No NYE kiss for Mrs. Jetplane

So tonight is NYE and everyone is so excited.... that is except lil ol me. I'm not that excited at all. All our friends are out of town, since they can take leave to go home. So Milo and I are going to ring in the New Year, with a bottle of Champagne and some tasty doggie treats (for Milo).

Last year, was my last NYE as an unmarried lady. Mr. actually drove home from Illinois just in time for a NYE kiss. It was great, but I don't except him to make it this year. First year as Mrs. Jetplane and no kiss for yours truly. But, I'll be ok, its an over-rated holiday anyway, right? Yeah, that's what I'm telling myself.

Mrs. Jetplane got her hair did

So I got my hair chopped off the Friday before I headed to Texas to visit Mr. Jetplane.

I told him, I guess a better word would be, warned him, that I was getting my hair cut off. Mr. Jetplane prefers long hair, and particularly on me he prefers long hair. Well, my excuse.... we're not really living together right now, and by the time we are, it will be longer, so don't worry about.

Let me give you some back story here....

The Jetplanes met on Match.com and the pics I had posted were me with long hair. Before I met the Mr. I had really long hair. My previous bf, Mr. Douchebag (as he is affectionately known) loved my long hair. Well, he cheated on me and the 2 days before Mr. Jetplane and I met for our first face to face (at TGI Fridays btw) I got it chopped off to a little below chin length. It was drastic. But I needed to do something drastic. I let Mr. Jetplane know about the hair cut on our phone call to plan the date. He was shocked and tried to talk me out of it. But that didn't work.

So when I told Mr. Jetplane that I was getting my hair cut, he let me know that he likes my long hair. I reminded him that he met me with short hair and that turned out ok.

To that he responded, "Yeah, well I didn't ask you to be my girlfriend for a couple of months. Just enough time for your hair to grow out..."

Ha ha, he's a funny guy...

Well here's a pic. Sorry, it has been a long work day and I'm dragging, but Ms. Mandy wanted a pic so here you go girl.

Please ignore my messy closet in the background. I told you all I'm messy.

And here's a lil Milo lovin. His poor lil bottom lip is all red. Mr. Jetplane bought him a new bone and he's been chewing the crap out of it. I think its irritated his face, so its been thrown away much to his disgust.

Lil Jetplane Family Reunion

As I said earlier last week was the first time our whole family was back together since October. No the Jetplanes don't have what you like to refer to as "kids" we have 2 dogs. And by family, I mean all 4 of us, dogs included, were back together.

I know I talk about Milo all the time, that's because he's my baby and I had him before the Mr. and I ever met. But we do have another dog, Charlie. Charlie is an American Bulldog. He's 1 1/2 years old. I never wanted a "big" dog, Mr. Jetplane always wanted a "big" dog, an American Bulldog to be particular. So what did he do, he found a puppy for sale the weekend after asking me to marry him.

What was a girl to do???

Here his Charlie and his favorite person in the world, Mr. Jetplane. He loves his daddy so much.

You see, even though he's a "big dog" he desperately wants to be a small dog. Here he is, trying to fit his big ol booty into Milo's lil bed.

Here's Charlie... so excited about his Christmas bone.

Here's the Jetplanes' make shift Christmas set up in Texas. I brought our stockings and my lil tree decorated with lime green ornaments.

Mrs. Jetplane has been a very good girl

So good in fact that I decided to buy myself a lil something special, and here she is....

Its a Citizen's Riva Chronograph Watch, Mother of Peal face, diamond accents, and its solar powered. That's right Mrs. Jetplane's bling is totally eco-friendly....

Macy's had all their watches at 25% off and I had about $100 in credit from Macy's from past wedding registry issues. Since we have NO MACY'S in P'cola ( I know its terrible), this "free" money from Macy's has been burning a hole in my pocket.

Merry Christmas to me...

If you were "Curious"...

The Jetplanes saw the Curious Case of Benjamin Button last week and loved it. The main character, Benjamin Button, is adapted from an F. Scott Fitzgerald 1921 short story, by the same name. Having read the short story, it is very different from the movie.

The movie is set in NOLA and begins in 1918 during WWI and continues until 2005, the day Hurricane Katrina hit.

The 3 hour movie, is a "love story" but so much more than that. Its a reminder that life is what you make of it. And its a story highlighting the beauty of New Orleans.

The circle of life is ever present and noticeable due to the fact that Benjamin is raised in a retirement home, with tenants that come and go with some frequency, and each one enriching his life in their own special way.

There are some very lovely quotes through out the movie. My favorite was from Benjamin's piano teacher who said that people have to die so we know how important they were to us. That's most definitely true...

The videography, costumes, sets, etc. were gorgeous. The lightening that was used to highlight the youthful Daisy and Benjamin was beautiful.

And last, but certainly not least Brad Pitt looked amazing in hot. He looked incredibly dapper in the period clothing and when the (young looking) Benjamin would appear on screen I caught myself saying aloud, "Hello!". Oh and Cate Blachett looked really beautiful as well as...

Please go see it. Mr. and I had talked about the film and what it made us think about. Its truly amazing all the technological advances that have occurred in the past 100 years. Makes us both wish, we still had our great grandparents to talk to.
And remember, you're never too old (or too young) to start over again. That can be said for you, me, and NOLA.

Get in there and get back to work...

That's what I'm telling myself today. I bought myself a 12oz Sugar Free Red Bull this morning, and I'm trying to will myself back into action.

Emails, voice mails, Monday morning meeting.... All my new projects to attend to and the managers I'm working with are out today.... ugh...

Spoke with Mr. Jetplane this morning, I miss him terribly. I didn't sleep well at all last night, but Milo sure did.

Upcoming posts -
1. My new hairdo
2. Benjamin Button - Mr. and I loved it. Even though it was 3 hours long and he was in pain for the last hour.
3. Christmas gifts
4. Shopping at the outlets in San Marcos
5. My Christmas gift to myself

Thanks again for all the well wishes, you guys are awesome... And Mandy so sorry that we didn't get to head up to see you guys, sorry I haven't called you back. I've been bad this past week returning everyone's messages.

Had to Say BYE to Mr. Jetplane

I left this morning around 7:30am. I had to get through Houston before all the people headed into town for the Texans v. Bears game.

I made it through Texas without any real issue, but then it rained and poured and it was horrible. But I made it home safe and sound. Milo is passed out on the couch and I'm dreading the unpacking, which will not all occur tonight.

I'm sad, but I'll be honest, I'm too tired to get upset about it. I'm worried about Mr. Jetplane. He's all by himself until his roommate gets back next Sunday. He's off work until next week, but he has to drive himself to his first physical therapy appointment tomorrow.

It was wonderful to get to spend a week with him. Unfortunately, his surgery had proved to be much more painful then we had anticipated. So we didn't get to do too much after Tuesday.

A couple of high points...

shopping, shopping, shopping...

we saw Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt is ridiculous hot.... OMG)

and getting to have our whole lil Jetplane family back together.

Picture of Mr. Jetplane being his crazy self. He was the Best Man in his cousin wedding in August.

Happy Friday...

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Mrs. Jetplane has been a very good girl and got some great gifts. I new Nano, arm band, car set up for the Nano, a new camera, digital picture frame, new make up brushes, and more.

Well even though I'm somewhat MIA this week, here's a little puggie loving for you all to enjoy.

And thank you all for your well wishes for Mr. Jetplane. He's getting better, but still in pain. We've been watching ALOT of tv and movies. I hate that I have to leave him Sunday morning. His roommates won't be back until the following Sunday.

I'm going to the outlet mall today solo. Its probably best that way anyway.

1. Its 70 and sunny on Christmas Eve, too bad the Mr. is laid up on the couch.
2. No more vomiting.... nice
3. I love HEB, never been to one. I bought awesome Spring Rolls from the sushi counter.
4. I love that in Texas you can buy 3 Liter bottles of soda.
5. Tonight for dinner I'm making the Mr. one of his favs - meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

Now the REAL fun begins...

Mr. Jetplane successfully had surgery this morning. It went better than expected, his meniscus tear wasn't as bad as they had predicted. Which is definitely a good thing, particularly for his recovery.

Its been a long ass day. We got up at 4am.

Now we are home, and the fun has most definitely started. He's definitely not the best patient, and I'm not the best nurse.

Reason 129, I know I'm not ready for kids...

I can't deal with someone throwing up. Mr. Jetplane and Percocet don't exactly mix and Mrs. Jetplane was the lucky one that got to dispose of it all, gagging the whole way. Yes, I'm not ready to deal with all the bodily functions that come along with kiddos...

Just for fun, here's a lil old school Mr. Jetplane for you...

Today I felt like a wife

Even though I've been married for over 6 months, the Mr. and I haven't been together for most of them. Today was the Mr. pre-op appointments at the military hospital. And today, I got to feel like a real military wife.

We got there around 8:10am because Mr. Jetplane wanted to take me to the wonderful mess hall for breakfast.

It actually wasn't that bad, I had a banana, 1 pancake, 2 pieces of bacon, and a glass of cranberry juice for like $2.25. Yes, the Mr. only takes me to the finest of dining establishments.

After that we had an ortho appointment with his surgeon. We got there about 15 minutes early, and got in right away. Today, we met with 2 ortho Dr.'s, the ortho nurse, got all his pain meds, went through administration, took all his vitals, met with 2 anesthesia nurses, got fitted and took home crutches, and got his blood work done. Believe it or not, we were out of there by 11:30am. It was shocking. Luckily, Mr. Jetplane wore his flight suit so we got through all things quicker.

We're set to be at the hospital tomorrow at 5:15am, he's the first surgery for tomorrow with the ortho. So needless to say, we're not doing too much tonight.

His surgery shouldn't last too long, hopefully. He's torn his ACL and he has a tear in his meniscus, they don't know how bad the meniscus tear is until they go in to scope the knee.

I know its not an intense surgery, but its still surgery. And I'm a worrier, so needless to say, I'm worrying.

Howdy Y'All....

I am in the Lone Star state.... What should have been a 10 hour trip turned into a 12 and 1/2 hour trip. But I'm here. And all is well.

More to come....

Giddy with anticipation...

Tomorrow morning I am leaving for Texas. I'm so excited. I have so much to do before I leave. I'm getting my hair did later today. I am a lot of work on my desk that needs to get done and I'm way to distracted to think about it.

I will be with Mr. Jetplane tomorrow evening. The whole lil Jetplane family will be reunited. Milo is excited I can tell.

The Mr. knows the way to my heart, he said we'll go to the outlet mall on Sunday or Monday. Yeah.... I have $40 in coupons from BR and a 25% off coupon. I'm so excited, I heard through the grapevine and my readers that the outlet near SA is great.

And since its Friday I couldn't leave you hanging without a puggie. Enjoy your weekend...

I'll be back in action in a couple of days. You may get a lil post from Mr. Jetplane.... we'll see about that. He knows of the blog, the page pulled up when he got on my computer over Thanksgiving. He called me Mrs. Jetplane, I almost crapt my pants. I don't think he read too much...

Have a great weekend everyone.

XOXO

Update on Mama Jetplane

Unbelievable news!!!

My mom doesn't need to have chemo! She met with her oncologist today, due to the size of the tumor, the cancer free lymph nodes, and the fact the she had both breasts removed, they do not think she needs chemo. They are going to put her on a hormone therapy treatment and recommend removing her ovaries. Her cancer was estrogen feed, so its best they remove them. She already had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago so its not too big of a deal.

The Dr. said that in cases such as hers, if cancer is to reappear somewhere down the road, it generally reappears in the bone. So they are going to start building up her calcium to combat that now.

I am so delighted for her. She was very nervous about chemo and losing her hair. My grandma had chemo and radiation, and when she lost her hair it was devastating to her. I didn't want my mom to go through that.

What a wonderful Christmas present. Thank you God for hearing and answering all our prayers.

Secondly, thank you to all of you for your support those these trying times. Its meant so much.

Making me laugh this afternoon....

Watch it till the end, its hilarous.

I told you all that Larry King better watch out... I do have a new love of suspenders...

This just made my day....

I am so annoyed....

With my email notifications telling me that various Marc Jacobs' purses are on sale. I go to the sites, eager with anticipation.... and to my dismay and disgust, they are out of stock... again.. and again... and again...

Don't send me these freaking emails and you don't even have them available. Talk about a letdown.

Oh and while I'm at it. Hey JCrew! Yeah you JCrew, thank you for the great sales but.... make your freaking website work and stop posting items that are sold out. STOP DOING THAT, the other day I click on 5 items in a freaking row that were sold out, that ridiculous.

Rant over.... Merry Christmas and Happy Shopping...

Getting Your Pug Lovin A Little Early This Week

So I recently received a very cute and unexpected tag from Jennifer. However, she didn't tag me she tagged Milo. Well, actually her cat Sugar tagged my lil hunk of puggie loving, Milo.

Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

So I am having Milo answer these questions.... I've agreed to type for him since he found it a little difficult...

1. I have a deep love for all things soft and cozy. I pick the softest, coziest place to lay down, and I will walk around it 10 times if needed to get it set up just right. Mama says I'm high maintenance.

2. I'm part monkey. I jump on and off of everything. And I'm not scared of anything. Mama says, that I'm too curious for my own good.

3. Regardless of what you may think, I am not a small dog, I am a big dog, so you better recognize. Mama says I have a Napoleon complex, but I'm not sure what that means.

This is me and my parents on their wedding day. I was very upset that I couldn't go to the ceremony.

4. I have allergies, and I get to take drugs every day. I love my drugs. Mama says, "You want your medicine?" I run into the kitchen in front of the cabinet that holds my lil pink happy pills.

5. I love the water, but hate snow. I love to take baths, jump in the shower, swim in the ocean/pool, jump in puddles, you name it and I love it. I'm quite a good swimmer if I do say so myself. I straighten out my tail and use it as a rudder. People are always very impressed at the dog park when they see me swim out there with the labs, goldens, etc. I'm quite proud of myself.

This is me and my "big" lil brother Charlie. We're hanging out on dad on the office.

6. I enjoy watching television. Mama and I love watching comedies, dramas, and reality TV. I get anxious and growl when I hear suspenseful music. I bark at every single dog on the TV. Mom can't watch Animal Planet, I go crazy. I also go crazy every time there is water on TV - a pool, swimming, boats, etc. She thinks its because I love the water so much that I want to be there.

This is me as a puppy, aren't I just the cutest thing ever?

Well, its been fun guys... and I think my drugs are starting to kick in...
I tag the following people:
1. Lulu and Jax at I Now Prounounce You
3. Patty and Linus at Preppy Nonsense
4. Boudreaux and Fiona at Blue Eyed Bride
5. Miller at Southern Preppy

Getting to know the Jetplanes...

You've asked and now I'm going to answer. Some of these questions I received a while ago and I hadn't answered them, sorry I'm a bad blogger.

1. Where are we from? We're both from Illinois, but met when we we're living in Indianapolis.

2. Where did you go to college? I went to Eastern Illinois and he went to Northern Illinois.

3. Do you miss living in the Midwest? I miss living near a large metro area. I crave shopping, P.F. Chang's, watching the Colts, NCAA tourney, and Super Target.

4. What do you do for a living? Well, what I do is actually kinda confidential. In the most generic terms, I work as a recruiter for technical consultants, mainly in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

5. How did you decide on you career? Well, I don't know if this is a career. I had worked in marketing and sales since graduating college. My last employer in Indy closed, which led me to move down to P'cola to live with the Mr. who had just started training in P'cola. It took me several months to find a job that was somewhat financially comparable to what I had previously. At the time I was hired I was the youngest person hired by a good 10 years.

6. Where are you going to be moving to in NC. We're going to be stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC. We're thinking about trying to live between Goldsboro and Raleigh, but we'll see.

7. What is you living situation with the Mr.? Well, right now we're not living together, he is currently in EWO school in San Antonio. We moved in together in August 2006, got engaged July 2007, and married June 08. We lived together until he left for IFF (T-38 school in Columbus, MS) in mid August. He completed that in October, was home for 2 weeks, and then left for EWO. He will be at EWO until March.

8. How do you deal with the living situation? Its hard, really hard. But its manageable. I'll be completely honest here, and I might have a different view than some. The Mr. and I chose to live together before marriage, I think that's what has been this situation much easier. If we had moved in together after marriage in June and he left in August, OMG I think I would have died. I miss him like crazy. We talk every morning, afternoon, and at least 3 times at night. The conversations aren't long, we're not phone people, they are generally 5-10 minutes. We also web cam. Its tough, but I do think this is preparing me for his inevitable deployment.

9. How old is Milo and did you grow up with pugs? Milo is 5 1/2 years old, and no I didn't grow up with pugs. I grew up with labs. I really wanted a dog, and my boyfriend at the time, previously referred to as, Mr. Doucheness, told me to research the different breeds and make a choice. He didn't want me to get want he called a "yippy" dog. I decided upon the pug breed, and it was the best decision I ever made. He is an awesome lil dog and they are a great breed.

10. What flowers were in your bouquet? Peonies and green hydrangeas, it smelled amazing.

11. Where did you get the tan boots from? These boots are from Nine West, probably 3 or so years ago.
12. When are you moving to NC? As it stands right now, in April 08.

Any more questions, ask away....

Happy Holidays <3 The Jetplanes

Thanks to Ms. Nina these are the Jetplanes' holiday cards. I think she did a great job. I put them in black envelopes, wrote the addresses in white ink, and added large, metallic snowflake stickers from Martha Stewart to the envelopes. The stickers were are clearance for $2.47 at Michaels.

I wanted to use black envelopes, so I needed to lighten them up. I doubt our family and friends are receiving black Christmas cards from anyone else. They are different, but I adore them.

Missing Mr. Jetplane & TX Help Needed

This weekend I had my holiday party for work. Since the Mr. is in Texas, I flew solo. It was sad, not only because I missed him. But he loves the food at the place we had it at and with him being MIA lil Mrs. Jetplane couldn't enjoy the Pinot Gringo too much. Since I had to drive myself home I couldn't have too much fun.

But I get to see my husband no later than the 22nd. I may get to leave for Texas on Saturday, but we'll see how this week at the j-o-b goes.

I can't wait to have a week with the Mr. I know that I do have some readers in and around the San Antonio/Austin area, any suggestions on stuff to do, places to see, and some good eats? The Mr. will have just had surgery so I don't know how much we'll get out, but I know with his hatred for being in the house all day, we will be getting out and about.

Don't know why, but I find this picture really sexy.... I fell in love with his uniform that day. I think that night I developed a "thing" for suspenders... Watch out Larry King... ugh.. I was totally joking about Larry King...
This picture was taken during our interview for the wedding video. Weird as it may sound, this is one of my favorite pictures from the day.

Jetplanes' Christmas in the Lone Star State

As I said in my earlier post, the whole Jetplane family (this means our 2 lil boys, by boys I mean dogs) will be together again for the first time since October.

The reasoning behind this... Well the Mr. has to have knee surgery and he is having it on December 23rd. The knee surgery has been needed for some time, but due to not wanting to mess up with flight school, he has been dealing with the pain. That is until my adorable husband, who is extremely accident prone, decided to play flag football while up in Columbus for T-38 school. (I warned him not to do that) He tweaked it again, and we knew that surgery needed to happen asap. Right now is the best time, since he's not in an intense flight school, his schooling right now is mainly classroom work.

So we're going to be spending the holiday in San Antonio. I'm going bring my lil mini tree and our stockings, I thought I could bring something there since they didn't decorate at all.

I can't wait to have our lil family back together....

Can't wait to see Charlie. I haven't seen him since he left with the Mr. in October. He's a big old sweetie pie.

Holla at your girl...

I'm going to have a lil' Q&A for the Jetplanes.

I'm going to answer some questions that I have received lately, so I thought I would open it up to all of you fine folk out there in the blog world. No question too small, too weird, too random, feel free to ask away....

Also, I hope to update my blog roll this weekend, so if you want to be added give a girl a head's up.

Once was Blind, but now I SEE...

Well, not really. I'm pretty much blind, but I did finally bite the bullet and bought new glasses. I blogged awhile ago about my desire for new glasses. I've had the exact frame of glasses for seriously 10 years. But not now, with the help of trusty optical insurance, my new Vera Wang glasses didn't cost me too much. Here they are, they are dark green and fade to a lighter green on the ends, don't think the pic is too good (sorry done with the web cam).

Sorry for the sad hair, today it rained all day in P'cola and my hair is kinda gross.

Also, I have finally finished the Christmas decorations for the house and I promised to show you some more. (again pics from web cam)

This is my $8.00 wreath from Big Lots. Its on my door to the back yard. Here is the lovely mantle. I'm pretty happy with it. Check out my cute stockings for the Mr., Charlie, Me, and Milo. Yes I bought stockings for the dogs and yes the Mr. and Charlie aren't even going to be home this year for Christmas, I don't care.

I used my 9 ft pre-lit garland that I've had for several years now. I add $1 ornaments that I bought from Walmart, silver and blue glass balls from Hobby Lobby that were 1/2 off, and silver springs from Hobby Lobby (1/2 off as well). I bought 2 glass tree toppers from TJ Maxx 1 silver and 1 lime green, I adore them, I'm going to buy more when they go on sale at Target (I'm not paying $16 for them). Finally I added my glass apothecary jars from my wedding. I put glass ornaments in them. I also placed another one of the coffee table, and used a Martha Stewart place mat that I got for like $2.

This is my centerpiece for my kitchen table, I want a different table runner, but I'm not going to buy one right now. I'll just deal with it.

This is my table behind the table. I have my lovely polka dot Kate Spade Vase filled with ornaments, a cute silver reindeer, and my lovely blue candle holders. These generally sit on the mantle. As you can see my theme is most definitely silver, blue, and green. But I've added little pops of color here and there.

Last but not least, Milo is really excited about the decorations, can't you tell....

Shout Out to Dugout Daisy...

Thank you so much for reminding me of my favorite movie as a child, The Labyrinth. I'm not joking, I watched this movie every single weekend. This movie and 2 others, Howard the Duck and Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

Some might think this movie was a little dark for a young child, maybe... David Bowe is totally awesome but a little scary in the movie. And it did make me stop asking for someone to come and take away my lil brother, well atleast for a little while.

Not a Fan of the Stache

But on Mr. Brad Pitt, I think I may be able to make an exception. And I love when he wears an old fashioned tux. He wears a suit so well. If you need proof, take a look at him in the Ocean films. Talk about sexy....

Ok back to my point, sorry he distracts me. I hate facial hair. I down right loathe it. And even though the stache on him still freaks me out a little I'd be willing to put up with it to wake up next to that sexy piece of man meat every day.

I know a lot of people are Team Aniston, but I'm sorry I do adore these two together. Brad seems incredibly happy and always wanted a large brood of children.

I have a love for all things 80s

Its true I do, I love everything 80s. I'm a child of the 80s, 1980 to be exact. I love the music, movies, toys, games, everything.

But I do have a serious love for 80s movies. So bad that the Mr. doesn't like watching them with me, I can some of them literally line by line, and he hates it.

What are my favorites, well John Hughes' of course. He is the king of 80s movies. LOVE him, and there I have to love Molly Ringwald. What are my favorite movies, well I'm so glad you asked.

1. Pretty in Pink

This is my hands down favorite movie. In high school my friend bought me the soundtrack on CD, which I still have and listen to from time to time. My favorite quote from the movie...

"You said you couldn't be with someone who didn't believe in you. Well I believed in you. I just didn't believe in myself. I love you... Always..."

2. The Breakfast Club

"Hey, how come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up, it'll be anarchy!"

"Don't mess with the bull, young man. You'll get the horns."

Ok I'll admit this is the movie that I have a problem not quoting word for word, I truly can't help myself.

Some of my other favorites in no particular order: Can't Buy Me Love, Weird Science, The Lost Boys, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Heathers, Pump Up the Volume, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, and the list goes on. What is your favorite 80s movie?

Holiday Mail for Heroes

Hello all, during this time of year we get to spend time with our family and friends and it reminds us all to be thankful for all that we have. But let us never forget the men and women that are fighting for us all by land, air, and sea.

I received an email earlier today regarding the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign created by Pitney Bowes and the Red Cross. They hope to send 1 million cards to American soldiers by tomorrow, December 10.

Below is a link to the program's Flickr account which has pics of the cards.

Can you keep a secret?

Well the Mr. can't. Maybe a point of clarification, he can't keep a secret from me. He tells me everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything. I don't ask and sometimes I really don't want to know.

The main point at issue for me here is with gifts. I like to open a gift, that is wrapped on the day I'm suppose to receive it - be that a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, etc. The Mr. can't wait to give me my gifts when he buys them. He actually likes to buy them while I am with him and give them to me there. Case in point, over Thanksgiving he bought me a Colts Jersey (L Kids size). That's one of my gifts, sorry if that's a weird gift to some of you. I love football - GO COLTS!

Another example - proposing to me. No he did not have an elaborate plan, he didn't wait long enough. He drove up to Illinois to supposedly visit his family. He actually drove up to meet my parents get the diamond and then go to his family and put it in a setting. A few days later he then drove back down to P'cola and got home around 10:00 pm or so. He had the ring in his pocket and wanted to give it to me right then, but held back. He gave it to me the next night when I got home from work.

So yesterday I get home from work and there is a box on the porch, its my Christmas present that he bought from Amazon. He told me to go ahead and open it. NO! Don't ruin my Christmas, its our first Christmas together as a married couple, I want to open it on Christmas. But I did shake it. Its either a new camera or a watch, maybe both.... it sounds like 2 things in the box.
He says that I can't hold back and not open the box. Well Mr., watch me.... But I may shake it a couple more times.

Reality of an Aviator's Wife

The Mr. is a WSO (Weapons Specialist Officer aka Navigator) for the F-15E. This is a fighter jet, to better understand, he's like "Goose" in Top Gun, but that was Navy and he's Air Force. He will begin flying in the F-15E when we get to NC this Spring. Right now, he's flown in several different types of smaller jets. Even though he is a Navigator, he does learn to fly all the jets he's in.

Today I'm reminded how dangerous his job is. Not that I need reminding but today it slapped me in the face yet again. Today, there was an F-18 crash in San Diego, it appears the pilot may ejected without issue. What people often forget, is training for fighters or any aircraft is an extremely dangerous job. While we've been here in P'cola, there was a crash at a training wing killing all three on board, the Blue Angels crash during an air show, and the incident with 2 F-15C out in the Gulf near here. Luckily, in the 2nd incident one of the 2 pilots survived.

Every single day before the Mr. goes up for a flight I tell him BE SAFE and BE SMART. I used to tell him good luck, but he says luck has nothing to do it. I tend to disagree, but good thing the Mr. is the luckiest SOB I've ever known.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the pilot and all the people on the ground near the crash site. Fighter pilots and navigators for the Navy and Marines come through P'cola. We know a large of number of guys and girls that are there or headed there soon. Today made me think and pray for all of them.

When the Wife's Away, the Mr. throws a dinner party...

The Mr. on our honeymoon enjoying his cigar.

Well, he didn't call it a dinner party, but the Mr. bought a Texas Chili kit last week and really wanted to make it. This led him to go grocery shopping and cooking his chili all day longon Sunday. Here are some of the phone calls I received...

"What does minced garlic mean and where do I buy it?"

"Is canned beef gravy the same is beef stock?"

"Where is beef stock?"

"What is simmer and what is a low boil?"

"What does saute mean, how long does it take?"

I was so impressed that he took on this recipe because it sounded quite detailed. He had to soak beans, use stock, and it had to cook for hours. I asked him to take pictures to prove to me that this actually happened and people enjoyed eating his cooking.
I told him I was impressed that he was throwing a dinner party. To that he said...
"Its not a dinner party. I making chili and corn bread and the guys are coming over to watch the football game tonight that's all."

"Ok honey. You invited people over and you've spent all day cooking. They are going to eat your food, hang out in your house, that sounds like a dinner party to me."
"Well its not a dinner party..."
"Ok, you can call it whatever you want...."

You are SO Random...

Good Morning Y'all (wait I'm not southern... living down here is rubbing off on me....)

I was recently tagged by Mrs. Not-so-Domesticated....

The rules of the tag are as follows:
1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.

So let the randomness that is my life begin....

1. The Mr. and I met on Match.com, and he always jokes that we need to get our own TV ad.

2. I don't have relationship with my "real" dad. My parents separated when I have 5, and my 'real' dad has been less than great for most of my life. The last time I spoke to him (well at him more likely) was when I was 18 in court.

3. I'm messy and I hate cleaning. My room and closet are generally messy. The Mr. hates it. I'm not dirty, just messy. I keep the living room, kitchen, (all main living area clean and tidy) but I hate picking up after myself. The Mr. won't let me get a cleaning lady right now. But when we have kids, it is most definitely happening...

4. I have a love of Techno Music. I started in college, and it sticks with me until today. I love working out to techno music. The Mr. loves it. It obviously made an appearance at the wedding. I bought 5 packs of glow sticks at the Dollar Store. I busted them out, as a total joke. But the joke was on me because then everyone jumped onto the dance floor and everyone wanted one. It was hilarious.

5. I didn't have my 1st real kiss until I was 14. My mom re-married and we moved to a new town. I attended a small, Catholic school from 1-8th grade and never had a real kiss on the lips. We moved and I went to a big, scary public school. (not that big only 800 people, but it was HUGE to me.) Within 2 weeks of starting school, I had my first date and my first kiss at festival in town. I was like... "wow is this what public school is like..."

6. I went to college to be a Speech Pathologist. I changed majors at the end of my Sophomore year. I graduated with a Business Marketing major. And I graduated in 4 years with a ridiculous number of credits. My parents told me anything over 4 years, I had to pay for myself, talk about some motivation.

I need to tag 6 random people.... but I'm going to tag everyone... so ha ha you're all IT....

And a big THANK YOU to you all for the kind words about the Jetplanes hitting the 6 month mark. It is tough being apart, but I don't want to throw myself too big of a pity party. There are so many wives that haven't seen their husband in 6 months, and he is in a war zone. My sadness and loneliness doesn't begin to compare to theirs. I keep reminding myself that I need to keep it all in perspective.

Me and the Mr. Love you Honey.
Thanks again guys... Love you all!

xoxo

Today is special...

Today is the Jetplanes' 6 month wedding anniversary... I can't believe its already been 6 months, out of which the Mr. and I have been "together" for about 2 and 1/2 months. It totally sucks and makes me incredibly sad to know that in the 1st year of our marriage, we're going to have been apart for most of it.
I miss him so much some days, especially on the weekends. I miss going to work out together, then grabbing lunch at Subway, walking the dogs, going to the movies, playing Scrabble, watching the Colts together... its the weekends that are the toughest.
I'm ok with sleeping by myself again, having the whole bed can be nice. I don't miss having to watch dumb Steven Segal movies if they are on TV. But I do miss pretty much every single thing about him, no matter how small.

Since I'm reminiscing here are some pics from our wedding...
