Peace Out Shady J

The Jetplanes are leaving North Carolina today...thank you NC, we've enjoyed our brief time here.

We'll definitely miss all the great people we're leaving behind. The fighter community is really small and we look forward to seeing you all soon again.

We're off on to start this new adventure and are pretty excited about it.... wish us luck :)

Into the great wide open...

Today is the last work day before the move. The packers/movers were suppose to be here today...Haha...but that appears to not be happening until tomorrow...gotta love Military moves.

So I'll be hitting the road mid day tomorrow to head to Illinois and Mr. will get on the road when the movers finish packing up the truck. Its not ideal, nor what we want, but its the best solution. We'll be staying in Illinois for a few days, so he'll meet me at my parents house.

I remind myself over and over again that very soon I'll be calling this place home...

I'll be able to see the mountains every day...to me that's alittle surreal. I'm a Midwest girl, it took me a while to get used to seeing the water everyday when we lived in Pcola.

See you all on the flipside...I hope to be able to blog alittle over the next 2 weeks, but no promises.

XOXO

Pug Friday - Peace out NC

Today is our last Friday in North Carolina. To be totally honest with you, my life is so crazy right now that I didn't know it was Friday until 10 minutes ago. And to make matters even worse...I wish it was still Thursday or better yet Wednesday, yeah I know I've lost it. This week has moved way too fast for me.

So for today's Pug Friday is my new Twitter picture. If you don't have a Twitter, well its probably better than way. I'm totally addicted to it and spend all damn day on it, so you've been warned.

Anyway....I digress. The packers are going to come today or Monday, yes that is what TMO said. For you non-mil, that the office that runs and oversees all the moving...don't ask me with TMO stands for, I don't know and I don't care. All I want to know is they won't lose our paperwork anymore, computers should be working 5 days a week, and stop giving us lame ass excuses. In our last move, we had an agent come out and access our 'stuff' to determine if we were a 1 day or 2 day pack, then move. Well obviously that's not what is happening here :)

I hope they show up on Monday and can pack everything in 1 day. Honestly, they should be able to, but you never know what type of crew you are going to get in here. Here's to an easy pack/move....

Well I gotta get back to work, I'm taking 2 weeks off for this move so I have a TON of work to do...shoot me now...

Happy Pug Friday!!!

In just 8 short days...

The Jetplanes will be hitting the road and leaving North Carolina in our rear view mirror. We're moving to Idaho people...
We're heading to Illinois the first day and spending a couple of days with both my family and his, then heading out to the wild west...
So please forgive me for my current and potentially continued status of MIA, as one could expect its pretty crazy over here right now.

Status of the Jetplanes Real Estate Empire...

If you read this blog, you will know that the Jetplanes are moving to Idaho and we put an offer in that was accepted on a house. We had the standard inspection done on Tuesday and there were only minimal issues, the house was built in the late 80s, so we anticipated some small details.

The house has a wooden shingled roof, a roof that we had never seen before, so we had a roof inspector come out and do an inspection. It was only $50. A general inspector will not provide you a detailed roof inspection, so we chose to pay for an additional inspection. Well it turns out this inspector actually did an inspection on this roof for the home owners last year and replaced several of the shingles. He gives the roof a 5 years or more (with maintenance) rating. Well, that is not good enough for us.

So needless to say, we've submitted another amended offer on the house last night. This might be a deal breaker if we can't come to some compromise. We've been up front and honest with our agent telling her we have concerns about the roof. I think our agent thinks we're crazy or delusional or something. It feels like she thinks we're too demanding or expecting too much. That's fine, but we're not buying a house that will need a new roof in 5 years, that my friend just ain't happening...unless you show us some money...

Oh and THANK YOU all so much for the birthday wishes, I really appreciate it. And on a total side note...guess who got carded while ordering a drink at dinner last night...this lady!!!

UPDATE: The seller has agreed to put on a whole new roof. Ask and you shall receive... we are SHOCKED and so HAPPY!!!

Update on Casa de Jetplane #2

We received a counter offer at the price we were expecting and submitted our 'final' offer last night around 9pm Eastern time. Our agent thinks they are going to accept it.... Do you want to know the honest to goodness first thing out of my mouth with Mr. Jetplane told me that...

"Oh Sh!t!"

Yeah! This is really happening, we're buying a 2nd house. In the past year we will moved twice, bought 2 houses, become a landlord, and will experience our 1st deployment.

We can 'do this'. So please don't worry about our financial situation. We're currently deciding between a 15 or 30 yr mortgage.

We were lucky 1st time home buyers that secured the tax credit of $8,000 last year, what my hubby's likes to call "Free Obama Money" and that's being used as a chunk of the down payment. If we would have stayed in NC we would have finished the other side of our attic for my office and a bathroom with that money.

So needless to say the stress level is high and I may have spoke to God at length last night laying in bed. Here's to winning big in Vegas....right?

Holy Crap!

I turn 30 on June 2nd. 30 people...30...the big 3 mfing 0.

By the horrible light in the Air Force motel I stayed at in Idaho I spotted 5 more disgusting gray hairs sprouting from my left side hair line. Granted I KNOW I don't look like I'm going to turn 30 next month, but its happening people. People feel the need to constantly remind me that I don't look old enough to 30. For example all this occurred during my Idaho trip.

1. Real Estate Agent and I were at a Bunco charity event and I made a comment about my upcoming birthday and trip to Vegas....her response "Oh Thank God, I thought you might be young enough to be my grand-daughter!" Yeah no, I'm not 20 I'm turning 30.

2. At airport buying a book since I finished my newest Sookie book at the beginning of my flight from Chicago to Boise. I am wearing yoga pants, a Notre Dame tshirt, and wrap sweatshirt jacket. I place my book on the counter and the cashier (who doesn't speak English all that well) asks me, oh do you like ND, why yes I do sir. Then he asked something that I thought I understood but needed it repeated to me 3x... Are you planning on going there for college???
No, I graduated college 8 yrs ago....then I get what I always get...NO WAY. YOU LOOK SOOOO YOUNG. Then he proceeded to tell me a totally inappropriate story about his attractive neighbor (with a banging body illustrated with hand gestures) who has 3 daughters and she's in her 40s but all the boys are hitting on her all the time...ummm thanks Mr. I totally don't need to hear this, this morning.

3. A lovely man from Orange County sitting next to me on my flight home from Chicago to Raleigh, who definitely knew entirely too much about celebrity gossip (wink wink) talked at length about how I didn't look my age, how he'd DIE for my skin, and then had an in depth conversation about if one can breast feed with implants.

Yeah people...it was quite a trip.

But the point of the story is .... I am turning 30. I wanted to be in good shape by 30, I wanted to have dropped the extra couple of lbs I've put on since our wedding. But the thing about that is...well to be totally honest with you...I'm freaking lazy. And between work, the move, and well utter laziness, working out is something I have no interest in doing... ugh.

30 people...30. I know its not the end of the world, I KNOW THAT. But its a BIG deal. I'm not in my 20s anymore...30 seems so ADULT, and I don't feel ADULT. When should I start feeling like an ADULT? Oh boy...that's a whole other issue for another post...

XOXO

Hello there...

Sorry I've been MIA lately. The Jetplanes have way too much going on right now between the huge amount of work I have and our upcoming move, needless to say its crazy. Its so crazy that I haven't done Pug Friday lately, and I ALWAYS do Pug Friday.

Mr. Jetplane is currently in Idaho for the week training. He was supposed to be there on Friday and get to look at the houses I like on Saturday. Unfortunately he had a pressurization issue with the jet and had to turn around and come back home. He left early Sunday morning with the rest of the squadron. He's a busy bee out there and with the time difference its hard to get to talk to him :(

Hopefully he has a lil time to make to the houses today or Thursday.

In other news, we have a rental contract on our house here in NC. We listed it and literally had 1 viewing within 24 hrs and they wanted it!! That is such a huge relief, we had budgeted/prepared to carry the mortgage for a couple of months, if we needed to. So glad we don't have to!!

We are heading to Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend, and I am sooo excited. We both love Vegas, I mean what's not to love, right? Well...dry heaving into a paper cup in a limo with no air conditioning sitting next to your MIL heading to your SIL's wedding in 4" heels having shoved a potentially broken foot into them from a fall in the middle of the MGM (honest I was sober at that point)...well maybe that wasn't a day I'd like to relive...

But Vegas Baby Vegas!!! Yes perhaps the visions of our upcoming trip is getting me through this crazy time at work and me missing the Mr. while he's gone...

Where in the world....has Mrs. Jetplane been...

Well gumshoes I've been in the great state of Idaho. I got back late Monday evening and have been in a maniac state ever since. For those of you that need a quick geography lesson Idaho is here...

Yeah its way the hell out west.... I had never been to the Northwest until last week. We will be living in area south of Boise.
And I learned that I will be investing in a couple of things....
1. Humidifier
2. Lotion
3. Chapstick
4. a new pair of gloves
More detailed post about my trip to follow...

Our Own Private Idaho

If you don't know by now the Jetplanes are moving to the great state of Idaho. It was our 1st choice and we're surprisingly pretty excited about the move. Most of you thought we'd like to go to England, and honestly part of us did, but our decision was made based upon both of our careers, future family plans, and current family situations....oh and moving our 2 dogs to England was something I most definitely wasn't looking forward to.

England was our 2nd choice, for Mr. it would be the best career choice, its the best of the best in the world of F15e's, but it wouldn't necessarily been the best for us. Sure the travel would be awesome, that's the best part, but we had to weigh all our options. There are pro's and con's to all 3 locations, and I won't air the 'dirty laundry' on here.

Idaho has the 2nd best flying and I can keep my job. Moving to England I wouldn't have been able to and right now, without kids, we want that additional income. So we're moving to Idaho....

We are freaking moving to Idaho...Honestly, if we weren't moving there, I don't think I would have ever had a reason to even visit there...

But down to brass tacks...we will be living in BFE middle of no where Idaho. Luckily, we will be (depending on where we live) 20 - 50 minutes away from Boise, which we hear is an awesome city. We're excited about living out West. We're excited to be near great snowboarding. We're excited to live near mountains....us Midwesterners are used to seeing hills and corn fields...bring on the mountains.

It will be a HUGE change but we like change, and being a mil wife, that's gotta be a mantra. If we stay in fighters, we'll most likely end up back in here in NC or head over to England. There are only 3 bases that have the jet Mr flies.

To answer some questions I know are going to come.
1. No we aren't upset about leaving our house here in NC (well alittle). We bought it with the intention of renting it out.
2. I will keep my job and do it from home in Idaho.
3. Mr could be deploying as early as January 2011.
4. We are in baby discussion mode but #3 has a lot to do with.
5. We may buy a house in Idaho, or rent, or live on base, we don't know yet.
Anyone out there that has or is living at Mountain Home AFB, or MoHo as we're calling it, please feel free to pass along any and all information.
And a big THANK YOU to Preppy Nonsense for the lovely picture. So jealous of you being in Indy right now....Go BULLDOGS!!! FYI - we're still planning on flying into Indy next season for a Colts game....

Hello...Hello...Hello...

There you are...sorry I am been an MIA blogger the past couple of weeks, that was not my intention.

But it also wasn't my intention getting sick either. Today's post, unfortunately will be a random, I mean REAL random.

1. While sick I visited the Flight Doc on base. My doctor was quite a hottie and a former fighter pilot...it is not fun to talk about your bodily functions with a cute, young doctor, while dressed like homeless person with dirty hair, no makeup, and then realizing you aren't even wearing a bra...oh yeah...nice. Yes I left the house without a bra on, but in my defense, I was really sick and had on 2 shirts, a hoodie, yoga pants, a scarf, coat, and a hat...yeah homegirl was freezing her bootie off.

2. In about 30 days we will find out where we are moving to. The arrow is pointing to Idaho. Cue all the jealous now... I spent last night looking at houses for sale in Idaho.

3. I'm happy to report that I gave up online shopping for Lent and I haven't caved yet!!

4. This is currently on repeat on my computer and in my head....

5. The Jetplanes are going to a semi formal on Saturday. I'm recycling a black cocktail dress and sporting my Blue Bow Knock off Valentino shoes. Our squadron color is blue and I'm suppose to integrate that into my outfit. I'm worried I might not be dressed up enough, but oh well.

6. Also I've joined Formspring.me. You can ask me anything and everything you ever wanted...and do it anonymously if you so wish....

On The Move... Again

Such is the life of a mil wife... on the move, making adjustments, and just plain sucking it up and dealing with whatever life (aka military) throws your way.

Lesson #1
Learn to Deal

Sure you can bitch and moan, get really pissed, yell at your husband, etc. etc. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter, you nor he can change it.. 2 sayings that are very common in our household... "It is what it is" and "The needs of the military supersede your own needs"

No truer statements in my book. But it isn't all bad... I might bitch about it, but its doable and it is what you make of it...

Well with all that being said, WE'RE MOVING ON TUESDAY! We close on our house a week from today. And this girl could not move without sending out a moving announcement and the moving announcement has to have a picture of our children (aka our dogs).

The announcements are going in the mail tonight... So for those of you that will be getting one... this is a taste of what's come. Don't spill the beans to anyone else.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent...i.e. ME.

(Milo is gonna drive, Charlie is gonna hold the map...cross your fingers we get there!)

Thank you to Nina for all help and special thanks to Mrs. Newlywed for helping me be creative and witty, when it felt very hard to come by.

Nina is very easy to work with and does a fabulous job, so if you're in the market for a holiday card, moving announcement, etc... check her out.

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for the shout out!!

Casa de Jetplane Update

This time next week movers will be at our house in Pcola loading up a truck with all (well most) of our belongings. For you fellow mil wives, we're doing a partial DITY, which is what I always recommend.

To you non-mil folk, we're moving some of our stuff ourselves in a UHAUL - my office stuff, our large television, 1 mattress, and some clothes.

The house is coming together. It was appraised last week and the home inspection is happening tomorrow. Its a new house so there shouldn't be any issues.

Here's how the bonus room is shaping up... can't you just envision a window seat in the opening on the side there... As you can see the floors are going in this week. We are having them match the floors in the downstairs living room. FYI- I didn't pick out the fans, but they will serve their purpose.

Here's the front, you can't tell but we had all new railing put in and the front porch redone. Can't you envision beautiful hydrangea bushes in the front of the porch... Oh I can.

North Carolina... here we come...
