Fake it till you make it...

That's a common motto of the Jetplanes...
As a young married couple (yes we still consider 30 yr olds very young) trying to save money and remodel their 2nd house, fake it till you make it is something we do on the daily. You see I am one that you would call having...champagne taste on a beer budget...that comes to clothes, shoes, and home decor.
So when it comes to the living room we needed something to use as an entertainment center. I had my eye on something similar to the PB option below.
Which can be yours for a cool $3k. ummm yeah not gonna happen at all. So what's a girl to do with oh about zero dollars to spend on this.
Well I decided to pull into 2 book cases that I used in my office in the previous house...ala Walmart for around $99.00 a piece. Mr. Jetplane successfully mounted the television on the wall between the bookcases but we still needed something to go in between. We needed found a black tv stand at Target. In order to bring it up a notch we added a lil hardware from Lowes. FYI these will also be used on our cabinets in the kitchen (when we get around to that). We purchased the tv stand for under $40.
So my entertainment center might not be as awesome as PB's option, but its under $300.00.
Not too bad if I do say so myself... oh sorry for the craptastic pictures, they are all taken with my blackberry...someone has lost the charger for the camera :(

that looks amazing!
Looks great! Adding the hardware really makes a difference!
That looks awesome! Almost as good as the Pottery Barn, but if you consider the price it actually looks even better!
Great job!
I like it! I totally feel you on the beer budget! :) Have you checked out copy cat chic? She finds "knock offs" of all sorts of designer home decor.
I love it! Not to mention, there's no sense spending that kind of money on a big entertainment center when you will probably move in a few years and it may not work in the new house. That's always my biggest frustration with moving every 3 years...you can't buy anything to "fit" something in your current house b/c chances are, it won't fit in your next house!
This wound up being a fabulous addition! Kudos to you for using what you had - it certainly looks amazing and fabulous without costing $3K!
WOW! I think it's fabulous!! Great thinking!
Lookin' good. I, due to lack of creativity, can't even fake it...I just pine away until I can get what I want.
I'm jealous of people who can decorate their places without having to copy the ideas from pages and pages of magazines!
I think it looks great!
Once my husband comes home I am TOTALLY copying this idea! We already have the mounted tv and black TV stand we just need something on either side! LOVE IT
My husband and I did the same thing for our entertainment center. We took two tall shelves, sandwiched a short one in between and propped the TV up in the middle. And we ended up w/ way more space that way too for storage.
It looks good for y'all. I like the hardware.
You so totally rock!!! We still haven't figured out what in the heck to do with our TV and we need a TV stand bad! The one we've got is crappy ole' walmart's.
