Peanut Gallery...

Being out and about in this bloggy blog world you come into contact with a lot of trends.

Trends we see out there in blog land, sometimes seem repetitive to us but to other "normal" people they aren't...take for instance some of these...

I have 2 silver poufs in my front living room and I love them. Scratch that I adore them. I wanted them for forever. I've had them for almost a year now, and even back then people in design blog land we're calling them played out.
I only know 1 other person's home I have visited in the past few years that has one. Her brother got it for her when he was stationed in Turkey. They are all over blog land but I hardly see them in the real world.

How about "Keep Calm and Carry On"? This is everywhere now...or atleast it feels like it. I own a piece of artwork that says this. I've had it for a long time. Do I still like it? Yes. Do I see it hanging in a lot of homes of my friends...no, no I don't. Do I see if every other second on Pinterest..yes yes I do.

Which leads me to my final trend. The ringer finger glitter nail. Thoughts? Sometimes I find it cute and charming. Sometimes I don't like it all.
But I decided to give it a whirl today. I'm attending a party tonight and thought what the hell...

Not sure I like it. Not sure if its me.

So what do you think about trends out there in blog land? Are we judging to harshly? I read a ton of home decor and design blogs. I read a lot of home decor magazines. I imagine I see and like things that perhaps others that aren't as absorbed in this "culture" wouldn't come into contact with.

Thoughts?

Do I jump on a trend bandwagon because of the blogs and magazines I read? Or am I ahead of the curve and before its jumped the shark?

I honestly find myself doing this more with home decor and some beauty items over clothes. While I like some trendy clothes, I generally don't invest in the trendier items.

What do you think?

What trends out there do think are played out and what things do you think are classic and will never die no matter how many knock offs are sold at Target? Has Pinterest changed everything?

The bracelet stacking trend is one that I've only seen on Twitter.

I definitely agree. I have noticed people on facebook (who are not part of the blog/twitter/pinterest world) will mention something and I think to myself, "How are you just now finding out about that? That was the hot item months ago!" We find out about things much sooner and they run their course mush quicker when 900 people are tweeting about having one of something.

I never understood, what is the origin of that poster " Keep calm and carry on"?
