Project Get Sexy

Surprise Surprise...I'm still working this program and actually excited about it. Trust me no one is more surprised then me. I'm proud of myself and I love that Mr. Jetplane tells me how proud he is of me after every run. It one of the many things that make me keep going.
Yesterday I finished my 3rd workout from Week 4. Which looks a lil something like this...
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
You read that right...At this point I'm jogging a mile and half total. I'm the girl that in order to get out of P.E. took more science classes junior and senior year of high school. Now don't get me wrong... I cheered and was active but I never ran. I hated it.
But this program works and you can actually feel your stamina building....to me that's an awesome feeling.
Now don't get me wrong at the end I think I might die...but I know I'm getting stronger after each and every run. I also recommend trying to do it every other day, I took a 5 day break when we left for Illinois and I felt it yesterday morning.
And since I'm getting serious about this running thing I decided I needed some new running shoes. My old ones were getting pretty nasty since I've been hiking in them lately.
And here the beauties are... my last shoes were Asics per Mr's recommendation and I really love them. Personally, I find them to have more of a cushion on my feet and provide more stability. We stopped in at a Shoe Carnival in Mr's hometown and got buy 1 get the 2nd 1/2 off sale and we both got new shoes. These were on sale from $129.00 to $94.00, before the discount.
I wore them on my run yesterday and love them. They are a step up from my previous Asics and I can definitely feel the difference.
So how is everyone else's running going? I hear alot of you have recently started C 2 5k, its awesome isn't it? I'd love to hear your stories.
Project Get Sexy is still pushing right along.

Woohoo! So proud of you for sticking to it, girl! You are awesome. Please continue to keep us posted, can't wait to see the results!
xoxo,
Lulu
Congratulations! What motivation and drive. Keep it up!
Good job on sticking to it! My project is to get sexy for my wedding (well, at least tone up until then...) 2.5 months to go!
Aside from the running, I also signed up for bootcamp (thanks to a great deal on groupon.com) and now been doing bikram yoga twice a week (have you tried it? Kicks.my.ass.).
And I think I mentioned it, three or so years ago I did the couch to 5k -- once you actually run a 5k (as in a real one with a finish line), it's a bit addicting. You end up signing up for more 5k's. Then you think you can do a 10k. From there, 10 miles it's nothing. What is a half marathon after that?
And here I am struggling while I train for a marathon...
Seriously, 5 year ago I had never even run half a mile straight, now I run 19 miles non-stop and don't pass out? There's something to be said about that...
Running still kicks my ass and some (ok, most) days I still hate it, but nothing makes me feel stronger and more challenged.
Those are some great shoes for that price!
Love the shoes, I'll reward myself with a new pair after I finish the whole C25k program. I started week 1 again because when I was on week 2 a couple of weeks ago my right shin gave me a run for my money, so I kinda slacked off.
But that's great you're on week 4. Keep up the good work!
First of all Congrats for hanging in there. I personally know it's not an easy task, this C25k that is. Secondly, I'm doing well. We spoke via twitter about this before. I feel so torn down and just tired, but good at the same time. Make sense? I'll be going into week three by the weekend. I've been running on the treadmill. my chest doesn't hurt as bad and I can last longer AND I don't need to hit my inhaler, which is something I hate doing. Not only are my side rolls gone, but I've knocked off 2.5 lbs. Are you doing any additional workouts (weights, etc)? I was thinking of investing in new running shoes myself, but don't know if it's a need or a want. So until that is clear, I'll be staying with my current. Check out my blog to see them. Maybe you have a suggestion for me.
So glad to see you are sticking with the C25K. I have completed it twice now and love it. That may sound crazy but the first time I completed it, the worst DC winter weather in years arrived and I had no access to a treadmill at the time so I "fell off the wagon". I completed the program again this past May and signed up for my first 5K only to quickly become pregnant with our second child. NOT complaining about that one bit but I will do the program again after the baby is born and run that 5K come hell or high water....lol. It is an amazing program and I look forward to seeing your updates as your work through it. Good luck and keep running!
