Thankful
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone...
I hope this day is filled with love and laughter and of course mounds of delicious food.

I feel this year I have so much to be thankful for. Its been a tough year for the Jetplanes and we've made it through. I am so thankful to have my loving family and friends and forever thankful that my husband came home safe and sound after 7 long months of deployment.
I am thankful for my job and our ability to keep a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. I am thankful for the recent vacation to Hawaii that we just enjoyed and the quality time that we got to spend together.
I am thankful for our health and that my mother remains cancer free.
I am thankful for our fur babies and that after "several" medical issues while Mr. was deployed they are still with us and add such joy to my life.
I am thankful for the wonderful friends we have made since joining the military and in particular the amazing women that I have come to call my friends. They have lifted me up in my times of need and have been an unbelievable support system.
I am thankful for so much today and everyday.
Have a wonderful holiday and safe travels to all...
XOXO

Pug Friday - I iz sadz pug

Last night I came to bed about 10 minutes after Mr. Jetplane and he was asleep. He was lightly snoring and 8 Mile was on the television. I crawled into bed and thought to myself, 6 months ago I would be annoyed that he is snoring but last night it made me cry. I cried realizing that I won't hear that light, soft snore for a very long time.
Yesterday I received an email from a coworker of mine. He is a retired Marine, former helicopter pilot that was shot down in Vietnam and received the purple heart. He wrote,
"Thank God we have people like Mr. Jetplane willing to serve and protect us. Thank God for loving and supportive wives like you."
I may have lost it while he reading it.
Thank you to all those who have sent me kind tweets and emails, left lovely blog comments or Facebook messages, and special thank you to those that have sent me lovely gifts in the mail. I appreciate your support more than you'll ever know.
And if you know me in real life and I haven't returned your emails or phone calls, sorry.... I promise I will.

Home of the Brave

My thoughts and prayers are going out today to all of those who are currently in harm's way fighting for freedom. Special thoughts to our fellow F15e squadron that is currently making us proud over there right now. Fly Safe Guys.
And to my favorite Fly Boy...

Proud doesn't even begin to explain my feelings about you and your decision to serve your country. Fly safe today and I can't wait for you to get home tomorrow. xoxo

Status of the Jetplanes Real Estate Empire...
If you read this blog, you will know that the Jetplanes are moving to Idaho and we put an offer in that was accepted on a house. We had the standard inspection done on Tuesday and there were only minimal issues, the house was built in the late 80s, so we anticipated some small details.
The house has a wooden shingled roof, a roof that we had never seen before, so we had a roof inspector come out and do an inspection. It was only $50. A general inspector will not provide you a detailed roof inspection, so we chose to pay for an additional inspection. Well it turns out this inspector actually did an inspection on this roof for the home owners last year and replaced several of the shingles. He gives the roof a 5 years or more (with maintenance) rating. Well, that is not good enough for us.
So needless to say, we've submitted another amended offer on the house last night. This might be a deal breaker if we can't come to some compromise. We've been up front and honest with our agent telling her we have concerns about the roof. I think our agent thinks we're crazy or delusional or something. It feels like she thinks we're too demanding or expecting too much. That's fine, but we're not buying a house that will need a new roof in 5 years, that my friend just ain't happening...unless you show us some money...
Oh and THANK YOU all so much for the birthday wishes, I really appreciate it. And on a total side note...guess who got carded while ordering a drink at dinner last night...this lady!!!
UPDATE: The seller has agreed to put on a whole new roof. Ask and you shall receive... we are SHOCKED and so HAPPY!!!

Pug Friday
Good Friday Morning Everyone....
Sorry I've been a bad blogger these past 2 weeks. Things have been quite hectic for the Jetplanes'. Mr. Jetplane started night flying this week and will continue next week. So my sleep schedule has been put into a 'tail spin', so to speak. Also, work has been kicking my butt recently, and it doesn't appear like its going to let up.
So needless to say, blogging hasn't been on the top of the priority list, and for that I do apologize.
Today's Pug Friday, I think exemplifies how I have felt this week. With all the life chaos (work, AF, move to Idaho, family matters, the kitchen being tiled this week, etc.) I would prefer to just lay down and relax.
And a big thank you for all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers for all those affected by the crash out of Pcola. Mr. Jetplane knew the civilian pilot, he had flown with him on a number of occasions. And to clarify, even though it says he is a civilian, he is a retired Lt. Cmdr. The pilots of that training aircraft are generally high ranking retirees. The training that is being conducted is for the navigators, that is also why there were 2 students on board. The instructor switches off between the two students.
Its yet another tragedy in our aviation community. Its very sad, but it is reminder that life is short. We need to enjoy it to the fullest and never forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. My husband never leaves this house (no matter the time) without a hug and kiss, a be safe, and I love you. We never know when it could be our last.

2009...Can't Say I'm Sad to see YOU go...
Wow!!! 2009 was a hell of a year, full of really high highs and really low lows. I had the best of intentions putting together a fabulous post full of pictures and details of our year.

But then I have to admit that I am lazy (something I plan to work on in 2009) and then I got a little depressed about 2009 and stopped. Then I restarted and the stopped... also a running theme for 2009.
So I decided to leave you with pictures from our year and little bits of info here and there.
Unfortunately these are not in chronological order...accept my apologies...

Hit up ATL for the wedding of one of my lovely friends and bridesmaid, Lou. We had a wonderful time, and I drank way to much. Someone may have mounted a statue in the lobby, there were pictures but my computer crashed and those were lost.
We went up to Chicago for a long weekend. Visited friends and attending a Cubs v. Cards game.
I ran into this HOT MESS outside the Cubby Bear... i.e. what not to wear to a Cubs game. FYI it was cold that day.
I ran into this HOT MESS outside the Cubby Bear... i.e. what not to wear to a Cubs game. FYI it was cold that day.
Mr. Jetplane became SCUBA certified and we learned to sail (I attempted to learn how to sail)
The Jetplanes moved to NC and Mr. started flying in the F15e.
Oh and we BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! And I started working from home.

This year has been filled with a lot of heartache too... I lost my step-grandmother (my only grandmother left) and my great aunt. Mr. Jetplane lost his grandmother.
But there is good news. My mother reconstructive surgery was a success and she is recovering nicely.
The 2 weddings I mentioned above...both of those girls are pregnant one due this month and the other due in May.
Its been a year of ups and downs...
What's up for 2010? Hopefully alittle more of this...

And this...
Happy New Year!! My 2010 Plan is forth coming...

Long Ass Day
I'm currently sitting at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. My mother is having her reconstructive surgery from her double mastectomy. The surgery will last 12 - 14 hours. She will be having her top 2 abdominal muscles removed and those will replace the breast tissue that was removed. All positive thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Before we left the hospital this morning, my mom gave me her wedding ring, its currently on my middle finger of my right hand. Its a very weird feeling to be wearing my mom's ring. It strange to look down and see it on my hand.
Oh and to top it all I am sick as a dog. I started getting sick yesterday evening and woke up this morning at 5am and couldn't breathe and could hardly swallow. I've taken some meds and drank 3 cups of hot tea...I'm finally starting to feel alittle better but still look like a hot mess...
But enough about me....
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers for my mother and family.... I deeply appreciate each and everyone of you. The kindness of strangers is amazing... love you all.

Its All Happening...
This working from home is stuff is all good. Yes, I have been talking about this with my boss for probably 18 months but honestly until we sat down and had a real honest to goodness talk about bills, logistics, etc. it didn't feel free. It felt like this was something that could be taken away, we have nothing in writing to hold them to it or anything.
But we had a good but very brief meeting. I had a conf call to get to and we were both running late to the meeting due to work.
So we met and discussed that I will take with me my computer, 2 monitors (I work from dual monitors, once you try it you can't live without it), office chair, large write on wipe off board, and all my office supplies. They are going to set up and pay for my phone line and Internet. They will buy my printer/scanner/fax/copier and phone with headset. (Yes I wear a headset, once again, once you start using one you can't stop, I'm on the phone literally 3/4 of the day.)
He asked me about a desk, but I want to keep my desk so I will be buying that.
Speaking of which I have located a new white desk that is very similar to the PB and Target versions I like. It is a little more than Target but still less than PB. I refuse to spend over $700 on the PB desk and that doesn't even include shipping. I'll discuss the new desk once its ordered. I'm having it shipped to the store and hopefully I'll have some people help me go pick it up and save myself about $120.
Thanks for all your support on this desk situation, I appreciate it.
Finally, spoke with Mr. this morning, today at survival school is top secret. Someone ran his smart ass mouth yesterday and had to write a 500 word paper about the plants he could eat. I guess he was joking with one of the other guys that got in trouble for forgetting to bring some of his gear to class. The instructor gave him the essay initially. Mr. Jetplane told him that it wouldn't be that difficult and he should be able to bang it out in about an hour. The instructor said, "Oh yeah Lt., well then you can do it too..."
So he did... he said, "Well I needed to learn this stuff anyway."
My husband will forever and always be a smart ass.
Happy Thursday to you all... I am meeting up with a fellow blogger for lunch today and I'm very excited... but us mysterious bloggers won't give you all any details.

Blog-o-versary!

YEAH!!! Leaving and Loving Turns 1 Year Old Today!!!
Due to my chaotic schedule with Mr. Jetplane, dog issues, upcoming Vegas trip, Lake Vacay, Friends coming into town, work kicking my ass, New House, and Moving.... I almost totally missed that TODAY is my 1 year blog anniversary.
Its astonishing to me that
#1 I have stuck with this blog.
#2 People read this blog.
#3 People actually like this blog and keep reading it.
I want to tell you all how much our 'invisible' friendships mean to me. You are all so wonderful, caring, and helpful. I started this blog at a time when I was preparing for Mr. Jetplane and I to be apart for 6 months. This blog and you fantastic ladies helped me get through that time and have helped me everyday since.
I appreciate you all more than you'll ever be able to know. Mr. Jetplane doesn't understand this new love of blogging and he doesn't understand how I can be so absorbed into the lives of other people that I don't even know. But I am and its okay with me.
The military wife life can get lonely, especially when all of your friends have left the base that you're at, or when all the women around you suck and you don't want to hang out with them. This blog and your 'invisible' friendships have gotten me through the day.

So Thank You all! I have a small token of my gratitude that will be in a giveaway for next week. So stay tuned.
Love you all.... Thank you for listening to my complaints, putting up with my pug love, and helping me through my irrational fears about getting pregnant.

With All Our Love,
The Jetplanes

Odds and Ends
First things first, Milo is okay. Thank you all for your kind words and emails, I'm an overbearing puppy mama I know.

Looks like he sprained his paw, if that is even possible. He's on some pain meds and doing a lot better. He's quite a funny pug running around at top speed on 3 legs. But it was sad watching him try to figure out on to pee on things when he couldn't put pressure on his left hind leg. But he figured it out.
We're gonna watch him for 5 days, and if needed we'll take him back for Xrays.
We do have exciting news at the Jetplanes household, but I'm not ready or able to get into it fully due to my workload and wanting to spend time with Mr. Jetplane since he was gone for over 4 days. But that news is coming...
In other news... Mr. Jetplane turns 29 tomorrow. Yeah! Now he can stop calling me his older woman and a cougar all the time. He finds it very funny since I am a whole month and 6 days older than him.

And after the fiasco that was my birthday, if you recall, I have made it a point to let him know that I purchased his bday gift well in advance. Eventhough I forgot to wrap it this weekend. Shhh...its hid in my dress closet in the workout room/bedroom. He doesn't go into that closet, yes I have a closet that I keep my old work suits and dresses in, yes I have a problem, yes I'm looking to deal with it.
Anyway, I'll discuss what the gift is tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday all! Gotta get back to work.

Short and Sweet
Thank you for the advice on the dress. I do love it and the dupioni silk that its made out of. I know I keep getting mixed opinions on whether or not to wear it. I'll be honest I don't even know if she's wearing white... she's very, lets say... nontraditional, which is totally 100% fine.
I understand the rules about wearing white to a wedding but I wanted to get everyone's opinion on it. But it is Vegas and a non-traditional wedding so... I'll keep you updated.
One more point, she is already is my sister in law, its Mr. Jetplane's sister. She is 4 yrs younger than us (same age as my bro). I don't believe she is 'knocked up' as some have asked. Her and her fiance have been together for several years and engaged for maybe 2 or more years.
Yes, they visited and stayed at our house not that long ago. While it wasn't as bad as I anticipated, I am trying really hard to understand where she is coming from. We're very different in our thought process and the way we do things, so its difficult for me to accept some things that she says and does sometimes. We were raised very differntly.

I'm back... as much as I can be...
We arrived back in Florida early this morning and we both have to work today.
Its going to be a long day, that's for sure.
Its been a very hard past few days, but with Mr. Jetplane by my side, it made it all a little easier. He wasn't going to go with me, because of Charlie and his new job he had to start on Monday. After much tears, and a little yelling he was in the car for the 10 hour journey to my Midwestern hometown. All of that is a story for another time, but one I think could be worth telling.
Anyway, funerals bring out the best and the worst in people and this occasion was no different. I come from a very blended and slightly crazy family and that makes for chaos in situations like this.
And to make everything a little worse, my Grandma R passed away the day before the anniversary of my Grandma N (13 years), my mom's mom. Her death 13 years ago, during my junior year of high school, changed my life forever. But that too, my fine readers is another story for another day.
Grandma R was a wonderful lady, that was full of life, sass, and was NEVER at a loss for words. She told you exactly how she felt, and that was that. She will be greatly missed.
Thank you all again for all the lovely thoughts and prayers. All are greatly appreciated. Now that Mr. Jetplane is home, he's really trying to get a hold of and understand this whole blogging thing... I received a package in the mail from a lovely blogger and I tried to explain to him why, and he looked at me like I had a 3rd eye... Oh well, in due time he'll understand it...
XOXO

Reuniting... and it feels so good... or atleast it will

Thank you all so much for all the good vibes. He passed, but with the delay at the squadron they didn't get done in time to have their graduation ceremony today. So they are having it tomorrow morning 8:30am, which means he can't hit the road back home to P'cola until at least 10am. We had hoped he'd be home a little before I got home from work. But, its ok because he is going to be home tomorrow night. I can't believe it and I'm so excited.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who have become my friends and given me an outlet to bitch, brag, and express my feelings about everything in the life of the Jetplanes no matter how trivial the things have been.

I promise to keep up with blogging, but it may not be as much for a little bit. Commenting might be a little low for a couple of weeks.
And before I forget... THANK YOU so much for all the lovely ladies who have recently (or not so recently) gave me awards. I'm sorry I haven't blogged out them, but I greatly appreciate them and you for giving them to me. I'm so glad that someone out there enjoys reading and keeping up with my crazy and some what lame life.
XOXO to you all...

You are SO Random...
Good Morning Y'all (wait I'm not southern... living down here is rubbing off on me....)
I was recently tagged by Mrs. Not-so-Domesticated....
The rules of the tag are as follows:
1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.
So let the randomness that is my life begin....
1. The Mr. and I met on Match.com, and he always jokes that we need to get our own TV ad.
2. I don't have relationship with my "real" dad. My parents separated when I have 5, and my 'real' dad has been less than great for most of my life. The last time I spoke to him (well at him more likely) was when I was 18 in court.
3. I'm messy and I hate cleaning. My room and closet are generally messy. The Mr. hates it. I'm not dirty, just messy. I keep the living room, kitchen, (all main living area clean and tidy) but I hate picking up after myself. The Mr. won't let me get a cleaning lady right now. But when we have kids, it is most definitely happening...
4. I have a love of Techno Music. I started in college, and it sticks with me until today. I love working out to techno music. The Mr. loves it. It obviously made an appearance at the wedding. I bought 5 packs of glow sticks at the Dollar Store. I busted them out, as a total joke. But the joke was on me because then everyone jumped onto the dance floor and everyone wanted one. It was hilarious.
5. I didn't have my 1st real kiss until I was 14. My mom re-married and we moved to a new town. I attended a small, Catholic school from 1-8th grade and never had a real kiss on the lips. We moved and I went to a big, scary public school. (not that big only 800 people, but it was HUGE to me.) Within 2 weeks of starting school, I had my first date and my first kiss at festival in town. I was like... "wow is this what public school is like..."
6. I went to college to be a Speech Pathologist. I changed majors at the end of my Sophomore year. I graduated with a Business Marketing major. And I graduated in 4 years with a ridiculous number of credits. My parents told me anything over 4 years, I had to pay for myself, talk about some motivation.
I need to tag 6 random people.... but I'm going to tag everyone... so ha ha you're all IT....
And a big THANK YOU to you all for the kind words about the Jetplanes hitting the 6 month mark. It is tough being apart, but I don't want to throw myself too big of a pity party. There are so many wives that haven't seen their husband in 6 months, and he is in a war zone. My sadness and loneliness doesn't begin to compare to theirs. I keep reminding myself that I need to keep it all in perspective.

Me and the Mr. Love you Honey. Thanks again guys... Love you all!

Thank you's all around
I talked to my mom a couple of times tonight, she sounded very tired and a little drugged up, but everything seems to be okay, well as ok, as it can be.
I wanted to say thank you all again for all the support I've received this past couple of days. Its truly amazing how much strangers can prop you up in a time like this. I've felt like I'm kinda on an island to myself here, with living 10 hours away from home and the Mr. in Texas, its been great to feel the support from you all.
And a HUGE thank you to Gwen from Confession of a Control Freak. She has a wonderful blog and I love reading all the sweet comments she leaves me. I'm also so happy that her beloved cat is back home where he belongs. She bestowed upon me my 2nd award, and its too cute for words.
You have to pass it on to 5 other fabulous blogs in a post.
1. Muffy - I love reading her blog, and I can't wait to learn all about her upcoming wedding plans.
2. Some Like it Southern - She's become my new blogging friend. And I excited to see her upcoming lil baby.
3. Nina - I find her blog to be funny, informative, and I know we all can't wait till she's back on the Internet. I also can't believe that we're both from the area. It truly is a small, small world.
4. Chic Runner - I've just started keeping up with her blog, and have enjoyed all her comments she leaves me. I wish deep down I was a runner.... unfortunately as I've said before, I am not.
5. Dugout Daisy - I love hearing her talk about how much she adores Twilight. I'm so jealous she's already seen it.
You have to list 5 of your fabulous addictions in the post.
1. I'm addicted to shopping, shopping for anything. I love to buy clothes, shoes, dog toys, food, cleaning products, flowers.... you name it I enjoy buying it.
2. I'm addicted to television. Project Runway, Top Chef, Grey's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, and the list goes on.
3. I'm addicted to caffeine, but I don't drink coffee. I will admit that I have drastically cut down my intake in the past 2 years. But I do have to have 1 caffeine drink a day, or I get a headache. I drink a Sugar Free Red Bull almost every morning while sitting at my office.
4. I'm addicted to Banana Republic. And BR sending my coupons every month for $10 to $20 off as a thank you for putting some damage onto my BR Luxe card, doesn't help.
5. I'm addicted to shoes and cardigans. I love shoes. I love cardigans. I don't even know how many I have. Its a problem.

Update!
Well first things first, you can see I have gotten a face lift this afternoon.... More to come on that later. Thanks Krystyn!!
My mom is out of surgery and everything looks good. The surgeon said that there were no surprises and she's in recovery. My step-dad and brother should get to see her in about 45 minutes. She'll be released late tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated.
Thank you again for the outpouring of love and support, I GREATLY appreciate it.
xoxo - Mrs. Jetplane (that's my new name!!, love it)

Today everything seems too real
"A woman is like a tea bag, you can not tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water."
I spoke to my mom this morning at 6am before she headed into the hospital. They stayed the night a the hotel associated with the cancer center. She was in good spirits.
I hate that I'm not there, but will be there next week.
Thank you all so much for you prayers, support, and kind words. She has surgery at 8:30 this morning, and it should take 4-6 hours.
