Hello there...

Sorry I've been MIA lately. The Jetplanes have way too much going on right now between the huge amount of work I have and our upcoming move, needless to say its crazy. Its so crazy that I haven't done Pug Friday lately, and I ALWAYS do Pug Friday.

Mr. Jetplane is currently in Idaho for the week training. He was supposed to be there on Friday and get to look at the houses I like on Saturday. Unfortunately he had a pressurization issue with the jet and had to turn around and come back home. He left early Sunday morning with the rest of the squadron. He's a busy bee out there and with the time difference its hard to get to talk to him :(

Hopefully he has a lil time to make to the houses today or Thursday.

In other news, we have a rental contract on our house here in NC. We listed it and literally had 1 viewing within 24 hrs and they wanted it!! That is such a huge relief, we had budgeted/prepared to carry the mortgage for a couple of months, if we needed to. So glad we don't have to!!

We are heading to Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend, and I am sooo excited. We both love Vegas, I mean what's not to love, right? Well...dry heaving into a paper cup in a limo with no air conditioning sitting next to your MIL heading to your SIL's wedding in 4" heels having shoved a potentially broken foot into them from a fall in the middle of the MGM (honest I was sober at that point)...well maybe that wasn't a day I'd like to relive...

But Vegas Baby Vegas!!! Yes perhaps the visions of our upcoming trip is getting me through this crazy time at work and me missing the Mr. while he's gone...

Excuse Me....

As most of you now, if you've read this blog for any period of time, the Jetplanes recently moved to NC at the end of the summer. So far, we've really enjoyed it but something has been really bugging me lately and it came to a head yesterday with 2 situations.

You see, I, Mrs. Jetplane, like to pride myself on being a very self sufficient woman. I graduated college, moved to another state away from all my family and friends for a job out of college, lived in an unfamiliar city for several years, met and fell in love with Mr. Jetplane, moved to FL then NC, and have a job that (luckily) will allow me to work from home and follow Mr. Jetplane as he goes through his military career. I am 29 (almost 30...ugh) but will fully admit that I look very young for my age. But I'm not...I'm very strong willed, opinionated, and articulate when I want to speak my mind.

So this leads me to issues that I've had since we started the process of moving to NC. First it started off with our real estate agent, a nice woman, that REFUSED to EVER call me or email me back. She ONLY communicated with Mr. Jetplane. I would send her a detailed email with bullet points of everything we needed answers on. No RESPONSE. I would call her - leave her a detailed voice mail - NO RESPONSE. Mr. Jetplane calls....BAM problem solved.

We're looking for cars, for ME, I'm trading in my Jeep, I'm paying for the loan, its MY money... People don't even look at me when discussing the cars. People don't even look at me when discussing my income, credit score, etc. HELLO!!! Sitting right here!!

Yesterday I had to talk with the finance department at the car dealership where we purchased a vehicle at the end of 2009. There are some issues, because we are excepting a check from either the dealership or credit union for the overage paid on the loan. I have called and left 2 messages at the car dealership, no response. Mr. calls and gets to speak to someone and tells her to call me back yesterday. She did, and I let her know that I had left her 2 previous messages. She kept referring to the loan and car as HIS... I assured her that the loan, the car, the trade in...it was MINE not HIS. He called because I couldn't get you to call me back.

Again last night, I have been calling our pet sitter to confirm that we are still on for this weekend. I have left 2 messages on her cell phone and tried to email but I keep getting bounced backs. Mr. Jetplane calls and she calls him RIGHT BACK!!

OMG I'm really flipping out here. I get the whole MAN OF THE HOUSE crap, sure I may even use it on solicitors or telemarketing people, but I don't really buy into it. I am a strong woman that makes her own money, and I really wish I could get some respect around here. I'm feeling a little like Rodney Dangerfield over here.

Does anyone else experience this??

Does Anyone Else Hear That Loud SUCKING Noise???

Yeah? That's my hard earned money being sucked out of my bank account... Don't get me wrong I love our new home (that we own). I love picking out paint colors, drapes, rugs, etc. I love deciding where the mirror should go, how to arrange my pantry, and sleep in our brand new room.

But as much as I love to shop and spend money... I hate to spend money... and spend money is what we've been doing... a lot of.

1. Buying all new blinds for the house. It was new and had none.
2. Buying lawn stuff... the yard was a little sad and it costs a lot to get all the crap we needed for it.
3. Buying new curtain rods. We have several windows that are much larger than our previous houses. Which also led to some new curtains...
4. New furniture... we assumed we'd be buying furniture for the downstairs living room since our sectional would go upstairs in our new bonus room. Ha Ha! Sectional won't fit up the stairs. Luckily we sold it to a friend (for quite a deal for him). We have purchased new furniture for downstairs and upstairs. Yeah!!! Did that sucking noise just get alot louder all of a sudden??
5. Food... having to buy all new condiments, oils, etc. You wouldn't think would be a big deal, but it seriously adds up.
6. Garage crap... Mr. needed to build a work bench, have shelving, and is now coating the garage floor...
7. Still need to buy 2 rugs, one for downstairs and one for upstairs...why are rugs so expensive? Speaking of which... why are baskets so expensive... and curtain rods? and pillows? ugh...

Oh and the list goes on and on...

Sorry for the rant...

Important Shopping Information Below...

Kate Spade sale on Rue La La today starting at 10am Central.

If you need an invite click on link below.

Please leave all the size 6.5 shoes to me, there appears to me some very cute flats. I'm not interested in the sunglasses so please focus on them and not the shoes...shoes are my crack...and mama needs her crack. I have $90 in credits from an unfortunate Juicy purchase burning a hole in my pocket that I want to spend today.

Additionally,BR and JCrew outlets appear to be having great sales this weekend. Also, BR accidentally sent me my Luxe Card bill 2x this month, and included my $20 off card twice. Holla!! Someone may be going to the outlet this weekend, even though she told her hubby no shopping...ugh...

The Jetplanes Threw Down This Morning About...

THIS... Yes you see correctly... Peanut Butter and most importantly the Battle of Creamy v. Crunchy.

You see the Jetplanes have fundamentally different views on peanut butter, I am a creamy and he unfortunately is a crunchy, go figure right? Well, since Mr. Jetplane was not living with me for 6 months (don't flip out recent readers...he was at training) I NEVER brought crunchy. Well now he's back and bitching about the fact that I don't buy him crunchy peanut butter. So again this morning while putting peanut butter on his raisin toast and filling Charlie's KONG with peanut butter he shouted from the kitchen... "Hey...Seriously hon, buy me some crunchy peanut butter!"

Me: "Get over it! There is no need to have 2 different peanut butters in this house and I BUY the groceries. Its a total waste of $4 to have 2 jars of it in the house."

Him: "Whatever!"

Me: "Ok I'll buy you your crunch peanut butter but you decide what you don't want this week instead."

Him: "Huh?"

Me: "Yes that's right... I have to buy raisin bread, tortillas, Naked Drinks, Gatorade, Soy Milk, certain type of healthy cereal, Luna bars, and I have to wait in line for a certain type of lunch meat....etc. etc. etc. So you decide what can go so I can buy your peanut butter."

Him: "Fine! Then I'll go buy it myself!"

Me: "Really? You understand that we, and by we, I mean I, spend $400 a month on groceries* and I don't really see the point in having 2 jars of relatively the exact same food."

Him: "I said I'll buy it myself!"

Me: "Okay... you do that, but keep in mind if you bought the groceries... you would tell me what I wanted wasn't a necessity and we didn't need it... Or what I wanted wasn't 'healthy' and it shouldn't be in the house..."

Him: "No I wouldn't.... (thinking...) Okay.... you're right... I would do that..."

*$400/ month for groceries may seem high to some, but we generally bring our lunches to work and don't go out to eat that much. But I am making an effort to reduce the costs... and therefore 2 jars of peanut butter... not needed.

This is what I felt like doing to him with the peanut butter this morning...

Attention all mil wives...

I heard about this on the news this week, and the Jetplanes experienced last week.

Credit card companies are sending notices to their customers that due to the nature of the economy they are raising rates. We received a notice from BoA about our card. Actually, it was Mr. Jetplane's card that he got right after college and secured a lifetime 4.9% interest, yes LIFETIME. Well, obviously BoA and the Jetplanes have a different opinion on what LIFETIME is.

We received a notice in the mail that they would be increasing our rate to over 11%, yes more than doubling it.

Mr. Jetplane called and reamed the person out, but that didn't matter they didn't care we had a lifetime rate, and Mr. Jetplane said we'd drop our card with them. But then, he pulled the card that all military should be aware of The Soldiers and Sailors Act. This act allows you to do several things... 1st break a lease and another one of interest is that your interest rates can be capped at 6%.

You have to discuss that with the credit card company and you'll have to provide a copy of your orders. As a result, our card was on hold for a few days, but now we're locked in at a little over 5% interest on the card.

I wanted to put this information out there for those of you that might not know about this act. And with people receiving these notices, you need to act NOW and get this situation handled immediately. The rates will take place in the next few months, and by then it could be too late.

Rue La La is going to ruin me...

So today was the DVF sale. I gladly passed on all the Prada yesterday. As much as I would love to, I couldn't rationalize dropping over $1,000 for a bag yesterday.

But today I bought 2 dresses from the DVF sale. I just hope they fit, I got a size 4, which usually fits, so cross your fingers they do. I have a DVF resort dress that I bought from the Barney's Outlet in Texas and its a 4 so I took a guess.
Anyway, here's what I purchased this morning.

I adore this dress striped dress, and I'm interested to see exactly what color the brown belt is. This dress may have to be hemmed, since I'm quite a shortie, but we'll see. This dress has lil airplanes all over it. Too cute, right, Mrs. Jetplane in her airplane dress.

I adore DVF. But due to these 2 purchases, I may have to obstain from the rest of the sales this week, if I know what's good for me.

P.S. Thank you all for your supportive comments earlier today. I greatly appreciate it.

The Mr. coming through for me as always...

He just called and bitched to the credit card company and they removed the late fee they put on our account.... Thank you Mr.

They told me, even though the account was shut off for 2 weeks due to fraudulent activity, and I just received my new account number on Thursday night in the mail, had NO access to the account because we hadn't been issued a new number, and set up the funds transfer for a payment to the credit card on Friday.... the jerk on the phone made it sound like I was lying and making it up that I had paid my bill....

We I did thank you very much... the money came out of my account, Regions said they sent it to you, and its definitely not my fault... give me my $39.00 back...

Well the Mr. set the world right again... He called and threaten to pull the account that he's had for over 5 years, and never been late on a single payment...

They apologized for being jerks and removed the late fee. Good thing, because the Mr. loves that Chicago Cubs card...
** This photo cracks me up. The Mr. really wanted to get to lift his leg in a photo. He's such a cheeseball. Photo from Oeil Photography.

Yeah Me...

Today I got my monthly commission check. It might be time to help the economy... at the outlet mall.

But first a chunk of it went to the credit card. Still paying off some wedding related purchases, the new laptop, and an occasional clothing purchase.... shh...

What the Hell?

So I'm watching today's Oprah, its about the recession and people that are in debt. Right now, she's talking to people that are $90k in debt and have 29 freaking credit cards.

Ok America, what the hell is wrong with this picture? I am 28 years old, I've done pretty well for myself over the past 6 years since I graduated college. But here's the kicker.... I have never been able to get a credit card. People that are in debt, get credit cards. People like me, that never had a credit card, no student loans, no car loans, no debt.... guess what... no credit for you. You're undesirable... You have insufficient credit history. People, I've been turned down for a Victoria Secret card.

Brent, my financial planner that he is, has been helping me try to build credit. My mom co-signed for my car loan, I even took out a small loan and paid it back over a 2 period of time just purely to generate some credit. Its been tough. I've had to buy furniture out right, we're talking a couple thousand bucks. I had to pay double deposits for things. Its totally sucked people. Luckily, my 1st job out of college I had a company car so all my bills were paid out of my 1st paycheck of the month. My 2nd job, I got large quarterly bonuses that I could save for those large purchases. And now, I get a monthly commission.

I will say over the past couple years I've slowly built some credit. I got a Banana Republic card and I was thrilled when I was able to get a Sears card to buy my elliptical machine with. But that's it. (I recently closed the Sears card.)

But the best thing about getting married was truly getting credit. My husband Brent has fabulous credit, and he actually put me on one of his credit cards for wedding purchases. And I'm now paying it off.

So here's my main question, and a major discussion that Brent and I had over dinner this past weekend.... how did it get THIS bad. What were people thinking.... especially people that bought houses they could never afford, getting 20 credit cards, buying new cars.... I'm just so confused....

Now they are saying that getting loans for the next couple of years is going to be extremely tough. Brent and I are planning on buying a house when we move to NC. This all makes me nervous, luckily by that time we should have saved a healthy down payment but we will also have a VA loan if we need it.
