know that she'd like to get some grandkids out of this romantical vacay.... yes I about died when I read that as well. Subtle huh? Yeah...that's never been her strong suit!

Here's to time flying by (no pun intended)...

How does your garden grow...

When the Jetplanes did our final inspection on our new house we were totally surprised to find that the sellers had planted the veggie garden. You can't imagine how happy I was.

The beds had been built but I was afraid we were moving too late in the season for me to plant anything, no needless to say I did the happy dance when I saw that it was planted and thriving.

We have corn, 2 types of cucumbers, 3 types of tomatoes, spaghetti squash and summer squash.

I just love all the yellow flowers on the squash... Also, I only know 1 way to cook spaghetti squash so I'm going to need to learn some new recipes.

I harvested my 1st summer squash and I think a couple more can be picked tomorrow. I'm eager for all the tomatoes, I love myself some tomatoes. And I'm begging my cucumbers to grow because I can't wait to make this.

Casa de Jetplane #2 Update

Well, we're in full swing over here preparing for the upcoming move and future renters in our current abode.

And with all this, I have been day dreaming about future house and what it will look like (when we're done with it). Can you tell this house was built in the late 80s....

The top cabinets on the right will be going. Pendant lighting will be going in its place. Of course the lighting will be gone as well.
This is the view from the family room. The counter top is new as is the sink. Those will be staying (for cost reasons) but the back splash will be leaving. They are individual pieces glued to the wall. Subway tile will be going in its place. The counter is actually fairly short, I'm looking for shorter metal stools. I think I have found some on Overstock, but I need to measure.

Here is the eat in kitchen. There are 3 large windows on the side. Its actually fairly large area. I would like to have a built in window seat and a large built in china cabinet on the wall. New lighting...obviously.

The flooring in the entire house will be replaced, that's the first thing that is happening...oh so exciting. That right there, will change the entire look of this dated house.
Below are my inspiration pictures. I apologize that I don't have the links for the credits. I have a bad problem of not keeping track especially on my work computer. If you know the link, please let me know and I would happily give credit where credit is most definitely due.

Lovely pendent lighting, white tile, great metal stools... what's not to love. Right?Yes, there is an obviously theme here...
But my favorite is this kitchen by LAKBdesign, posted by House of Turquoise last week I believe. I had an immediate reaction to this kitchen, and those red stools....TDF, am I right?? This new house is truly going to be a labor of love... So much is going to be happening to the Jetplanes in the next 3 years as we live in this house... a deployment, holidays apart, easing into a life out West, and hopefully having a child... Its an exciting and scary time.

Pug Friday - Poker Face

The Jetplanes are leavin for Vegas this evening...That's right, Vegas Baby...Vegas.

The Jetplanes love Vegas, actually we love any excuse to gamble and drink free booze....whatever I'm just being honest.

So in honor of this week's Pug Friday....

FYI - I'm almost meeting up with an awesome fellow blogger and mil wife, jealous?

Happy Pug Friday!!

We're Locked and Loaded People...

The offer is accepted.... I'm a mix of excitement, nerves, smiles, and anxiety.

This song has been in my head since I received the call from Mr. Jetplane with the news...

My husband's back...

Yes, Mr. Jetplane is back from his training in Idaho and arrived 2 days early...Yeah. Of course, he was mentally and physically exhausted and proceeded to sleep for the majority of the weekend, not that I could blame him.

What else happened this weekend.

1. I participated in Relay for Life.
2. We put in an offer for a house in Idaho.
3. We ate at one of the worse restaurants ever...I wanted to walk out before we even sat down, considering it was a buffet and we had NO idea it was a buffet. But Mr. made me stay.
4. Went through my closet for clothes to donate/throw away.
5. Made Stuffed Shells for dinner
6. Started to plan outfits for Vegas!!

Yeah, all in all it was a very boring weekend. There was nothing out at the theaters I wanted to see and we stopped at Red Box near our house 3x and it was always out of the 3 movies we wanted to see :(

How was your weekend...hopefully more exciting than ours...

What to Wear...

Mr. Jetplane will be graduating from flight school in June. The graduation will be a formal affair and require a more formal gown, but that being said, Mrs. Jetplane is counting her pennies right now due to future trip to Vegas (30th day/2 yr anniv trip) and upcoming move and potential home purchase in IDAHO.

I wanted something cute but nothing that looks too "promy" or "mother of the bride". Also, nothing too slutty, some of the dresses women tend to wear at these things are at times borderline street walking attire. My goal is to always be classic and timeless, so I could wear the dress again if needed. But also I also want the dress to stand out and be different from the sea of silk, taffeta, and black.

What to see what I came up with...

Dress can be found here.

Let's hope we don't have a repeat of the horror that was my last dining out experience.

Our Own Private Idaho

If you don't know by now the Jetplanes are moving to the great state of Idaho. It was our 1st choice and we're surprisingly pretty excited about the move. Most of you thought we'd like to go to England, and honestly part of us did, but our decision was made based upon both of our careers, future family plans, and current family situations....oh and moving our 2 dogs to England was something I most definitely wasn't looking forward to.

England was our 2nd choice, for Mr. it would be the best career choice, its the best of the best in the world of F15e's, but it wouldn't necessarily been the best for us. Sure the travel would be awesome, that's the best part, but we had to weigh all our options. There are pro's and con's to all 3 locations, and I won't air the 'dirty laundry' on here.

Idaho has the 2nd best flying and I can keep my job. Moving to England I wouldn't have been able to and right now, without kids, we want that additional income. So we're moving to Idaho....

We are freaking moving to Idaho...Honestly, if we weren't moving there, I don't think I would have ever had a reason to even visit there...

But down to brass tacks...we will be living in BFE middle of no where Idaho. Luckily, we will be (depending on where we live) 20 - 50 minutes away from Boise, which we hear is an awesome city. We're excited about living out West. We're excited to be near great snowboarding. We're excited to live near mountains....us Midwesterners are used to seeing hills and corn fields...bring on the mountains.

It will be a HUGE change but we like change, and being a mil wife, that's gotta be a mantra. If we stay in fighters, we'll most likely end up back in here in NC or head over to England. There are only 3 bases that have the jet Mr flies.

To answer some questions I know are going to come.
1. No we aren't upset about leaving our house here in NC (well alittle). We bought it with the intention of renting it out.
2. I will keep my job and do it from home in Idaho.
3. Mr could be deploying as early as January 2011.
4. We are in baby discussion mode but #3 has a lot to do with.
5. We may buy a house in Idaho, or rent, or live on base, we don't know yet.
Anyone out there that has or is living at Mountain Home AFB, or MoHo as we're calling it, please feel free to pass along any and all information.
And a big THANK YOU to Preppy Nonsense for the lovely picture. So jealous of you being in Indy right now....Go BULLDOGS!!! FYI - we're still planning on flying into Indy next season for a Colts game....

AHHH Hell Yeah!!

Its been a crazy ass time for the Jetplanes for the past couple of months. Between Mr's flight school, my mother's surgery, his family matters, my work, painting the house, tending to 2 crazy ass dogs....we need a lil time to ourselves.

And this weekend (and Monday since I'm taking it off) we're heading to CHARLESTON, SC!!!!

I don't know if I have been this excited in such a long time... We got good deal on a hotel in the Historic area and I've already booked a Valentine's Day brunch at Magnolias thanks to the help of Grits.
Can't wait!!!

From Our House to Yours!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Jetplanes. And to all the military families spending this holiday away from each other, THANK YOU for what you do and know that you are in our hearts and minds during this holiday season.

I know that the Jetplanes will spend at least one holiday apart in the coming years and I gain courage from your strength and dedication. You are a true inspiration to me and my journey through my newly found military life.

AND FINALLY!!! WONDERFUL, FABULOUS NEWS!!

One of the the most wonderful and fabulous (yes I know I repeated it) girls in the entire world is engaged!!

Jill, are you reading?!? Wave to the readers Jill!! Readers wave back to Jill!!

She is engaged!! I'm so over the moon excited for her and Billy (I'm sorry Bill now that we graduated college...apologies Bill).

Congrats to them and may this make their holiday alittle more brighter.

Love you girl and miss you like a crazy person!!

TONIGHT is the NIGHT

Is anyone else excited?
Here's what I'm hoping for...
1. MORE Eric... naked preferably (well we can wish, can't we...)

2. The END of MaryAnn... she is a totally unnecessary to this story line and unbelievably annoying. This deviation from the book has be the one gigantic black mark on the entire season for me.

3. Hopefully we find out that Bill isn't as 'great' has he is believed to be. (I believe the seed was planted...The queen knows of Sookie. For all you non-readers of the books... you'll be in for quite a treat if the show plays true to the books... PRO-ERIC all the way.)

Can't wait for tonight! But I'm also sad because the season is over... Boo... there better be some hot ass Eric action tonight!!

P.S. I'm also excited for Design Star tonight, does anyone else watch that?

Pug Friday - Home Office Edition

Well since this is my 1st full week at the Casa de Jetplane Home Office I thought this could be a fitting tribute. Enjoy!!

FYI- Paint and Rug were purchased last night. This office will be totally different by Tuesday! I will admit I did chicken out a little bit, its not as turquoise as I had originally envisioned, its a little more greenish/blue sea glass color... I got to the paint counter and lost my strength. But no fear its still going to be bright as hell in here...

Home Office is Becoming a REALITY

This weekend the transformation is happening....

My inspiration is coming to life, I'm very excited and Mr. Jetplane is a little weirded out. He can't believe I want to paint my office turquoise and I can't believe he doesn't get it. Oh well...

Here is the inspiration...
My new desk from JCPenny is working out great and as of yesterday we have blinds up throughout the house. Thank you GOD for privacy...Mr. Jetplane kept telling the lady at Lowe's that he needs blinds in his house so he can walk around naked... yeah that's my hubby...quite the funny guy.

I've even found a 'cheap' zebra print rug that will be going down as well. I am so flipping excited... now can someone come over and paint... I'm not looking forward to that part.

Room inspiration from here...

Giddy as a School Girl

Well Hello Eric. So nice to see you. I hope I get to see you on Sunday night!!

I'm so freaking excited about True Blood coming back on Sunday that its ridiculous. But I'm going to admit something here... Since reading and loving all the books, I have a feeling that I'm not going to agree with some of the choices Alan Ball is going to have made. I get it... he's a creative genius and all, Six Feet Under was a fabulous show....but I love these books Mr. Ball... don't f it up. I'm committed to these characters, I'm invested in the storylines, and I don't want you to screw with it.

Somethings I'm worried about... some potential spoilers for you since I read about the 1st several episodes.

1. I'm not feeling the story for the Maenad.
2. There is no Bubba. I understand why, but still there should be a similar character to replace him
3. Jason in the Fellowship? Not feeling it.
4. Worried about how they will show the fight/ending of Book 2.
5. They better start to develop the love triangle. I am very much Pro-Eric and I think they have to bring him into it or else there will be hell to pay.
6. Evan Rachel Wood as the Queen of Louisiana...not sure about that either

But, I'll wait to cast final judgements. Thoughts? Are you all excited? The Jetplanes will be watching that's for sure.

Making me SMILE today...

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

Back in action.... Mrs. Jetplane adores No Doubt. Back in the day, we're talking 1994-1995 here, Mrs. Jetplane was hardcore into ska, punk, reggae and a little bit of everything in between. I WANTED to be Gwen. In 9th or 10th grade, I had tickets to the No Doubt/Bush but unfortunately someone got grounded and had to give her ticket away... :( It scarred me for life...

The excitement is building...

Mr. Jetplane will be back home in 3 weeks, that is 21 days. Yeah! I can't wait to see him and get to live with my husband again.

But I'll be the first to admit, its going to tough and take some adjustment. We did live together before marriage for about a year and a half, but we've been living apart since August. Yes, he came home in October for 2 weeks, but that didn't really count. So now, Mrs. Jetplane has to start picking up after herself, watching television shows she doesn't like, and get to sleep with a man in her bed again (Milo doesn't count).

One other issue will be, Mr. Jetplane won't be in training while he's here until we leave for NC. With his knee surgery, he's gotten rolled back a class or 2 so we'll be here until Aug/Sept most likely. He may have a stash job, but nothing that big. Knowing his way to sweet talk his way into or out of anything, I don't see it being but a couple hours a week. That means he'll be home ALL THE TIME. That means that he'll need to do activities all the time. He's already looked into sailing and kite boarding lessons. ummm... I hope they're on the weekdays so I can't do them. Mr. Jetplane is extremely active, and Mrs. Jetplane... well I always joke that I'm built for comfort not for speed... (kinda like Milo)

But will all that being said, I can't wait to have my man back home. I miss him so much.

*Sorry for my need to post wedding pictures. I'm sorta obsessed with looking at pictures of us. I promise it will stop once he's back.
