Long Ass Day

I'm currently sitting at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. My mother is having her reconstructive surgery from her double mastectomy. The surgery will last 12 - 14 hours. She will be having her top 2 abdominal muscles removed and those will replace the breast tissue that was removed. All positive thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Before we left the hospital this morning, my mom gave me her wedding ring, its currently on my middle finger of my right hand. Its a very weird feeling to be wearing my mom's ring. It strange to look down and see it on my hand.
Oh and to top it all I am sick as a dog. I started getting sick yesterday evening and woke up this morning at 5am and couldn't breathe and could hardly swallow. I've taken some meds and drank 3 cups of hot tea...I'm finally starting to feel alittle better but still look like a hot mess...
But enough about me....
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers for my mother and family.... I deeply appreciate each and everyone of you. The kindness of strangers is amazing... love you all.

Sending positive thoughts your way!
I have actually been in your position before. It was so hard to wait through the surgery, and to see my mom afterward. But she got through it with flying colors and it brought us closer together than we ever were before. May it do the same for you both.
Feel better quickly!
I will be thinking about you and your mother today. I hope you feel better soon.
I will be praying for your mom today!
Hope you start to feel a lot better too!
Oh sweetie, this must be so tough. I hope your mom does well and you start feeling better really soon!
Keeping your mom in my prayers. Here's hoping for a speedy, safe surgery!
And hope you feel better soon!!
Praying for both you and your mom. Feel better soon and please let us know how she is doing when surgery is done. XOXO

I hope you feel better too!
I will definitely pray for your mom! And I hope you feel better soon, too!
Praying for your mom and your fam! Hope the day goes by quickly and things turn out good for both of you. xoxo

Praying for your mom. Keep us posted on how she's doing!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. I hope all goes well and your Mom makes a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself too and feel better soon.
Seriously have you on my mind and heart today. Feel better and make sure to take care of yourself so you can better take care of your momma. Like I said, if you need ANYTHING, I'm minutes away.
Thinking good thoughts for you and your Mom!
Hey I just stumbled on your blog, from my google alerts at work. (I work at the hospital you are currently visiting) I felt compelled to comment because 1. I have a pug too and love all things pug :) and 2. I live very close to an AFB.
For more info on Siteman's mammography position, pick up an issue of BJC Today in newstands around Siteman's campus. (I know there's one in the lobby by the bathrooms/ATM on the first floor if you are wandering around.) Hope your mom's surgery goes well.
I hope everything went really well today, and that your mother has a speedy recovery. What a strong woman!
Thinking of you all today!
Hi,
Regular reader, not so regular commenter, just wanted you to know I'll be holding your mom - and you - in my prayers.
All the best,
Jennifer
You're in my prayers. :-)
I hope your mom had a successful surgery. I'll say a little prayer for her. :-)
I'll be thinking of you and your mom today! I hope everything has went smoothly.
Sending you hugs and positive thoughts!
Praying for your mom AND you! Feel better :)
Sending you and your mom my prayers and lots of good thoughts!
You're in my prayers, along with your mom, Mrs. Jet Plane. I hope she has a speedy recovery, and also hope you're feeling better.
Thinking about you and your mom... Hope everything is going well
Praying.. Please keep us updated...
Sending good vibes to you and your Mum! Hard enough to deal with when you're not crook as a dog - get well soon!
Breast cancer sucks the big one, but at least more and more people are surviving it. I've been surrounded by breast cancer - aunties, mother-in-law, best friends mothers, hell, my Nanna had it 4 times!
Of all of them, we only lost one - she found out in the late stages and it was many years ago (plus my Nan recently, but that almost 20 years after she was first diagnosed and liver cancer ended up her sentence - she was 84 though!). Tough road darl! Lots of good vibes heading your way!
I hope everything went well and you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving in STL! Saturday the weather was gorgeous, so hopefully you all were able to enjoy it.
