Sexy Time...

How ironic that I get tagged about feeling sexy the day my husband leaves for 24 days.

The wonderful Mrs. Potts at Experiments in a Gallery Kitchen tagged me and I'm supposed to list 5 things that make me feel sexy.... ooo la la...

The rules go down like this...

- Write 5 things that make you feel sexy
- Post a pic (only IF you dare)
- Pass it on to 5 lovely bloggers

1. Getting all dolled up...dresses, hot heels, full makeup, hot roll my hair, etc.

2. Mr. Jetplane telling me I look hot when I leave for work.

3. Leaving the gym with Mr. Jetplane... being the workout buff he is, he thinks working out is hot. FYI- he loves sports bras...is that weird?

4. Having a good laugh with Mr. Jetplane...we laugh at and with each other ALL the time.

5. Finally I feel sexy when Mr. Jetplane pulls me close and kisses me in public. (we're not big PDA people, and by we're I mean he isn't)
Here's one of my favorite pictures from my boudoir shoot from Oeil Photography that I gave to Mr. Jetplane for his 28th bday the month after our wedding. Hot Right? He had no idea I was doing this and was totally shocked.

I'm passing this onto 5 lovely ladies...

Mrs. Jetplane's Future Home Office

Well Mr. left this morning for WA state and his survival training. He just called they had to divert for weather and are currently in Huntsville, AL. Luckily there are 5 of them heading out there with the same travel arrangements.
Cross your fingers they get there safe and sound.

Now onto the really important stuff.... my future home office. My job is letting me continue from home (at least that's the plan) and I need a fully dedicated home office to continue to be productive. That includes an 'adult' desk and a door...

My first home office out of college, when I was a sales rep for a well-known consumer product company, included a corner of my living/dining area that was directly next to my television. It wasn't so ideal but living in a 1 bedroom apt is never ideal when you get at least 5 boxes of 'crap' delivered to your house every day and you start telling them to just drop them over your balcony and onto your porch.

Here is one of my inspirations for my home office...

The room was found here. I've been dreaming of a turquoise room with white trim for forever.

I'm going with mostly white furniture however I do have to incorporate our already black bookshelves...us Jetplanes love us some books. These shelves are tall and substantial. So I think this good visual to see how the combo could look together.

Here is the desk, its from Target. I'm going to get a piece of plexi glass for the top of it.
Here is the chair, also from Target. I am trying to decide between the white and the black. There is also a lovely mint green color as well that I really love. The desk is white, but it could be a little off white, so I'm concerned about getting the white chair so I'm leaning toward the black, however I adore the mint green....

Anyone else work from home? Have any pointers?

Mr. Jetplane is Leaving Me...

For 3 weeks to go to survival school in Washington State...he leaves tomorrow and returns 4 days before we close on our house...Cue the panic attack!

I miss him already and he hasn't even left yet, is that weird? That being said, while I adore my husband we have been fighting like cats and dogs lately, we're stressed with the upcoming move, me transitioning to working from home, buying a house, etc. etc. So 3 weeks away could do us some good, but I just wish it didn't have to be right now and it didn't include him being out in the wilderness for 3 weeks.

While we can't discuss what this training is (he can't tell me all about it anyway) for those mil wives out there, some of you will know what this is all about.

We should be able to talk for the first week or so, but toward the end we'll have no contact. No, I'm not complaining that my husband will be away for 3 weeks and I can't live without him but, I am complaining because I wish he could be here to help with this move alittle more since I'm going to be working 50+ hours a week at work to ensure that my job is in a good place before we move. I understand it the cross we bare as mil wives so I better suck it up... gotcha...
Will do boss...
Now on a much more serious note. I wanted to take a moment to introduce to another USAF mil wive that some of you may have been familiar with as Southern Prep and some of you may not have been.

I was first introduced to her wedding planning blog last year and felt an instant connection to her.
1. Both young women living in the South.
2. Both planning a wedding on June 7th, 2008.
3. Both having a love of lime green.
4. Both marrying a man in USAF.
5. Both soon to become mil wives.

Her husband David is an EOD guy. On May 11, 2009 while in Afghanistan, he stepped on a land mine. He lost one leg below the knee and severely injured the other. Over the past few months she has blogged about their recovery and it is truly an amazing and inspiring story.

Keep David and Liz in your prayers and never forget that people like David risk their lives everyday to protect our freedom. You can keep up to date with their story here.

Cooking + Foul Language = LOVE

On the way up to KY for our vacay I made Mr. Jetplane listen to the audio book Julie & Julia.

It was a great book, atleast I enjoyed it...and I believe Mr. did alittle bit as well.

I feel for Julie and her desire to find something that inspires her. I'll be honest, I would love to create a challenge for myself like she did and be able to see it through completion. And she has a wonderful sense of humor, albeit is slightly dirty... which I find even more endearing.

One other point worth mentioning is that the book is associated with the blog she created to document her journey through Julia's cookbook. I think this my have given Mr. a look inside why a woman like Julie (or his wife for that matter) started and continues a blog. I hope it let him understand why I enjoy my blog and my readers (or as she calls them, her bleaders).

I recommend this book at any and all of us culinary hopefuls who search for recipes and try to make ourselves better in the kitchen. I would love for my children and grandchildren to remember me the way I do my grandmother... the best cook in the entire world. She could create a wonderful dinner with whatever was in the pantry and we could never get enough.

And as Julia would say.... Bon Appetit!

P.S. I also read Jennifer Weiner's new book last week... review to follow...I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favorite of her books that's for sure...

True Blood!

OMG it was awesome last night, wasn't it?

Well, if you don't want to see spoilers then don't watch this video that the showed at Comic Con. Its only going to get better....

We're BBBBAAAACCCKKK!!!

The Jetplanes had a fantastic time on a boat this past week. 11 kids (if we can be called that anymore) on 1 house boat - 6 bedrooms and 2 baths...but it wasn't an issue at all.
Kitchen/Dining/Living Area

Front our front lower deck, another boat that is just like ours.
Back of the top deck

One of the guys and I did the majority of the cooking for the week, surprisingly he was a great cook and was constantly cleaning (when he was sober).

We were at Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. So we were living in up in the KY (the state, not the jelly) for 5 days. It wasn't hot, but sunny all the days but 1, and that was one rainy ass day.

We were also with 2 other boats, 29 people in total. We had a wonderful time.

Yes most of these pictures were captured while intoxicated.

Now I have to get back to the land of the living. It was really nice to not wear any makeup or blow dry my hair for a week.

Happy Monday!

Mr. Jetplane's New Favorite Meal

So as I have said, Mrs. Jetplane is trying her hardest to add a new recipe to her repertoire every week. This recipe was added about 2 months ago, and we've already had it twice. And as you can see, I have added Mrs. Jetplane Cooks tab, so more recipes to come...

It is yummy and pretty darn easy.

Three Cheese Beef Pasta Shells

Ingredients
24 uncooked jumbo pasta shells
1 lb of lean ground beef (atleast 80% - I use 97% lean)
1 Jar (26oz) chunky tomato pasta sauce ( I prefer Newman's own, Classico, or Barilla)
1/2 cup of water
1 container (8oz) chive & onion cream cheese spread (I bought Kraft, I haven't use the reduced fat one yet)
1 1/2 cups shredded 6-cheese Italian Cheese Blend
1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese ( I use Reduced Fat kind)
1 Egg

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cook and drain pasta shells.

2. Cook ground beef until thoroughly cooked, drain. Cool slightly.

3. In a large bowl, mix pasta sauce and water. Pour 1 cup of the pasta sauce mixture in bottom of an ungreased glass baking dish (13x9). In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, 1 cup of Italian Cheese, the Parmesan Cheese, Egg, and ground beef. Spoon a large tablespoon mixture into each shell. Arrange stuffed shells over sauce in baking dish. Pour remaining sauce over top, covering shells completely. Cover with foil.

4. Bake 40 - 45 minutes or until bubbly and cheese filing is set. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of Italian Cheese. Bake 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

Sorry no pictures... I promise the next time I make this I will take a picture and add it to this post. We eat them up...way too fast...

Enjoy!

I'm Just A Girl...who loves shoes

Thank you TJ Maxx for being so helpful in my shoe addiction. Here are some recent purchases and the reason that I am still nursing an injury from my Vegas trip. I totally bit it in the middle of the MGM thanks to one of these lovely babies...

These cuties are Jessica Simpson and I got them for $49.00. They had them in black as well.

I purchased these cute pink/orange Kate Spade's for $49.00. I had been eyeing them online for quite some time but never purchased them. But at $49 I couldn't resist.

These BCBG numbers are hot & high & are the reason that the top of my right foot is still sore from my very unladylike fall.

Last but not least... I got my pair of these lovely blue ladies... They are awesome. My friend Lou tracked them down in ATL and mailed them to me.

Yes, as you can see I keep all my 'good' shoes in boxes, either the boxes that they come in or I buy the $1 boxes from Walmart/Target.

Yes, I love shoes!

I'm on a BOAT...

Right now the Jetplanes are just beginning their week long lake vacay in the Midwest. Oh the Midwest... I do miss you so much sometimes...

The Jetplanes will be on a houseboat for a week with several couples....aka Mr. Jetplane's frat brothers and their significant others.... Needless to say, it should be interesting...

So in honor of this adventure!!! I'm sure I'll only hear this about 5 million times...

I haven't forgotten about you...

Sorry I've been MIA lately. The life of Mrs. Jetplane has been a little, let's say, CRAZY. We are going to be vacay this week and I have scheduled several posts for your enjoyment in my absence. I hope they work and I hope they entertain you in my absence.

I am still doing a giveaway but its going to have to wait a little bit.

Enjoy your week.... I know I will.

Love you all!

Pug Friday - Vegas Edition

In honor of the Jetplanes recent Vegas Vacay I thought we'd have a themed Pug Friday for all you lovely readers.

Enjoy!

Sorry I haven't given you a post about Vegas. The Jetplanes are leaving on Sunday for a weekend long lake vacay and needless to say, I'm a busy bee at work.

But here's a brief rundown.

1. I am currently nursing an injury that I gave to myself sober, when I fell in the middle of the MGM Grand. Wearing my very cute white/purple dress (didn't wear to the wedding).

2. Someone I was with took their shirt off at a blackjack table...2x.

3. I had to call my hubby to come get me. I had NO money and didn't bring my debit card out on purpose.

4. I did shots.. I never do shots. (reason to follow)

5. I didn't get to bed on Saturday morning until around 5am. Wedding at 2pm on Saturday.

6. I got us on the guest list for Wet Republic, couldn't go.. (reason to follow)

7. I had the 2nd worst hangover of my entire life. reason I don't do shots!

8. I dry heaved in the limo to the wedding, with Mr. Jetplane's family in the limo. The A/C was seriously blowing out hot air, and it was already 105 outside. **I start crying when I dry heave..TMI...maybe.

9. I had to have the limo drop me off at the hotel after the ceremony so I could throw up and sleep.

10. Met up with the crew 5 hours later at Slots of Fun with $3 tables and played black jack for 5 hours on $40. Came out $6.50 ahead.

11. I wore my blue shoes to the wedding, and got a lot of compliments. Too bad my ankle was/is bruised and swollen and I had to walk around in 4 inch heels.

12. I have like 3 pictures from the entire trip.

13. I was seriously a HOT MESS. Not proud of myself and Mr. Jetplane says his sister and I are even.

14. I did apologize to her and her husband like no more than 10x. They supposedly didn't care. Their MOH was wasted at the wedding and hit on the limo driver (man) and the minister (woman).

Vegas Baby! Vegas!

The Jetplanes are soooo money...

The Jetplanes are heading to Vegas this afternoon. Normally, I would (and should) be very excited about this trip, however I'm not.
#1 I really don't have the bandwidth at work right now to take a vacay, especially since I'm going to be out all next week for our real vacay that we have planned for like 6 months.

#2 Its for Mr. Jetplane's sister's wedding. Which we found about it last month. We aren't besties by any means and certain things happened at my wedding which I still hold a grudge about. Even though Mr. Jetplane had a long talk with me during our dog walk last night, begging and telling me I seriously need to let it go. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can.

That being said, I'm not going to do anything to ruin her day, I wouldn't do that.

But I have packed 3 dresses - the white/purple one and 2 black ones. I'm also bringing my new bright blue shoes...

So I'm going to pre-apologize for my lack of posts in the coming days.
I'm sure I'll come back with all sorts of 'good' stories.

Blog-o-versary!

YEAH!!! Leaving and Loving Turns 1 Year Old Today!!!
Due to my chaotic schedule with Mr. Jetplane, dog issues, upcoming Vegas trip, Lake Vacay, Friends coming into town, work kicking my ass, New House, and Moving.... I almost totally missed that TODAY is my 1 year blog anniversary.

Its astonishing to me that
#1 I have stuck with this blog.
#2 People read this blog.
#3 People actually like this blog and keep reading it.

I want to tell you all how much our 'invisible' friendships mean to me. You are all so wonderful, caring, and helpful. I started this blog at a time when I was preparing for Mr. Jetplane and I to be apart for 6 months. This blog and you fantastic ladies helped me get through that time and have helped me everyday since.
I appreciate you all more than you'll ever be able to know. Mr. Jetplane doesn't understand this new love of blogging and he doesn't understand how I can be so absorbed into the lives of other people that I don't even know. But I am and its okay with me.

The military wife life can get lonely, especially when all of your friends have left the base that you're at, or when all the women around you suck and you don't want to hang out with them. This blog and your 'invisible' friendships have gotten me through the day.

So Thank You all! I have a small token of my gratitude that will be in a giveaway for next week. So stay tuned.

Love you all.... Thank you for listening to my complaints, putting up with my pug love, and helping me through my irrational fears about getting pregnant.

With All Our Love,

The Jetplanes

Pug Friday

Happy Friday to you one and all! Here's your lil taste of Pug Love for the week.

Enjoy!

Jetplanes' BIG News!

Okay! First, NOOOOO Mrs. Jetplane isn't knocked up. But thanks for playing....

Here is the news...

We're buying a house! We put an offer in yesterday and it was accepted in record time, which we think means we should have asked for more...but oh well. We got all of the closing costs, all the appliances, a fence, gas logs, and several other odd and ends.

We're excited and scared to death all at the same time. The house is brand new and we're having the builder finish the bonus room upstairs before we move in next month. Its been a whirlwind. If you follow my twitter, you would have read the emotional roller coaster I've been on with this living situation.

Is this house our dream house...NO. Its our FIRST home. We look at it as an investment and we will rent it out once we leave North Carolina.

Okay...I'm going to go throw up now... We close on August 26th. They have to make some changes to the front porch, put up the fence, and finish the bonus room prior to inspection. But everyone assures us it will be done. Crossing finger and toes....

Holy Crap, we're buying a house...

Happy Birthday to Ya, Mr. Jetplane!

Today my best friend turns 29 years old. Happy Birthday sweetheart! I love you more today than yesterday. Who would have thought about 5 years ago, we would have met, become great friends, and fall in love. You are the funniest, most sarcastic, yet sweetest guy I've ever known.

Happy 29th Mr. Jetplane. Now I'm not the 'old lady' in the house any more....

And just for fun.... Here's a vintage pic of Mr. Jetplane. Wasn't he a cutie.

FYI- That Elvis costume was mine. I wore it to a Halloween party and he wore the next day to work. This was pre-Air Force Jetplanes, when he managed a bank.
And... how are you all loving the new look? Thank you Krizzy Designs!!!

Odds and Ends

First things first, Milo is okay. Thank you all for your kind words and emails, I'm an overbearing puppy mama I know.

Looks like he sprained his paw, if that is even possible. He's on some pain meds and doing a lot better. He's quite a funny pug running around at top speed on 3 legs. But it was sad watching him try to figure out on to pee on things when he couldn't put pressure on his left hind leg. But he figured it out.

We're gonna watch him for 5 days, and if needed we'll take him back for Xrays.

We do have exciting news at the Jetplanes household, but I'm not ready or able to get into it fully due to my workload and wanting to spend time with Mr. Jetplane since he was gone for over 4 days. But that news is coming...

In other news... Mr. Jetplane turns 29 tomorrow. Yeah! Now he can stop calling me his older woman and a cougar all the time. He finds it very funny since I am a whole month and 6 days older than him.

And after the fiasco that was my birthday, if you recall, I have made it a point to let him know that I purchased his bday gift well in advance. Eventhough I forgot to wrap it this weekend. Shhh...its hid in my dress closet in the workout room/bedroom. He doesn't go into that closet, yes I have a closet that I keep my old work suits and dresses in, yes I have a problem, yes I'm looking to deal with it.

Anyway, I'll discuss what the gift is tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday all! Gotta get back to work.

Preoccupied With the Pug

So if anyone of you follow my Twitter you'll know that some BIG things are happening with the Jetplanes, however I don't have the time (work=blows) right now to discuss.

And I'm totally preoccupied (worried) about my lil baby, Milo. He hopped around on 3 legs for most of Sunday and it currently at the vet. Generally speaking, his spirits seemed to be up all day yesterday, but this morning my lil man was not a happy camper.
Mr. Jetplane took him to the vet and cross your fingers, he didn't break anything. He and Charlie played pretty rough on Saturday evening.... they went crazy with the fireworks going on.
I'll update as soon as I hear anything.

Without My Military Man This Weekend

Yes, its very SAD news. Due to my crazy schedule at work (not home till 7pm last night and got in around 7:30am, ate lunch at my desk) I couldn't take today off.

Mr. Jetplane left for NC this morning, bright and early and unfortunately I had to take him to the airport at 5:30am this morning. He's going to look for us a place to live, we've decided to rent the first 9 months we know we'll be there and see what happens after his training is complete.

I reminded him that he is there for house hunting, not goofing off with all of his friends that are there right now. I reminded him that he just got his knee back 100% last week (6mo since his surgery during Christmas) and let's not f it up with your buddies new bike ramp into the lake behind his house. He and THEY have been warned. If my husband comes back with an injury, heads are going to roll. They might be a hell of a lot bigger than me, but I'm feisty and they know it.

So me and the boys (milo and charlie) are going to be having a VERY low key weekend. Which I will admit I'm definitely looking forward to. Mr. Jetplane as you know my now is extremely active, and I feel a real 'veg' session of Lifetime, Sophia Champagne, and a Tostitos party pizza in my future.

Oh... and I promised to do my 30 day Shred...

But I miss my hubby like crazy already...

For those of you that have asked - we're moving the last week of August. We are moving to Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC. (yes that is really the name of the base, yes it is still humorous if you are immature, yes its ok to chuckle, I have already)

We do not have to live on base and have chosen not to. We can live on base, however due to the fact we have no children (they don't include dogs) we can only get a 2 bedroom house. Due to our dogs and my working from home when we move, that's just not feasible, if I want to keep my sanity and Mr. Jetplane wants to keep his wife.

My Life Right Now

As some of you may have seen in my recent tweets, the Jetplanes brought this into our lives as of Sunday.

The first morning we did it, someone that it was a good idea to eat breakfast 15-20 minutes before she worked out. It was a VERY bad idea.

I'll be completely honest here....I down right loathe working out. My husband LOVES working out. He sometimes does it 2x a day because he thinks it....get this...fun. (Yeah I know).

Anyway, I decided that we needed to do it. We're going on a week long boat trip later this month with some of his ol frat brothers and we need to be comfortable in swimsuits for a week.

So last night we did our 2nd day on Level 1. (Yes, I refused to do it on Monday, sue me. Mondays you can't really get me to do much at all after work...deal with it.)

So Day 2 was WAAAY easier than day one, and the evening workout vs. morning I think helped as well.

But let me tell you... I'm sore...really sore. My thighs hate me right now, which is totally fine since I've always hated them and I'll be happy to see them go.

That all being said, the video so far is good. Mr. Jetplane said he was surprised at the quality of the workout for only 20 minutes.

Jillian is really annoying... and I hate her ankle tattoo of an angel of whatever it is....I stare at it through the whole workout. It also bothers me that it looks like her pants are going to fall down the entire time.

But we're gonna keep at it. Wish us luck...

How are you all doing on it?
