What's in a name...

To quote Shakespeare...which I regularly do by the way...

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Well Mr. Jetplane sure isn't Juliet and we sure aren't talking about the Montagues and Capulets here on today's blog. So what are we talking about? Mr. Jetplane got his call sign on Friday.

He drunk himself into a stupor and his call sign is Contra.
Yes this may come to mind...

But it will also mean CONstantly TRAsmitting..which in plain (non aviator) speak means...constantly talking or aka Mr. Jetplane never shuts up...which is true.

He drank off the first call sign, which he didn't like and was probably a joke anyway. They do it on purpose so they'll want to drink it off, and therefore get drunk. I went to the squadron to pick him up at 10:30pm which he asked me to in a drunked phone call I received at 9:30pm...just to find out that someone else was already driving him home...

Yes that's awkward walking into a cigar and alcohol filled squadron bar with a bunch of drunkards, in what was technically your pajamas looking for your drunk as hell husband...the commander kindly spoke with me and apologized for any confusion. No worries I wasn't mad, just slightly annoyed.

I walked into the house to find Mr. Jetplane fully clothed laying face down on the floor in the living room. He then proceed to tell me he needed to throw up. I told him there was a perfectly good bathroom to do this in, but he insisted on doing it in the kitchen sink. After much discussion I then gave in, and said "Fine...but if you are going to throw up in my kitchen sink at least do me a favor and do it on the garbage disposal side" Which he did.

He then proceeded to lay face down in the family room on one of the dog's pillows and sleep it off until the morning...oh yeah I was 1 proud wife :)

Pug Friday - Getting my Drink on...

Hello and Happy Pug Friday Everyone... Today is a BIG day in the Jetplanes' household. Why you ask... well Mr. Jetplane is getting his official call sign tonight.

The ceremony (if you could call it that) is called a naming. Its a big deal and there are traditions, drinking, lots of laughing at our people's expense, more drinking, and then the call signs be given out and voted on. This call sign will be Mr. Jetplane's name.

The naming will commence after work tonight and go into the wee hours of the morning (potentially). Obviously I'll have to go pick up Mr. Jetplane if he doesn't decide to sleep it off at the squadron bar. That's another thing some people might not know. Each squadron has its own bar. It is located in the squadron and its decorated with squadron colors and memorabilia. Its a gathering place to eat, drink, and socialize.

So in honor of the naming...and the drinking tonight...Here is this week's Pug Friday.

Let's pray the call sign isn't too bad and I won't be ashamed of him for the 20 years :)

* To address a question I have been asked alot - Mr has been given callsigns at the various squadrons he's been in during training, but those don't stick. Your callsign doesn't stick until you are in your first operational squadron.

Ring the Alarm...

The MIL is landing this afternoon and staying with the Jetplanes for a few days.

Cue Panic Attack...

The house is pretty clean, except we live in what could be classified as a work site.

I work from home and actually hate when other people are in the house. It makes me jealous and I want to come out and play too :( Its also annoying because no one remembers that I'm on the phone the majority of the day so they don't always use their inside voices...that's a double :(

But its great for Mr. Jetplane to spend some time with his mama before he deploys... which is going to take place most likely in the next 30 days.

Cue 2nd panic attack....

Wish me Luck!!

I've become the WORST type of blogger

The kind that doesn't blog :(

Its upsetting to me, but its become a fact of life at this point. I have a ton to write about but unfortunately zero motivation to do it. I'm sure ever blogger goes through a similar rut. I feel like my rut is life induced. I have a feeling this blog will once again become a refuge for me like it was went I first started.

Right after Mr. Jetplane and I got married we lived apart for almost six months while he attended T-38 school and EWO training. I stayed in Pcola during his stays in MS and TX to continue to work.

I have a strong feeling you'll be seeing me more often in the coming months as we head into the deployment.

So I know its Pug Friday and I have been a very bad blogger so I leave you with a picture of my most favorite puggie....Milo and his (big) lil brother Charlie, my 2 loving companions while Mr. is gone.

Picture was taken before we left Pcola and before I traded in my sweet Jeep Liberty. I loved that ride.
