Mama Jetplane in the House...

Mama Jetplane flew out Idaho on Saturday and we've been having a great time. My mom is quite a hard worker and we've gotten a lot accomplished so far.

We've planted my vegetable garden, some flowers, removed a large portion of wood chips on the side of the house, removed all my kitchen cabinet doors, and gotten a coat of primer on it all.

I've taken today and tomorrow off so we're gonna get to it.

Gotta love this picture below. It was taken for our church directory back in probably 1985 or 1986. I believe I was in 1st grade and FYI I adored the outfit I was wearing. It was my favorite at the time. That would make me 5 or 6, my lil brother 1 or 2 and my mama 25 or 26. She was divorced from my father, a single working mom, supporting her 2 small kids, providing a private school education for me, and putting me in dance classes, brownies, and everything else. She is quite an amazing woman. So was my grandmother that help us out a lot during this time.

I love my mama a lot and I appreciate her coming out here. She's going to be here for 10 whole days....just us girls...well and the dogs aka her grandbabies. But what's hilariously (I don't think that's a word) funny...I feel like I'm living with a teenager. She isn't getting up until 11 o'clock. On Sunday I went it to make sure she was alive...at Noon. My mom never sleeps that late, at least I never knew her to sleep that late. She's always complaining about her lack of sleep so I'm glad she's getting all that rest while she's here.

Love you Mama...

What up Idaho...

We are here... well we've been here since July 8th. Alot has happened since we last 'spoke'.

Mr. Jetplane began a Captain and turned the big 3-0.
We bought our 2nd house and we love it. It honestly feels like we live on a compound. It has a veggie garden and the sellers planted everything before they moved out.
We have already started a little demo and remodeling.

Oh and we already have our first house guests...and we don't even have all our belongings yet...truck comes tomorrow!

Heading to my 1st coffee tonight to meet all ladies in the squadron.

Hello Idaho the Jetplanes are here!!!!!

P.S. Thank you for all the Twitter love while we were traveling. I'm going to try to do a post about the trip later next week.

XOXO

Hello there...

Sorry I've been MIA lately. The Jetplanes have way too much going on right now between the huge amount of work I have and our upcoming move, needless to say its crazy. Its so crazy that I haven't done Pug Friday lately, and I ALWAYS do Pug Friday.

Mr. Jetplane is currently in Idaho for the week training. He was supposed to be there on Friday and get to look at the houses I like on Saturday. Unfortunately he had a pressurization issue with the jet and had to turn around and come back home. He left early Sunday morning with the rest of the squadron. He's a busy bee out there and with the time difference its hard to get to talk to him :(

Hopefully he has a lil time to make to the houses today or Thursday.

In other news, we have a rental contract on our house here in NC. We listed it and literally had 1 viewing within 24 hrs and they wanted it!! That is such a huge relief, we had budgeted/prepared to carry the mortgage for a couple of months, if we needed to. So glad we don't have to!!

We are heading to Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend, and I am sooo excited. We both love Vegas, I mean what's not to love, right? Well...dry heaving into a paper cup in a limo with no air conditioning sitting next to your MIL heading to your SIL's wedding in 4" heels having shoved a potentially broken foot into them from a fall in the middle of the MGM (honest I was sober at that point)...well maybe that wasn't a day I'd like to relive...

But Vegas Baby Vegas!!! Yes perhaps the visions of our upcoming trip is getting me through this crazy time at work and me missing the Mr. while he's gone...

Wackadoo Wednesday

Hello there... Anyone else flipping out this week? Or is it just me?

Work is insanely busy, probably the busiest its ever been and I am flying out to Idaho on Friday. Yeah, great time to take 2 days off...in the heat of EVERYTHING!!! But alas, it must be done. So today's post is...well...scattered to say the least...the very least.

1. This came out yesterday. And I am pissed that I am too busy to read it all right now. But happy that I might be able to save some of it for the trip to Idaho.

2. My dress arrived yesterday evening...with an ink pen stain on it. So back it has to go and guess what...its BACK ORDERED until 5/21. SWEET!!!! Luckily graduation isn't until June 11th. Look who was planning ahead for once...this gal!
3. Our property management company is coming out to look at our house today. They are getting pictures and evaluating the house to make sure we are pricing the rent correctly. They are trying to get us to list the house...not in this market. We'll see in a year where we stand and where the market stands. We saw this house as an investment, so we're not really interested in selling for a few years.
4. Since I'm going out to Idaho this week, I felt it only natural to listen to the Crazy Heart Soundtrack on repeat. I can just tell you, if I wasn't married to Mr. Jetplane, Ryan Bingham would have to watch out. I love that man's voice with a passion. Don't take my word for it.... take a listen...and a look!

Happy Hump Day... and Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

Its the Monday before Christmas & all through the house...

Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.... HAHAHAHA

The mouse is back y'all...and its fat as hell. Someone may have had an encounter with it this weekend. I screamed and yelled, attempted to beat it with a broom, and scared the crap out of my dogs...

I was yelling at the dogs..."Its a mouse...Its a mouse damn it... get it!"

They looked at mama like she had lost her damn mind, swinging a broom, and jumping around and in and out of the pantry like a crazy person.

I don't get it...these dogs will chase bugs, birds, whatever...where are animal instincts when you need them...

Well you can find there lazy butts on the couch...that is when dad's not home!!!

For those of you keeping score - Mrs. Jetplane 0 Mouse 2.

To be completely honest, I think this is a new mouse, we were mouse free for 2 months or so. We live out in the country and its not uncommon for mice around here we've been told. I cleaned out pantry and didn't find any holes where he could be coming in. I think he might be coming in from the laundry room, but still haven't figured out where...

Hopefully he didn't bring any friends....

We have a mouse in our house. I thought I saw him early Saturday morning while I was sitting in the living room. I saw something, a small dark shadow out of the corner of my eye, scurry across the kitchen floor. I told Mr. Jetplane, who was still asleep, and he didn't believe me.

So the entire day and night goes on without incident. I am sitting in the living room, cozy and comfy, in my leather chair playing on the computer and watching Inside the NFL and I a see a lil mouse run in front of the fireplace and into the closet. My ever close watch dogs (Milo & Charlie) are passed out on the couch, snoring, and not paying attention at all.

I run upstairs to tell Mr. Jetplane...we have a mouse... I knew I wasn't making this up. He then asks me what do I want him to do about it.... Catch the damn thing!

We tried and were unsuccessful. (I may have been standing onto of the coffee table) The dogs are deathly afraid of the broom for some reason so they were not a help at all. They ran into the bedroom and hid. The mouse is still in this house and looks like I'm going to be buying some traps today.

I haven't had a mouse in my house since I lived with my parents in the country...and then we had a cat... I guess I have found the one bad thing about living in BFE surrounded by tobacco, wheat, cotton, and corn fields...

My REAL Man...

I'll admit before I met Mr. Jetplane I dated a lot of guys....ok dated might be a strong word, but you get the point. I dated a lot of different types of guys some were most definitely boys, one had a better shoe collection than I did, one had better hair than I did, some were assholes (pardon the bad language) and some were just toolboxes. But I am happy to report that Mr. Jetplane...to quote R. Zoe...shuts it down!!!

He's a guy's guy and he enjoys doing guy things...thank the Lord. He is all about building things, digging in the dirt, mowing the yard, lifting heavy objects, and killing bugs. You don't really know how great that is until they are gone for 6 months at training (or deployment) and realize that you are going to have to find a way to do it yourself (or pay someone or beg your big strong neighbor).

I realized this last night while I was watching Mr. Jetplane mow the backyard. I was being the good wife and reheating leftovers for our dinner in the kitchen. He's a good man and I probably don't tell him enough.

So to honor Mr. Jetplane (my HERO) today... and his day off before the B Course starts and I don't see him until 10pm every night during the week...

I love you Mr.

Casa de Jetplane in the makin'

So first off, thank you all for your support during my recent 'I suck at this' post about our work on our first home. I greatly appreciate it.

I appreciated it even more when I got a comment from Mrs. Limestone, who is a HUGE inspiration to me, as seen in my home office decor.

We all have trials and tribulations dealing with decorating our homes. Trying to determine what our style is and how to mold that into our partner's style, current home furnishings, lifestyle, budget, pets, kids, etc. etc. etc. Its always good to feel you are not alone in that battle.

A lot has been happening at the Jetplanes' household and I'm pretty excited to give you some details later this week with pictures. But just a lil taste of what's to come...

1. Deck is stained
2. Garage is organized and sealed the floor
3. New Furniture is purchased and arrived
4. Front Yard is almost completed

I think that's pretty good for living here under a month so far, don't you?

Side note: We see this house, while a first house for us, as an investment and will be a future rental property when we get stationed somewhere else. All decisions made (excluding painting my office turquoise) are to be cost effective, value adding, and easily maintainable for future renters.
Can't wait to give you all a peek...

Now we're WORKING....

Hello all... and welcome to my home office. 1st things 1st, we aren't completely done here. The shelves aren't organized properly and I still need to hang other things on the wall. I also still have to find something to put my printer on. But I wanted to post a couple of pictures.

This is the view from the door. I'm a little disappointed that the color isn't showing up quite as bright as it does in person. I selected Weathered Glass from Eddie Bauer at Lowe's. Please ignore the mass wires, we're still working on that. Can you spot a lil puggie?

On the wall is actually an art piece I did myself. They are all pieces of cards that we received from our wedding. We had tons of cards and I was saving them for some reason. I wanted to make something out of them but I couldn't figure out what.
I used an exacto knife and cut strips, lots and lots of strips. Then did a basket weave with them them and glued them to canvas. It might not be for everyone, but I love it.

And I lil more pug had to get in there....

I'm not finished, but I'm at a good stopping point for a couple of weeks. I still need curtains and to hang more pictures.

Jetplanes' BIG News!

Okay! First, NOOOOO Mrs. Jetplane isn't knocked up. But thanks for playing....

Here is the news...

We're buying a house! We put an offer in yesterday and it was accepted in record time, which we think means we should have asked for more...but oh well. We got all of the closing costs, all the appliances, a fence, gas logs, and several other odd and ends.

We're excited and scared to death all at the same time. The house is brand new and we're having the builder finish the bonus room upstairs before we move in next month. Its been a whirlwind. If you follow my twitter, you would have read the emotional roller coaster I've been on with this living situation.

Is this house our dream house...NO. Its our FIRST home. We look at it as an investment and we will rent it out once we leave North Carolina.

Okay...I'm going to go throw up now... We close on August 26th. They have to make some changes to the front porch, put up the fence, and finish the bonus room prior to inspection. But everyone assures us it will be done. Crossing finger and toes....

Holy Crap, we're buying a house...

Free at Last...

The Jetplanes house guests left this morning. I was in the shower, so I didn't get to say good bye, but Mr. Jetplane assures me that they said "thanks". He spent the next 30 minutes cleaning house before he left to work out.... he's quite a man, that man of mine. love him...

We tried to go out to eat last night to a Thai place but we found out its closed on Mondays, is that weird?

Moving on.... Mrs. Jetplane is swearing off shopping for the rest of the month because her commission report for March was craptastic to say the least.... the very least. It was bad.... My commission is based upon my accounts billings for the month and the clients payments for the month. My billings look fairly normal right now, but my payments are LOW... anyway, I have stop spending money... which sucks because I have great BR coupons burning a hole in my pocket and Mrs. Nonsense posted her BR shopping spree and I want that shift dress she bought... (this is me stomping around....)

Anyway, I have a couple random thoughts that I wanted to throw out there for people....

1. Is it weird to salt food before even tasting it? It could be salty already right? How do you know it 'needs' salt?

2. Did anyone watch the Hills? What's wrong with LC's makeup at her party? Heidi and LC should win an Emmy for their 'performance'. Spencer and his flesh covered beard, looks to have parted ways....

3. Has anyone heard of Berry Wine? We drove to 4 different stores looking for Berry Wine... The only berry wine I know is Boone's Farm, but I was told that's not it. They finally found some Blueberry Merlot at the Winn Dixie liquor store, I chose not to drink it.

Happy Tuesday... and a big THANK YOU to all your support these last few days. XOXO

Greetings from a tired Mrs. Jetplane

Well, Monday morning never seemed as sweet...

I'm tired, really tired, but things are going ok. By ok, I mean 10000x better than I expected, but not great. We're all very different people with very different personalities.

They are on vacay.... I am not...
They are 24-25 yrs old.... I am not...
They smoke a pack a day... I do not...
They enjoy drinking...alot... I do not...

I'll admit I went into this situation with a very negative attitude and I'm most definitely not the glass half full type of gal... if you ever thought Mrs. Jetplane was Mrs. Positivity... sorry to disappoint, I'm sooo not. I know it, accept it, even though Mr. Jetplane does his best to take me away from the dark side, he can't. Anyway...

The point is... when I stay at someone else's house (excluding my parents) I act a certain way, I'm on my best behavior. I treat people stuff a certain way. And I ask... is there anything I can do... here let me help you empty the dishwasher... here let me take out the trash... oh please let me help you empty the grocery bags from the car... Yeah that's common sense right?

Well obviously not because someone doesn't do that. I made dinner last night, a large pasta dish, chicken, and garlic bread. I got a mmmm... this is good... Not one "thank you". Hello? They didn't even help clear the table.

We played a game on Friday night... On purpose, I didn't pick it up, just to see how long they would leave it out.... 3pm Sunday.... come on people...

Okay, enough... deep breaths... they are leaving tomorrow.... and someone may work late tonight...

Thanks again for all your support, you guys are the best...
XOXO

I bit the bullet

I bought some Xmas decorations. I know, I know, I held it in, but I went to Target this week to take a look at the decorations. I held off a lot of them, but saw these stockings and had to buy them. They match the new color scheme I'm going for and I had to have them. I bought one for me and one for the Mr. I'm thinking about looking for M & C for the doggies too, but we'll see.

I also stopped by Michaels and bought a couple of things that were on sale. A lot of their decor is 40-50% and the Xmas ribbon is 50% off. I also picked up some pumpkins to paint off-white for 70% off. I refused to pay full price for those puppies.

I hope to do some crafting this week or weekend and I'll keep you posted.

The Hubby's favorite Wedding Gift

When it came to registering for gifts, the Hubby was somewhat excited to get to use the scanner but 20 minutes into looking at China patterns, he decided that he hated the whole idea.

#1 He preferred to go home.

#2 He thought we didn't need all this stuff.

#3 He thought who the hell is going to buy us this stuff.

I kindly yet firmly let him know....

#1 I'll take you out to dinner after this.

#2 You don't even know what we have. Plus, most of the stuff is from my college days and its starting to look nasty.

#3 My parents are inviting a crap load of people, they buy gifts. Also, our friends are 27-30yrs old, they have good jobs, we're not asking for ridiculous expensive items. Plus, we can come back and buy stuff at a discount.

Okay, crisis somewhat averted but, still DRAMA city.... We moved fast and furiously, and I said I'd come back myself and do it. Ended up doing the rest online.

We registered at 4 places - BBY, Pottery Barn, Macys, & Lowes. Brent only went to BBY but I let him register at Lowe's online. I learn from my mistakes. But I did show him everything we were registering for, and registered for some items I knew he'd love.

His favorite gift is this single serving coffee maker.

First, we didn't have a coffee maker in our house. #1 I don't drink coffee and #2 he didn't drink it regularly and he like various types of foamy coffee drinks so he buys them at Starbucks on base.

Well, since we have bought this Starbucks no longer. He loves it and all the different drinks you can make. I love the Hot Chocolate, he tried to get me to like the Chai Latte but to me it tasted like a Thanksgiving Candle....

Word to the wise, if you do buy this machine. You can buy most of the beverage discs from Walmart (except in Columbus, MS Brent found out). They are A LOT cheaper than BBY and Linens n Things. But I did have a couple of 20% coupons so I did buy some. FYI - Starbucks does make the discs for the machine as well.

My lil Boys...

I have become the kind of woman that talks about her pets as if they were her children. I suppose that's because they are my children.

This weekend, they've been very lazy.... along with the mama.

Milo thinks that he is a human and likes to sit at the kitchen table. Last night while I was eating/watching TV he was busy manning the backyard from the kitchen.

Milo also has an affinity for plastic bags. I had came home with some new pillows for the bed and he proceeded to rip the plastic bags off of them when I wasn't looking and run around the house at top speed.

And Charlie for his part, chased Milo and then took the pillow that was getting the heav ho, decided that the floor was not comfortable enough...

What the Hell?

So I'm watching today's Oprah, its about the recession and people that are in debt. Right now, she's talking to people that are $90k in debt and have 29 freaking credit cards.

Ok America, what the hell is wrong with this picture? I am 28 years old, I've done pretty well for myself over the past 6 years since I graduated college. But here's the kicker.... I have never been able to get a credit card. People that are in debt, get credit cards. People like me, that never had a credit card, no student loans, no car loans, no debt.... guess what... no credit for you. You're undesirable... You have insufficient credit history. People, I've been turned down for a Victoria Secret card.

Brent, my financial planner that he is, has been helping me try to build credit. My mom co-signed for my car loan, I even took out a small loan and paid it back over a 2 period of time just purely to generate some credit. Its been tough. I've had to buy furniture out right, we're talking a couple thousand bucks. I had to pay double deposits for things. Its totally sucked people. Luckily, my 1st job out of college I had a company car so all my bills were paid out of my 1st paycheck of the month. My 2nd job, I got large quarterly bonuses that I could save for those large purchases. And now, I get a monthly commission.

I will say over the past couple years I've slowly built some credit. I got a Banana Republic card and I was thrilled when I was able to get a Sears card to buy my elliptical machine with. But that's it. (I recently closed the Sears card.)

But the best thing about getting married was truly getting credit. My husband Brent has fabulous credit, and he actually put me on one of his credit cards for wedding purchases. And I'm now paying it off.

So here's my main question, and a major discussion that Brent and I had over dinner this past weekend.... how did it get THIS bad. What were people thinking.... especially people that bought houses they could never afford, getting 20 credit cards, buying new cars.... I'm just so confused....

Now they are saying that getting loans for the next couple of years is going to be extremely tough. Brent and I are planning on buying a house when we move to NC. This all makes me nervous, luckily by that time we should have saved a healthy down payment but we will also have a VA loan if we need it.
