What's YOUR Song??

The Jetplanes have plenty of songs that are special to us. Songs that take us back to a special time in our lives individually and together. But there is one song that is very special to us and I like to credit as the reason we are together today.

For those of you that don't know the story of the Jetplanes, well that's a long one and will not make it all in this post...sorry. But let's us stay, the military wasn't initially part of the plan. Falling in love with a man that was going into the military was never a future this 'career' girl had in mind when she met Mr. Jetplane for our 1st date at the TGIFridays in Indy (that is now a Crate and Barrel).

But all those things happened and caused a lot of tension between us when Mr. Jetplane found out that he'd been accepted into Officer Training School, and would eventually be traveling all over the country (and world) for the next 20 years. Where did that leave me with my career and life, at that time in Indy. He didn't know if I was 'the one' that he was going to marry and I didn't know if he was "the one" either. But he knew he didn't want to me to resent him for changing my career and possibly my life goals, for him.

So what did he do, well like any scared boy, he broke up with me....Yeah he sure did, and he tried to do over email while we were both at work...yeah he sure did...

But I wouldn't let that happen, and I forced him to come to my apartment that night and break it off if that's what he wanted to do. I questioned his reasonings and I could tell he definitely wasn't firm in them. I could tell he was shaken and upset by this decision he'd made.

Well little did I know then (what I know now) that he got in his truck to drive himself home that night and put on this song...

And he proceed to listen to the song the entire month we were broken up...

It made him realize his feelings for me and whether or not, we were supposed to be together forever, he knew he didn't want to lose us...

Obviously we did end up back together, thanks to ME, and that my children is also another tale for another time...

So needless to say, this had to be the Jetplanes wedding song, right???

To all you lovely readers...what is your song? Any story behind it?

This is our song, too!! We were best friends for...7 years before we started dating...so it was only fitting! Both of our moms sobbed during our first dance, ha!

The night chrischris & i first hung out, we sat in his car afterwards for HOURS talking, and when I got in my car to leave the song "Don't" by Billy Currington came on. It goes somethin like "baby don't just say you're leaving, why don't you stay a little bit longer"

We love that song =) it seemed to come on at the perfect time!

Cute! Our first dance song at our wedding was "My Girl" by The Temptations and my husband's sister sang "In My Life" by The Beatles at our ceremony so I consider those "our" songs.

Our wedding song will be Ever the Same by Rob Thomas. Our wedding party is going to dance to My best Friend.

My husband has been in the military for over 20 years and has been on too many deployments to count...two lasting about a year!
Well, pretty early on we decided that wherever I had a chance to see him I would go there, or he would come to me no matter what. Our song is " I drove all night" by Cindy Lauper

We haven't decided on our first dance song yet, but we say that "I'll Stand By You" by Carrie Underwood is our song because I always make him dance with me to that song and I sing obnoxiously loud! Gosh he is a keeper :)

I love hearing how people got together....

If you can believe it the Preppy Boyfriend and I don't have a song... actually music in general is an area were we are polar opposites. We both listen to a wide array of music, but his favorite is rap, not hip hop like you hear on the radio, but mix tape rap, the dirty, foul, disgusting awful stuff, that can't get played on the radio because every word would have to be bleeped.

I hate it, I get tired of hearing gross analogies for gross sexual acts, and hearing about drugs... so on road trips he listens to his music and I bring my Ipod.... I'm only hoping he'll grow out of this mix tape phase long before we plan to have children!

We don't really have a song, but our 1st dance was to "Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne which the hub picked while he was in Iraq! We have a similar story where he broke up with me before his 1st deployment and realized about 1/2 way through that he'd made a mistake. Lucky for him I hadn't found another guy that met the standards he had set and we got back together when he got home =) Boys do stupid things sometimes!

Ours is Danny's Song by Kenny Loggins. While on the field trip this weekend it came on my iPod through shuffle. The lyrics, "I think I'm gonna have a son" came on and I guess it never hit home until that moment. How appropriate the words to the song are for our life!

What a fun post!

I'm getting married in July, and our song will be "All the Way" by Frank Sinatra. It's a beautiful song and every lyric has a meaning to us.

i forgot to say.. our wedding song is either going to be everything by brad paisley or ain't love a kick in the head by dean martin. no meaning behind kick in the head besides the fact that i tell him i will kick him in the head someday. haha! the brad paisley song just because we both love him and it is probably his most romantic song.
