If any of my fine readers follow me via Twitter (you don't have to but if you want to...well that's cool by me) you'll already be well aware that I have a slight addiction to Teen Mom on MTV. Ok, a slight addiction might be a lie, ok a blatant lie, because I am a full blown addict to Teen Mom and its predecessor for 16 & Pregnant (oh and the Pregnancy Pact, and those 2 teen pregnancy movies on Lifetime the one with Kirsten Dunst and the one with Brian Austin Green...come on you know those too..you don't have to lie about it, we're all friends here...)
Yes, my name is Mrs. Jetplane, I'm 29, married, and a proud parent of 2 furbabies and I have a serious addiction to any and all shows about teen pregnancy. I hope the youth of America is as drawn to these shows as I am.
I'll be honest when I watch them, sometimes I'm like "DAMN...Gina.... I'm so not mature enough to have a baby right now!!" Yeah that's right, you heard me...I question if I'm ready to have children and I hope, no I pray, that these young kids who watch this show realize what a HUGE ASS responsibility being a parent is.
I also hope that while watching this show:
1. More pregnant teens realize that adoption is a very valid option for them.
2. Farrah sees that hanging out with dudes all the time, isn't where its at.
3. Amber and Gary both realize that they both need attitude adjustments.
4. Ryan's parents realize that their son is a giant bum and isn't helping their grandson AT ALL.
5. Maci realizes that Ryan is a huge WASTE of time.
6. Tyler and Catelynn live happily ever after.

You are not alone!! I am 31, (and single) and I love that show!!! I got hooked during 16 & Pregnant too! Also, I know exactly which Brian Austin Green movie you are referencing... and I laughed out loud in my office this morning!!!
Maci & Ryan live about 15 minutes from me, and I saw them in the Bi-Lo that they film so often. She is tiny, Bentley is cute as a button, and Ryan (is HOT in person), but he comes off very cold. As far as the show, it makes me sad for her. I thought Amber yelled more than Gary (and got upset WAY more than him!), but that was how they came across to me. I got teary eyed at last week's preview to see Tyler & Catelynn get engaged... Yay! I liked getting to see Farrah evolve emotionally... realizing that her parents were helping instead of always harming. Except for the slap... I could have done without that.
I feel kind of ... attached... to this cast, and don't know how I'm going to feel about a new cast. What are your thoughts on the newbies?
I definitly have watched the whole season of Teen Mom and maybe watch reruns when nothing else is on....its fabulous and I definitly agree with everything you said about each cast member!!
Have to say I teared up when Tyler proposed!!
I LOVE that show! We cut off our cable recently because we felt like we were just wasting too much time watching crap tv (ahem, Teen Mom), so now I just watch it online. Loophole! :)
OMG!! I LOVE Teen Mom!! I completely agree with your assessment of everyone. By the way...when I was watching one of the episodes, I realized that Gary and Amber live in the same town that I live in. If I ever see them in person, I will totally be giddy and star struck (even if they are both imature and rude).
I LOVE THAT SHOW! Farrah is from my home town and there is A LOT more to her story than MTV shows. People have been so hard on her, but if they only knew!
I was crying when Catelynn got engaged last night. Seriously, how cute are they as a couple!

I love those shows too. I actually recorded it last night because I was in class. I too think, OMG, I am so not ready for a baby, especially when Farrah was getting up every three hours. I would just die.
I love that show as well & completely agree with you on all of it! Farrah needs to stop looking for next hot iece of ass & be a mother. Sorry hunny but your a mom now, I personally belive she can date when her daughter is 18. Price you pay for havin unprotected sex!!

Totally and completely addicted to this show. I was kind of sad to see it end last night - how are we supposed to know how it all turns? Will Maci finally dump the loser Ryan for good? Will Amber ever stop making excuses and get her GED? Will Tyler and Catelynn learn Carly's last name? We need to know these things!

I'm watching the new episode RIGHT NOW! AND I WATCHED THE PREGNANCY PACT MONDAY NIGHT. I was also thinking to myself the other night why I am so obsessed with teen pregnancy? I am glad that I'm not the only one!

Ok so you know I love that show, and I also love that movie with Kirsten Dunst. HA! I actually think Ryan is the biggest bum out of all the baby daddies. He is horrible and his parents don't even see it. Can't wait for the second season, but I will really miss these people. Isn't that awful. How did I grow attached?!?

Addicted too! May cause a break up before the wedding, as I sneak it on the big screen when the guys are talking and not paying attention! Then, I demand it stays!
ohmygoodness - I LOVE teen mom, 16 and pregnant, and will be watching the pregnancy pact... A huge research project I had to do for grad school was on Teen Pregnancy - and believe you me....these were all sources that I included in the paper. "sources". :)

I've seen an episode here and there and I LOVE watching it! Sometimes I can't watch it though because I wonder if they'll make it.

Looove that show! I adore Catelynn and Tyler, they're beyond adorable. I think Farrah needs to remover her head from her ass, and Gary and Amber do need attitude adjustments. Maci just needs tow alk away from Ryans (cute, but bum-ish) ass and find someone better.

I watched the Preg. Pact movie a few days ago too - but Ill have to look for the other two you mentioned.
We've just now decided to try for a baby - we've been married six years this year and we'll both be 27, and I'm terrrified at hte idea of it all. I just can't grasp how a 16 year old kid can do it?!
I'm also addicted to Teen Mom. I'm home on mat. leave and it's a reminder of how good I have it.

OMG- I'm obsessed as well!! I feel bad for Catelynn & Tyler and how unsupportive their family was of them on the adoption. I also feel for Maci! Ryan sucks & needs to grow up!!

Catelynn and Tyler are cute together...but I'm kind of over Catelynn being so whiney. I used to love her, now I'm just over it.

Actually, I'm kind of addicted to all pregnancy shows right now. Even though I'm not pregnant. Deliver Me on Discovery Health is such a great show!
Oh my gosh, I'm currently obsessed with this show. But I'm working my way through Tivo'd shows, so I'm only part way through the season. I agree with you on all of your points. I can't wait to get through the season.
And did you see there will be a new set of 16 and Pregnant shows? YESSSS!
Amen! Absolutely cannot wait for the new season of 16 & Pregnant. My roommates and I all tuned in for the Pregnancy Pact as well, and I just love Tyler and Catelynn. Their parents are just awful to them.

15 & Pregnant is my favorite Lifetime movie ever. And I'm also addicted to 17 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. I think I like to yell at them the whole time.
I'm with you. And Tyler and Caitlyn are the most mature, awesome kids their age. I can't believe the decisions they've made that were in the best interest of their baby... with all the negativity around them.
It's SO funny you wrote about this today! I watched Teen Mom this evening for the very first time today. I can't say I'm addicted yet but it's definitely a possible contender for my secret single behavior.
Thanks for making me not feel guilty about my obsession! LOVE Tyler and Caitlin; isn't it perfect that the most mature ones chose adoption? The rest are all just a hot mess.

I love this show too! Since I was adopted though, I really hope that more people learn about adoption and see it as an option.
I love Tyler and Catelynn too. It was so cute how they did and how scared he was!
I love Teen Mom too! Catelynn and Tyler are my favorite! I think they'll be together forever and I'm so happy for them! I feel bad for Farrah though, I didn't watch all of the 16 and pregnant season so I don't what the story is on the baby daddy. I agree with you about Amber and her man, they annoy me. I love Maci and Ryan and I want them to get their ish together already.
I'm with you on wishing Catelyn and Tyler the most happiness in life. I swear, every time I watch that show, I tell my husband I want to adopt THEM. What sweethearts. I'm addicted too--I almost feel guilty about being excited about another season.
